I have a theory about Shuriman Ascended and the source of their power
Aspects and Ascended draw from the same well.
Given this quote from WAAARGbobo, I think it might be possible that the Shurimans stole their power from the Celestials and put it into the Ascended. The aspects of Targon are different in that they are literally possessed by the celestials, right? Well what if the Ascended have their power the way that they do without being possessed because of something that the Shurimans did to subvert the normal way that the Celestials would give their power to mortals? It wouldn't be the first time in fantasy literature that people claiming to be acting on the will of the gods used power for their own ends without the actual approval of said gods.
Maybe the Celestials even helped bring about the end of Shurima or the end of the Ascended (like they did in the recent story that was published) in an effort to reclaim their power from the Ascended....
