Nautilus size increase

terkmc··180 votes·8,521 views

Riot, can you please increase Nautilus size? Before i can understand having big-ass model be a little distracting, but with the release of Sion, there's no reason not to have Nautilus sized up. I mean its in his damned title "TITAN of the depth". Nautilus is one of the, if not the, most iconic tank in the game with the amount of cc he has and how imposing it is to have a Nautilus in the middle of your team, so its only fitting that he gets the size of a true tank and titan. I mean you guys at Riot already showed us that you understand how big and imposing Nautilus is supposed to feel like ( A New Dawn), so why not put it into play? http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2014/222/c/e/league_of_legends_wallpaper_nr_11__nautilus__by_bluishnyalka-d7ukojw.jpg

Edit: Shout out to increase Maphite size =D Edit: Rito plz

You realize the the bigger the model is, the bigger the hitbox is?

While he is a tank, a bigger hitbox is generally not always a good thing. Makes it much harder to dodge considering how slow Nautilus is.

DorsalChicken10 votes

I for one am of the opinion that a larger hit-box is good for tanks, especially ones that relay on disruption and cc. While in a 1v1 scenario it would be better to be smaller and dodge skill-shots assuming your enemy has any (as targeted abilities go to the center and not the hit-box when deciding range) it is almost always better to have a larger hit-box then your allies when trying to peel or body-block an enemy by standing in their way forcing them to take the time to walk around you. Chogath for example is very good at displacing enemies and peeling because of not only hit kit but also his sheer mass. This is also the reason that item 2138 increases size in addition to granting tenacity.

I fully support that large tanks, Nautilus Malphite get a size increase. They did it for Mordekaiser, a champion on whom a larger hit-box had no benefit so why not these guys.

Unskilledtroller2 votes

Because A: you have elixir of iron to do it! Because B: a HUGE hitbox on a SLOW champion is REALLY REALLY BAD. why? DO YOU EVEN EARLY GAME. You're not a tank you're just free gold if you have a large hit-box EVERY single abilty WILL hit you. from Jax's counterstrike to Rumble's Equalizer to that 30/0/0 nidalee who has item 3285 item 3041 item 3089 item 3135 item 3285 item 3285 as her items. (I saw this once actually. you WILL die, you WILL be worthless and ESPECIALLY, YOU WILL NOT BE A TANK. so while i love Elixir of iron for the bigger hit-box, i appreciate the fact that it only takes effect LATE-GAME.

DorsalChicken5 votes

Jax's counter-strike is targeted and melee so... that doesn't apply.

Rumble's R has a massive hit-box and a fast deployment, meaning it's really easy to land on anybody without blinks or dashes which most tanks have anyway.

Not to mention Naut can also Q to a wall if your close to a wall or enemy to dodge a lot of slower things anyway. (Morg Q, Nidd Q)

By the time Nidd has that kind of build I'd hardly say it's early game 30 kills or not. >-> (You should be tanky enough to deal with anything at that point)

As far as tanks go the ones that need the increase are fairly mobile compared to the likes of Cho'gath or Mundo, who have no mobility. (Nautilus Has Q grab to terrain) (Malphite Has Ult and Move-speed steal on Q) Buy Swiftness or mobi boots, between Iron and masteries you don't need mercs like you used to. Alacrity is even decent now if you don't need home-guard.

Also on the thing of early game. The tanks in question (Naut Malph) Are more often junglers and top laners then support or mids. (not that they can't go there) But a tank has much lower chance of dealing with skill-shots in the jungle, since nobody counter jungles anymore. Or they go top where they often are against another tank, or somebody that doesn't have skill-shots to begin with. and even early game it's better you take the hit then your adc.

And one last thing. As a Cho'gath main myself I can easily say that dodging skill-shots is just as easy when I have six stacks as when I have none, or when I play somebody like Soraka. Predicting a skill-shot is 80% of dodging one and anybody can do that regardless of hitbox.

All your arguments are Invalid unless under very specific scenarios. Basically if your having that much trouble early you just really suck at playing tanks early or your new to the game.

TDubH2 votes

All my arguments are invalid, because this situation doesn't exist. First: Jax's E is NOT TARGETED, its actually a small AOE thats larger than his auto-attack range. Second: Nidalee was meant to be a joke, a nid with that build means that you should have thrown in the towel a while ago. Third I don't have trouble early game, and its not that i suck at playing, the point i'm trying to make is that HAVING A MODEL A MODEL THAT TAKES UP HALF THE LANE MAKES IT HARD TO DODGE. Is that better? I'm sorry i'm not omnipowerful, how about i list EVERY SINGLE SITUATION WHERE HAVING A HUGE-ASS HITBOX IS BAD? Aatrox you'd eat Q and E in lane Ahri Charms and Q's would land easier. Akali The AoE of her E would land easier. Alistar Your hitbox would be effected by his passive AND Q Amumu his Q, W, E, AND R would be hit you easier BECAUSE YOU HAVE A GIANT HITBOX. Anivia Q would be able to stun you, W, would block you, E, be easier to throw, R would get you fairly easily. Annie Q, would be easier to range, W, would hit you because of your huge hitbox easier, R, would get you easier and she could throw it FURTHER BACK into the carries because of your HUGE model Ashe be able to take MULTIPLE shots from her W, would be easier to execute with ulti. Azir with your model taking up half the lane... do you really think you could get to him without burning flash? Q would tear through you because unlike sometimes where you can get hit by 1 or 2 you'd get hit by all 3 solders pretty regularly.

