So Kindred art

Am i just behind on this, like was this already discussed and settled? My friend sent this to me and i didnt see anything on this on the Boards at least. While i see the similarities (the poses are a bit too similar) i think they are different enough where i wouldn't call it ripped off. Maybe inspired by, perhaps even based off of, in which case Riot should tell everyone where they got their design from.

EDIT: As it turns out there are several posts about this haha my bad, but i want to be clear i am not bashing on Riot here. Like i said above, there is enough difference for it not to be a problem but just enough similarity for it to warrant some sort of comment on the matter.

....there are like 3 other threads about this,just sort your threads by "recent" or "hot" and scroll down a bit...

Anyway,I agree that they are different enough,but I think that even if riot got some inspiration from that(maybe even unknowingly),they can't admit it at this point since people would jump at it and claim that riot stole the character design(some are doing that already despite the fact that there isn't much evidence about that)

I have mine on Recent and this was the first one I happened upon. Just by random chance I suppose. Also, two of those threads are downvoted to hell, probably because people are titled "RIOT STOLE ART" or something like that and implies a "Flame Riot" thread which is unpleasant and something I personally try to avoid. This dude is a little more chill about it.

I agree that the similarities are superficial only and Riot's hands are sort of tied: if they do anything, they admit guilt even if they are completely innocent, which they probably are.

Yea i have been just trolling the boards recently and have seen nothing but i dont do recent so i suppose that is the reason, my bad.

I think they can at least acknowledge the similarities, its not really copyright to draw inspiration from something i think you should just give credit where credit is due.

Yeah,but people tend to be irrational. If Riot would just say that they might have had some inspiration from said artist some people would instantly jump to the conclusion "THERE RIOT ADMITS THAT THEY STOLE THE CONCEPT!"

Anyway,I doubt that this was even the case. I mean kindred obviously draws inspiration from princess mononoke mixed with yin&yang and the whole "lamb-wolf"-thing,which in itself makes kindreds design almost self-explanatory.

Its mostly in the poses of the concept art, there a lot of similar or exact same poses between the two characters. It just looks like they took her drawings and switched them for their Lamb and Wolf. Not that that is even a bad thing because its still not copyright or stealing or whatever.

Honestly most of the poses on the concept art look still rather different and have only small similarities I mean lets check the comparisons between the characters on the site that you posted.

is only similar in that the wolf is around the girl,chiaras has the girl basically wearing the wolf almost like a fur boa,while kindreds is just wolf floating around lamb(something he always does in the gameplay)
Similarity is Wolf being above the girl and looking her into the face,but in kindreds case wolf has a completely differen position(his trail is still besides the lamb) and lambs positioning is completely different from the girl that chiara drew(lamb actually has to look up to see wolfs face for example) 3.&4.Angle,sitting pose,pretty much everything is different except for the girl leaning on the wolf. 5.The only similarity is pretty much that in both pictures the girl looks behind her,they don't even look into the same direction(the bunny looks directly into the "camera",while lamb looks at wolf)

So I came in expecting a flame post but after reading the argument, it's nice to see that somebody came up with a peaceful solution and aren't just trying to roast Riot. I will definitely upvote. Hopefully Chiara can work something out and I really like the idea of her designing a skin in cooperation with Riot.

Yea i love Kindred's design, i do see some similarity but its very different as well. Kindred draws inspiration from a lot of places, Chiara could be one of them, i think if they did they should admit it.

Honestly its a bit hypocritical of her to be upset with the similarities between her work and Riot's, when someone just as easily accuse her of heavily borrowing from Hayao Miyazaki.

See thats kind of what im saying (not exactly) but her art isnt anything 100% original. Her art is beautiful no doubt about it, im surprised ive never heard of her before, but its not like she owns this concept. Riot pulled Lamb and Wolf from ancient mythology of a lot of different places.

The dialogue actually refers to the reaction of that some people had over the similarities.

You can check Chiara Bautista's Facebook page and look at some of her comments in that photo, in which she acknowledges that both concepts just happen to be similar.
