Zoe, her backstory, and what I think of it.

Zoe - Biography - Universe of League of Legends

Let me be clear, I hate the Aspects. all of them. Pantheon is the worst of the lot, but each one has some shady stuff going on. However, I didn't know what to think about Zoe, as she had not had her lore released, so my reaction was to saw "I guess some aspects like them young." but I tried to withhold any opinions on the latest thing from Targon that I couldn't wait for Sol to destroy. Now that her lore has been released, I figure I can now pass my judgement. Naturally, This is going to be biased, so please tell me your thoughts in the comments.

Zoe was once, interestingly enough, a student of the Lunari, however, she wasn't exactly the best student. Easily distracted, but very imaginative the young girl decided that she wasn't that interested in her studies and went to do something 'less boring'. The aspect was apparently watching her during this , and it was this that made the abomination take an interest.

Zoe ran away from her teachers, and after an hour-long chase she was concerned. The aspect gave her a variety of items, like a weapon, gold, and the things that she actually needed. Thing is, she chose to kick a ball and laugh as it bounced around them. The aspect was delighted, and merged with her on the spot.

After that, she went out to some bizarre place, somewhere in-between dimensions, and spent ages there. She became a messenger for the Targon Empire, and stayed that way for millennia. Sadly, she somehow didn't mature in all that time. I am guessing she and the aspect were just glorified gofer's, in fact, considering Zoe just needs to show up to fix whatever it is needs to.

She also has an interesting relationship with Sol, you know, the one guy I can root for in Targon. She doesn't like the fact that Sol's has a huge ego (pot meet kettle), 'lies' (admittedly I'm not entirely sure what she means by this, but it's something interesting to think about.) and of course his world-weariness. (It's a bad trait for slaves to have, or at least, so I'm told.) However, she does seem to be protective of the living WMD, stopping Pantheon from destroying Sol's stars. (it does say she protects Sol himself... but I honestly doubt that.)

I like that there's at least one person in Targon who 'likes' Sol... But Zoe doesn't come across to me as a nice person. She teases him, but it's by calling him a "space doggie", and by belittling him. I find it both tremendously insulting to the Creature who creates stars, and is supposed to be on the same level of power. (Yes, Targon uses a girl who's power is on Sol's level as a gofer. Let that sink in.) Personally, I am hoping Sol spares her.... and only her. I want to see what she think of the space doggy after everything she knew is destroyed by a vengeful god.

there's also the fact that she doesn't seem to care that her family and friends are now dead. I mean, you'd think that she would have one moment were she found out about the Lunari purge, you'd think she would have a moment were she realizes that everyone she knew is gone, and yetshe doesn't. I think, and this is just pure speculation, that it's the aspect's doing. It doesn't want her to think unhappy thoughts, so she literally can't. This is just my opinion, and I'm probably overthinking it.

Her gameplay looks like it will be interesting, but story wise I have a strong dislike of her. I'm sure her maturity is buried somewhere inside there, but she comes across as immature, spoiled kid, and her aspect as an enabler. She and Taric are, I will admit, the most moral of all the hosts. However, I can't say that I want Zoe or the other aspects running around on runeterra. Hopefully, Sol will destroy them, or the Void gets to them, or Atreus kicks Pantheon out and tries to banish the Apsects back to the Warp, or whatever hell they spawned from.

Thank you for reading, what are your thoughts on Zoe? Please share them with me.

I like Zoe and the part about offering her some items and she choosing the ball is the test to make her the aspect of twilight was a great scene.

The whole question about the aspects seems like the question: How far are we allowed to go to prevent greater evil?

Some aspects seem to be ready to do literally everything to defend the universe against the void, like Pantheon. But I don't see all of the aspects of Mount Targon as parasites like you might (at least I interpret it that way).

Pantheon was overtaking his vessel, some might control them with their power. The feeling I got from Zoe is actually kinda friendly, like they are not parasite and host and are having more like a symbiotic relationship. And that this was the reason for the fairly unusual test for Zoe. Her aspect wanted to find someone who is truly able to understand it's nature and is just like it.

And I highly doubt that Asol is going to do something really harmful to the aspects anytime soon. ^^

I'm still scratching my head over why Aspects require hosts.

I feel like Zoe's just going to be one of characters in stories that don't follow the rules. Like, any of them. I don't think that there's any way for us to even rationalize what she does, or what her aspect does, because the aspect and her are apparently pretty similar.

I'm fond of her character and personality, and her backstory is better than what I expected, but I'm still disappointed we know next to nothing about the aspects themselves.

At least we got some earthly Targon worldbuilding out of it. Which is nice.

While I agree it seems better written. It still just makes me confused at how the space parasites function here.

Zoe is a horrible messenger. Quite literally she is bad at her job, rushing about without thought, no ability to mix with the population she needs to bring messages to, and ignores her duties while she goes and plays ball.

And that ignores her abilities and what they mean for the rest of the cast. Do you have any idea what teleportation would do to aid war or protection?

Why are the Aspects such idiots?

Sadly, she somehow didn't mature in all that time.

This. It makes no sense.
