Not a movie, a TV show. A movie would be too limited. Either it would be too big or it would be too small in scope.

tbh they would make a shitload of money from it too, what with how many people play league.

It's not a question of if Riot wants to make a movie. If that was the case we'd already have a LoL movie. In fact, we'd have several movies, TV shows, comics etc. It's a question of can they make a movie they feel proud of and that is quality and do they have the ability to. Plus, how could you expect them to make a movie in the near future when they don't even have their written lore fully fleshed out?

A LoL movie will come, but not anytime soon. Just look at WoW. It's been 12 years since its release and they're just getting a movie this year.

I agree that it'll come eventually but they are ever increasing in their animations and they have plenty of money and millions of dedicated fans. Even if they did a decent job for the first money they'd make enough money to come back with an even better one. Like the first season of avatar, the animations were literal shit for the most part, but it was good enough for people to start liking. The last episodes were beautiful and gave me chills Haha

There's a reason Blizzard doesn't make movies with their beautiful cinematics.

But there's also a Warcraft movie coming out.

Video game movies are never good

Not for long. I bet WoW and Assassin's Credd will be at least decent.

Hopefully.

I'm not against video game movies. It's just hard to get them done right.

I don't think the main hurdle is adapting them. There might be something intrinsically more challenging about adapting a video game to a movie, but I think the main reason why they've sucked is because the people who have been making the video game movies in the past didn't really give a fuck about video games at all.

I think in order for there to be a good VG movie, the people making the movie have to be equally knowledgeable in the video game's lore and movie making. Take for example Marvel studios. They don't just have comic nerds trying to make movies, cause that would be a disaster. They also don't just have good movie producers making the movie, because it would be out of touch with the source material. They have people who are equally passionate about movies and comic books.

I think the problem in the past has been that producers like Uwe Boll, who don't care about video games or about making a good movie, just buy the rights to the movies to make a quick buck. Or on the other hand, producers like Adrian Askarieh who have intentions to make a good movie but are so uninformed about the source material that they end up turning Hitman: Agent 47 into Rambo meets Mission Impossible.

However, I do have hope for the future of VG movies, since companies like Ubisoft, Blizzard and Activision are starting to have a more active approach in the development of their properties into movies. Which suggests to me that these companies are interesting in branching out into different forms of entertainment.

If you look into it you'll find that the producers for most crappy video game movies come from an off shore company getting tax breaks and money for making a terrible movie...
