Gerald the Lordslayer

Primary: Fighter Secondary: Tank

Allies:Vayne Quinn Enemy:Garen JarvanIV Fiora

Lore:

One of the original knights who followed king Jarvan the First, Gerald Lordbearer was the youngest, brightest and most loyal of all. Raised within the confine of the king's castle, Gerald knew nothing but the most fervent and selfless dedication to the king, and when the king called for action, time and time again Gerald was the first to volunteer, and entered battle with unmatched zeal and an almost bezerker state of uncontrollable rage, crushing all those who dare opposed the king. Taking a blow for the king, Gerald suffered a permanent injury to his left leg. Unfit for duty, Gerald was honorably discharged and granted an ornate sword and a plot of land to call his own and to retire there as its lord. And for a while, things were good.

Becoming a lord changed Gerald. For the first time, he was on his own. For the first time, he was neither being taught to lay down his life to save the king nor was he lost in his zealous rage. And Gerald saw, and understood. As lord of the land, he saw how the common man suffered, toiling away endlessly for the crime of being born of lowly status. He saw the hungry children, forced to steal to survive and yet still harshly punished by the so-called "just" law. He saw the inherent flaw of a system with kings and nobles yet still call itself fair and just. As time went on, Gerald stopped living for the king, and lived for the people. While many other knights of the king married women of high status and became the nobility, Gerald married the woman he loved, a plain soldier-turned-farmer by the name of Marie, and in the process became the only knight that was not of nobility. Together, they ruled as Lord and Lady in name only, preferring for each man and woman under their care to live without the suffocating laws and order of Demacia, only invoking their rightful position as Lord and Lady to challenge outside's attempt at indiscriminate justice, for while he was not one of nobility, Gerald was still one of the original knights, and as such was given special power by the King. Unable to change Demacia as a whole, Gerald instead strives to make his own land one of compassion and understanding, providing food and sheltering for those so hungry and cold that they must steal to survive, and appointed to position of power man and woman capable who earned the right to hold said position through intelligence and diligence. And for a while, things were good.

Disillusioned with the King and Demacia, relationship between the king and Gerald waned, and with its the special treatment he received. As a result, Gerald only child, Ellyn was conscripted into the military. Though their relationship had strained, Gerald nevertheless still respected the king, and let Ellyn go, trusting the king's decision and judgement. But all trust and respect he had was lost underneath uncontrolled anger as a year later, Gerald received message that Ellyn was executed for desertion. She ran from battle, unwilling to let herself and her squad die in a suicidal, "honor" driven charge commanded by an incompetent commander of noble backgrounds who commanded thousand of troops to die for their own honor and glory. She hid in a village nearby, living off the kindness of the folks there, folks who gave like they had everything despite having nothing. She sent Gerald letters everyday, explaining to him the reason behind her desertion and the circumstances of her survival, up until the time of her arrest and execution. Enraged, Gerald smashed the ornate sword given to him by the king, which until that time was hung in the highest honor above in his house, and used the broken blade to set his left leg. Walking out the house in tranquil fury, Gerald was never seen again. His name is now only whispered by tyrants and corrupted nobles, ever fearful that they would be the next target of the Lordslayer.

Appearance: A jaded, 60-ish man in a suit of armor. Bald, beared, his face is a little dirty and scared, his piercing ice-blue eye shinning across it. The armor is plain, used, dirty but reliable, comes with a tattered cape. Carries a comon long sword in a low guard stance. Walk with occasional light limp https://inthegame.nl/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Lords-of-the-Fallen-5.jpg http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131111214011/darksouls/images/e/ed/Chosen_undead_artwork.jpg http://www.avn-online.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/old-knight.png

Gameplay: Fueled by unwavering determination and tranquil fury, the Lordslayer is a melee bruiser/bulky assassin, specializing in utter destruction of one target, and the capability to wade through an entire team to do so. With the ability to shurg off blows and spell alike, break free of disables through force of will and high single target indiscriminate damage, Gerald is the ultimate slayer, taking down any target, be it tanks or marksmen, bringing a swift end to those he deemed corrupt. Despite the ability to slay tanks and squishies alike, the Lordslayer lacked the raw burst power of normal assassins, instead relying on overwhelming dps to bring down the target, resulting in a slower but more steady and reliable death. Furthermore, the Lordslayer, in his fury, focus on a target so intensely that he brings little aoe or utility to a team, dedicating himself to utterly slaying one, and only one, foe. His limp also gives him trouble, for although he can shrug off blows and move with surprising speed, he lacks an easy to use gap closer, instead relying on an exceptionally hard to hit skillshot, and as such enemy managing to stay one step ahead of the Lordslayer can kite him down and deny him the ability to use his high single target damage, where his lack of aoe and utility becomes apparent.

All of his costs are way too low.

His W's cost should be scaling up, with something else in it. Maybe just a CC immune spell shield, and if it doesn't scale up and least don't make it free. I also think 20% current health is a pretty crazy cost, you basically won't use it at all until you put significant points into it, meaning your maxing it last and not using it until later on.

His E is just too powerful. It's like Olaf's, except better. Much better. Nothing should just do %max hp in true damage to someone. Vayne is the only one, and she needs 3 consecutive auto attacks onto someone in order to do it.

Just take out the true damage and tone the % health down a tiny bit and it'd be a lot more balanced.

The R looks pretty good, it might need a higher or lower cooldown, can't say for sure.

Here's my thoughts on his skills:

Passive: the MS bonus is way too big, 70% bonus MS at 10 stacks is ridiculous. The MS bonus should be toned down to something along the lines of 1/1.5/2% per stack (ie- half the armor/magic resist bonus).

Q- I recommend looking at Darius' W for the standard of Armor penetration % passives.

W- The CD is a bit on the low side, especially considering the health cost scales down. Also (and I might be wrong) I believe Tenacity has a soft cap at 35 or 50, so instead of gaining bonus Tenacity it should reduce the effectiveness of incoming disables by 50% for a scaling amount of time (ie- .5/.75/1/1.25/1.5s). Also remove the auto attack damage reduction and instead have it double the effectiveness of his passive for the same length as his disable resistance ^.

E- Honestly this seems fairly balanced, though I'm not sure it needs the extra armor reduction. Perhaps he gains increased damage to that target for a short time, to better fit his identity as an in-your-face single-target fighter.

R- The CD is too low for an ultimate, you've basically created a Nautilus Q with double the range at lvl 16. CD needs to start higher (like 120/100/80s) and maybe refunding a part of the CD if the skill kills the target. The cast time practically forces him to use this skill from brush or fog of war, which seems balanced as long as he is able to traverse walls and terrain if an enemy is hit, so it might be best if this skill only hits enemy champions.

Hopefully that doesn't come across as too critical, I like the concept but it seems a little overbearing for a standard top lane bruiser. Cheers!

very good lore. The only problem is the same as every people who post about knew champions: numbers:they are always broken.I don't know if you see how insane it'would be (not in the good way). you have slow, armor pen, burst ,cc disable... just give a description of the spells without numbers because you always make them overpowered.it's good you don't work for riot in term of balancing but you should work for lore :p

I didnt really want to read this at first, but im glad I did, its a great story and a great concept character. However, as many people have already said his numbers need a nerf. remember that you wanted a standard knight. Q passive needs to be scaled down, maybe at max of a 25-30% armor pen. and the active a max of 40% attack speed. W shouldnt cost max health, instead should give 10% health and draw back tenacity quite a bit if not remove it. E im actually kind of happy with. R should be more of a rush than a skillshot with no channel time, this would make him basically a more versaitile Leona.
