Should GP stay dead lore-wise? (not necessarily gamewise)
I believe keeping him dead is the better option as it would establish true character development. What about you? What do you think?

No. At least not yet. I think the story of him barely surviving the destruction of the dead pool and having to claw his way back to the top after losing his crew, his ship, and his reputation is much more interesting than him just being dead. Killing a character off when there are still good stories to tell with them is bad form.
No, explaining his death would probably take up most of the three lines of text delegated in the in client lore section.
I think he should return. We barely got to know him,so I think such an early death won't stick.
However I think that Riot should know that they can't do the same trick twice,so next time a character appears to be dead,he/she should be really dead.
He wont die, its like Sivir situation all over again.
I'm amazed to see the number of people who want to see him return...
It's cool to read all your reasons.
I personally want him to stay dead so we can remember him as he is in his prime. A Legend of the league.
I don't think so. It could work but here's the one problem I have with it:
If Gangplank dies Miss Fortune is basically going to spend her story killing off non-champions and characters. This is fine and dandy if it were a book.... But its league.
The power void is a bit much: Graves and TF are out, leaving Miss Fortune, Fizz, Nami and maybe Tahm Kench. None of these characters other than Miss Fortune have a real reason to fight, kill, or seize power. They seem to have their own stories that are a bit removed from Bilgewater, and don't really care what MF is doing to the populace.
Gangplank could be kept alive as an eventual challenger, an a method to keep Bilgewater feeling like a hotly contested area and not some PVE environment where Miss Fortune slowly takes on all challengers and cements her position as tyrant/Gangplank-Purger in charge.
One argument is that the shadow Isles and the harrowing can come a-knocking and provide the antagonism that Miss Fortune needs, but its not exactly what she wants. She's out for vengeance, not really survival. She willingly threw Bilgewater into chaos, well aware of how bad a position she's putting the Blue Flame Isles in relation to the threat of the Harrowing.
I find this question a bit pointless: even a death can bring further development of the champion, if trated properly, by uncovering stories of his past that have an impact on the untold
#Next Harrowing....
Spooky Gangplank will sail again! This time for the Shadow Isles
I think he should live, and I think he will live regardless. If he didn't, it would feel very odd to play him in game knowing he's dead. Also would cut off any further interactions with characters.
Personally I think there's a lot of potential in having him return as a ghost pirate during the Harrowing, as the Black Mist rolls into Bilgewater, to continue his feud with Miss Fortune from beyond the grave.
