This is a guy who doesn't play League or have any real passing interest in the game itself but trust me - this guy loves lore. He's a huge Touhou fanatic. And if his response to lore is essentially 'why are these bios pretty much the same' that's bad.

It's just hilarious to me how there were comments that Riot's Narrative felt constrained by the League of Legends and had to jettison it because all the champ bios ended up the same where 'and then they joined the Reague of Regends.'

At least to other champions. They actually tend to kill a lot of side characters.

Cass slaughters all of Sivir's merc buddies Kalista kills a bunch of traitors Rek'Sei wrecks caravans Bard leaves a village to burn and die GP cuts up an orange while looking at a prisoner Ekko wrecks some hex-tech hooligan and some Piltie out for a walk - also leaves his friend to die Tahm eats a gambler's wife

Man, I remember how they said that the retcon was good because it allowed them to do drastic things with the lore like maybe make Warwick kill Soraka, but you know that they'll never actually do something like that, so we gotta settle for killing inconsequential redshirts.

Y'now, if I wanted to see a bunch of inconsequential people getting wrecked by other people I'm supposed to think are cool, I'd browse DeviantArt.

Rule of Cool basically states we will accept whatever is told to us as long as it's "cool/awesome" or whatever.

So nevermind lore or what these people (or in Rek'Sai's case... things) do in their free time or what they've been up to for centuries prior.... nope just accept it.

Wait, but GP doesn't wander around? I mean, he's pretty set in Bilgewater. I guess you could consider pirate excursions 'wandering', but thats a stretch. And I don't think Tahm really wanders either. He's just kind of... where he wants to be, when he wants to be there.

And yes, this is the League of LEGENDS. Being a badass is kind of necessary. I don't think the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Bob Over There" has the same ring to it.

My point was that to an outsider - all of these champs essentially have the same variation of "badass that wanders around". They don't really do much. They just... do their thing - whatever it happens to be - relatively isolated.

And for things like GP raiding and his conflict with Fate and MF and Graves, well - Narrative needs to explicitly or subtley suggest that in content and not some red post clarification.

Eh, like I said, pirating isn't really 'wandering'. I think wandering implies a general lack of purpose and destination, whereas GP knows exactly where he wants to be. Which is boarding someone else's ship.

I agree. I feel like something in everyone's lore needs to compel them to join the League. Whether that be for vengeance or destruction or simply stated because they had a gut feeling.It sucks that Riot SAYS to post crap on here and everyone reads it and blah blah blah. But I think a lot of people are gonna have to ask for more lore/take the surveys that rito has every month or so. I love knowing the lore of the champions because I feel like it just kinda makes the champion more personal. Idk, I really enjoy a good lore.

they aren't champ bios, they are summaries to help people get a general feel for the character; the full bios aren't out yet; people, stop criticizing summaries as if they are full bios

Skarner got rewritten and was given a summary as a placeholder for his full bio. That was in September 10th, 2014. It is currently July 14th, 2015. A full 307 DAYS. We are only short 58 DAYS, less than two months, away from a full year since the Shurima Event and yet... Skarner's lore hasn't been updated.

So when you say:

I don't think you understand how this summary, this placeholder, has basically become Skarner 's Bio.

We were told during the Shurima Event that the wait for Champions that were being rewritten like Skarner would only take a few weeks to a couple (as in two, maybe three months) tops for the wait. Yet it never came.

Unless they add in those bios or say "work in progress" somewhere on the official client, the vast majority of players will assume that's the complete bio.
