What would Xerath do in oppressive, immense Void Invasion?

What would Renekton and Xerath do in an immense Void Invasion? | ask.fm/RiotJaredan

I asked this question to Jaredan, thanks a lot to him he answered. Actually, even while I'm annoymous he answers a lot of my questions.

But there is something that I dont understand. This answer is brutal. He literallys say he would fight against both sides. Voidborns and Runeterrans.

The things are, Void is the biggest threat for Runeterra. If Runeterra falls, you probably have no possible way to clear them from Runeterra again. Even if you could, there wouldn't be something such as life anymore (except a few Voidborns ofc). There wouldn't be something to rule, there wouldn't be something to show your power that highly feeds your ego, which is a perfect pleasure for an arrogant entity like Xerath. Which is what Xerath wants a lot. His literal purpose is getting more and more power + absolute rule. (Ruler of Runeterra)

Why do I feel like Xerath would make an ally with Runeterrans, at least with such as Noxus, Demacia, Zaun or whatever for a short time? Until they clean the Voidborns? But why would he do that? Most probably because of the things that I said above. Of course totally not with Azir and Nasus, but Xerath is not an entity who could crush anyone he sees. He is not a mindless creature like Rek'Sai. He can talk with you, he can try to use you for his benefits. Examples are followers of Xerath that killed by Nasus.

I just wanna see Xerath in good side for even a short time, even when it is for his benefits. It would be cool and make him totally a grey character, rather than the biggest threat after Void. Really, he is even more dangerous than Shadow Isles in douchebag mode.

So, what do you think? What would he do in your eyes? What would he become? A total asshole, or a powerful ally? Or goes crazy and figures he can dry out the void energy even while he knows nothing good will come from doing this?

Keep in mind Xerath will have a character arc, as will Azir, Sivir et al. I feel your pain. I have a lot of sympathy for Xerath (I helped out on re-breaking his arc a couple years back) Xerath isn't all bad-- he's a person ruined by circumstance and by the person he cared for the most betraying his trust. He's a human being (or was at least). Currently what he is doing is evil and selfish, but you can't have the dawn without the night. I can't say if Xerath will have redemption, but his perspective will change. Azir and Xerath are imprisoned by the past.... Sivir holds the key.

Xerath is my favourite character in all of fantasy universe. And I know a lot fantasy universes...

I'm literally obsessed with his lore, even though his lore changed a lot, he will be always my favourite (at least in LoL). Old or current, it doesn't matter. So, after Shurima Update, I will feel like ''I already ate the topples of pizza, it is turn of crust''. xD

It is good to hear that Xerath will have live-action changes though. I believe it is related with Bloodline, isn't it?

I also wanna ask those questions to you that I already edited on the original post.

What would be awesome in my opinion is that in the future he redeems himself in the eyes of the Ascension rather than Azir/Susan and Co. and while keeping his character he becomes ana ccpeted Ascended making his Guardian of the Sands skin canon.

I think that is not possible, ritual is done. Ascension doesn't live in him anymore, it has no mind. Ascension only acts like it has mind when it is in work. While you're about to ascend, your personality (your deep soul or whatever) affects the ritual. Xerath had much more dark side than any other Ascendant, also kept the ritual too far long. That's the reason why he is completely differen than other Ascendants, not because he is keeping his personality in dark side.

In other say, even if he changed, it would change nothing.

Also, Guardian of the Sands Xerath has alternative lore. A serious one:

Deep in the sands lies an arcane temple forsaken by a ruined kingdom. Deep in that temple lies an imposing tomb burnished with mystic runes and emerald scarabs. Deep in that tomb lies an ancient being of treacherous power.

These guys guard the temple next to that one.

Wow, now there's a picture. As WAAARGHBobo said, there will be an arc for all of the characters. I was having a bit of fun with that question. Of course, it's never that simple, and we don't want Xerath to be a character without depth, whether he is seen as a villain or not.

Well, so, I don't think those questions will be answered in an arc (until Void surprisely strikes), what do you think? What would Xerath do? Or would it spoiler his personality?

Also, is there a reason why you stopped answering questions in ask.fm? xD Vacation?

I dont think Aurelion Sol is powerful enough to stop Void single handly (he is vastly powerful but we know he is not unstoppable, we don't have a champion like this in league). At least he couldn't clean the Runeterra without destroying the planet.

Even Aurelion Sol was terrified from the entity through Void Rift. There can be someone who is equal to him. This entity + voidborn army can be big threat. So, Runeterra should ally with a lot powerful entities like Ascendants, Aspects, Aurelion Sol, Bard, Anivia etc.

To fair up about AS vs Void

  • He might not be able to fight alone an entire dimension of evergrowing monstrosities but remeber that what he did in "Twin Dawns" was really minor compared to his abilities as he didn't want to erase Runeterra all at once.

  • He is entranced by the nature of the entity who could cut so nicely between dimensions and finds it quite peculiar that this one seems to have a will and rationality and even be able to laugh at him as an act of mocking, he is not scared.

On topic:

I believe Xerath wouldn't mind to beocme emperor of the voidborns either, their twisted magic might prove useful for him too.

He literally gets terrified. Even he admits how powerful entity it is.

While we don't know about the actual power of such entity... Wouldn't you shudder at the sight of a 5x sized ant? I surely wold since I wouldn't be expecting anything similar in my courtyard but that doens't mean it would be able to overpower me.

Except Aurelion Sol is not human and he wasn't afraid of humanity when first he met with them. He meets a lot species regulary, he has no reason to be afraid of a entity he never saw until this entity highly powerful.

He also didn't see this entity. Even sensing it was terrifying.

He was never terrified, he just got a shiver xD I'm not saying that the entity he sensed was no big deal, it is.. and probably a really big one too, but it's more about discovering something he wouldn't believe be possible rather than blunt power level.

ALso he isn't afraid of humans and he doesn't erase Targonians because he would need to burn the entire cosmos (Targonians are allover space) and that would mean the death of unnumbered Stars. Once he is free though.. I guess it would be really entertaining to be on the hunt.

Why wouldn't he believe? I don't think he thought all Voidborns were weak af, he probably knew there were really powerful Voidborns but he didn't expect that much.

I think you don't shudder when you meet something that is new for you but get shocked. xd

Yes he is, he basically one shot the immense void creature and he didnt show fear, imo he showed extreme annoyance towards it.
