Lore: Tenzen's father, Gaijen, was a reclusive mechanist in Piltover. He moved with his infant son to Piltover from Ionia after his wife died. He always loved to tinker and create, so he naturally moved to Piltover once he said there was nothing left for him in Ionia. He started a new life with a vision. Instead of using magic to enhance technology and make it function, like the techmaturgists did, he wanted to use technology to refine and more effectively harness magic. This led to inventions like the Statikk Cloaking Armor, the Statikk Blade, and the invention which made him famous, the Blink Drive, a device that allows you to instantly teleport short distances.
After inventing the Blink Drive, he caught the attention of war-making city-states all over who wanted it to be used on assassins. Before he could start producing more, though, some members of organized crime decided they wanted it for themselves. Tenzen was just 19 when thugs knocked down the door to their home and grabbed Gaijen. Gaijen wouldn't show them the way to his lab, because he knew Tenzen was working in there. They got frustrated and shot him in the head. After that, Tenzen realized what was happening and went into a rage. He grabbed his father's prototypes for combat and stepped out of the lab. When he saw the men over his father's body, he immediately decided they should die. He blinked between both of them and killed them with the Statikk Blade. He then went back into the lab and dragged his father's body with him. He took all of his notes on inventions he had and doused the place in fuel. He lit a match and burned his father's lab to the ground, with his body inside. It was then that he began his mission to avenge his father, using his own inventions.
