Narrative's approach is not aimed at Lore Followers

I believe in all honesty that Riot as a company has pretty solid ideas about how to handle their product. The problem is Lore is not really something that is as easy to market as the other half of this game. It's true that the new method of story telling is more compelling in that it "breathes life" to your world (as often as you would like to repeat that (which is actually just making more of us pissed off)); but it does not give us Lore followers what we desire: INFORMATION.

I just read up on Jaredan's replies to CupcakeTrap over at that other discussion but I decided to open up a new discussion, in fear of having this drowned out.... also because I wanted to address this issue directly. Riot's not really marketing Lore for its consumers. What Lore is right now is just a short-lived experience that occurs in maybe a champion release or a gameplay update. It lacks the true depth that Lore fans desire. What you guys are actually doing is just enticing the general player base to ride on the Story train... and treating that as a success Lore-wise... IT ISN'T!!! I hope someone can make a good analogy of this since I can't it's 3:30 in the morning right now and I still have to wake up early for the last Rurounni Kenshin movie....

When I talk about depth, what Lore followers would most likely want is information, information they can: play connect the dots with, theorycraft with, create fanfiction with, or just plain wallow in. These are the types of people who would make a Wiki out of the things you'll be writing about. With what you're choosing, vagueness over encyclopedia-esque, we can't establish those things that we like. This is why there is so much hate on the Narrative team.

I hope Riot gets to see this and I hope they do understand the type of thing we like. I'm not saying they should not do what they are doing, I am actually asking for more from this team. To actually deliver on what it is we NEED as that part of the player base. I think I will shoot myself in the head if a Rioter ever comments that players are all the same in the end, we aren't, some could care less about the game's story! I even have doubts if they ever discussed how the removal of the Institute and Summoners would affect us Lore Followers. I guess that is how much trust I've lost for these storytellers.

Hope you can contribute to this discussion.

BTW I'm from SEA so I had an old account that had it's handle jumbled up during the Summoner name purge...

What Riot is doing is a conveyor belt Story. In 3 months there will be 1-2 new champions and updates. They be comprised of interweaving characters that you know and love, modified to make the champion more important for that brief moment.

Because Riot thinks that there is too many restrictions in connecting 120+ champions to one breathing and living world. They instead make every Champion and update a story.

So for Sion it looks something like this: Sion used to be awesome then_____ now He is awesome again

Or Azir used to be Awesome then_____ now He is awesome again

Then Rito takes any connection to league and replaces it with awesome for previous champions

Nasus used to be Awesome then he was forced to imprison his brother now he has to be awesome.

Renekton used to be Awesome then he got crazy now he is Crazy-Awesome

Xerath used to be Sneaky then he tricked Azir now he is Ascedent-Awesome

Sivir used to be Awesome then she got stabbed now She will coolly be Awesome to get more money.

Cassiopeia wanted to be Awesome then she got bit by snake acid voodoo now she is Awesome-snake lady.

Leblanc is awesome then she tricked the world now she continues to be awesome.

Swain wanted to be more awesome then he became leader of Noxus now he will make Noxus more awesome.

Then the easter eggs/Cameos Follow.

C something-something awesome then Vi/Caitlyn/Jinx something-something now something-something Awesome.

I think with Shurima you're entirely right, it was mainly flashy stuff and little content (XYZ happened, but it looked awesome), Freljord seems like not much of an event to me (but that's just me), Reborn however has some interesting parts, like Vladimir doing a blood ritual but this not being obvious and three codenamed characters to decipher while still being flashy (I liked the background music too, added to the mood).

Sadly, I don't want to delve too deep into the new lore because I can't trust the lore department after they just bluntly replaced Trundles identity, they even repeatedly stated recently they want to keep champions' cores intact.
