I quite like Sion's place in the lore and believe he's an interesting character to look at. But besides an appearance in the 2019 cinematic and some skins we have seen neither hide nor hair of him. Bit of a shame because I really do like the idea of the battering ram made of flesh and bone that remembers just enough of being human to try and drown out the voices in his head.
That's how I feel about Viktor. A mad scientist who is one of the only people who knows how to make sentient mechanical life. In the lore he was the one who created Blitzcrank's Sentient mind, but someone stole the credit and so be trapped himself in a room and made himself into a machine.
Sion is not a juggernaut, he is just a weird handicapped bruiser/tank that has to kite melee champions to be effective.
I think the big problem with him is that his last lore won't match up with the current timeline anymore, so Riot has to think where to place him in the new canon.
In the old lore Sion was a commander of Boram darkwill who killed Jarvan I, but that only made sense due to Boram being someone who prolonged his life with necromancy, which wasn't the case in the new one(instead retconning Boram into someone that tried to prolong his life with magic, but who was killed by Swain before he could do that).
Yeah, he's a cool dude. I hope we get more stuff from his perspective like his color story. His bio and appearance in Awaken do a great job portraying the "big scary monster" part of his character, but I'd also like to see more of his own internal conflict.
And they better get Mick Gordon to design his soundtrack.
