Katarinas dad was always said to be a master with the knife,but jax himself is a master of all,so I really doubt it. Not to mention that Jax looks incredibly inhuman(not just the 3 fingered hands,but also the 2-toed feet)
Also I think its possible that they simply never thought of an answer in the first place. "Mystery" was an acceptable backstory back then.