I've run through all the champions whose name begins with A, do you STILL think that this is "only a few specific situation." because you AREN'T TANKY AT LEVEL 1 NOR 3 NOR 4, maybe at 5 and a back do you get A LITTLE TANKY. but heres the thing: as a person who plays tanks, i don't stand out of the minion wave, unless i have a good reason; the jungler's coming or to protect the adc

#BECAUSE EATING FREE DAMAGE ISN'T TANKING; ITS BEING A MORON.

Do i seem angry? yes i am, I feel a little offended at you calling my argument invalid without understanding it. Having a gigantic model affects the gameplay, meaning that while you can block some more skill-shots you eat more skill-shots, Blocking skillshots is good, Eating skill-shots WILL MAKE YOU DEAD. And yes, some tank's do have mobility spells, however, mobility spells A; cost mana B; cost cooldowns. These 2 facts mean that throwing out Dredge line to escape a binding because your model is too massive to escape it normally have an end result that even if you go to top or stay support you are wasting Mana AND Cool-downs which weaken you for seconds before it comes back up, this situation DOES NOT OCCUR when you have the standard model size... but when you supersize it... #problems.

You seem to be drastically overestimating the size increase dude. We don't need him as big and wide as Cho'gath or as tall as Zac with 10K hp. But bigger regardless. You also act like the hit-box increase would make them trash because they are easier to hit. This is wrong. Like I said but you seemed to ignore model size end up mattering very little in the long run as most skill-shot dodging is done before the skill-shot even fires. Sion for example is huge and slow as crud but still does well just the same. Hit boxes have such a small impact on this game compared to other things. Thats why tanks like Shen and Amumu, who are small do fine at peeling and blocking.

TDubH1 votes

Skill shot dodging is mostly done before the skill-shot is fired

Agreed, However people aren't calling for a "small" model increase, they want the models to get larger, and One does not simply make a model taller without making it wider. The reason why Shen and Amumu work well at blocking and peeling is because they aren't outclassed by oversized models which could block more skill-shots its kind of like this

| carry | amumu <--- skillshot, amumu tanks skill shot , | carry | Nautilus <---- skillshot, Nautilus while slightly larger than amumu isn't drastically larger so its not really a probem '

but then you get: |carry | <--- Skill shot | Nautlus's larger width due to his height increase means he simply can out tank amumu because he now can fit |carry | <--- skill shot two carries behind him fairly easily However that is only in tanking, having a larger model means an easier target to hit, the reason why most skill-shots are dodgeable is because the models are the size they are instead of this size many people want them to be, its ALOT easier to hit 6x Cho than it is to hit annie, no its not because i don't want to hit a child its just that cho's model is quite a bit larger.

DorsalChicken1 votes

Yes your correct. I still feel that a size update for for both Nautilus would be a nice improvement to them. After comparing Naut to the likes of Sion and even Rek'sai (She's huge for her role) I feel that adjusting the him to roughly the same size as Sion would be completely justifiable. Although the problem with that is that Naut's animations and textures could look rather awkward at that size.

On the topic of Malphite well.. I think he just needs a total VU anyway and they should do it then. Although the same things apply to him as with Naut.

FluxBound34 votes

He's not really supposed to dodge if you're a tank. You take the hits like a man to save your pussy teammates while you stroll towards the enemy carry and riptide them apart. And if you really wanna be dodge shots, just keep moving so they shoot into your path, and juke dem "skill"shots

Unskilledtroller27 votes

Umm as support nautilus player, i say early-game eating skill-shots means that its Naut going to be a good game for you.

hitboxes remain the same. There are 3 hitbox size classes iirc

TDubH2 votes

False, Hitbox size does increase for: Cho which means he would have at minimum 4 different hitbox sizes if you only took a hitbox size increase after every 2 stacks Zac (i don't play him enough to give you an estimate.) and any champion jugging elixir. Sion gets a larger hit-box after chugging elixir and his hit-box is already one of the highest.

EDIT: on cho i'm also including elixir of iron.

Tmoose1 votes

Hitboxes do change, Xpecially if his base size is increased. Because then the enemy shoots for you, not your hitbox, so if your animations extend out of your hitbox too much, people will shoot a skillshot for you that would normally hit, but it would now miss.

FantasySniper1 votes

I'd say the (oh so incredibly) slight nerf is a good thing, then.

Venowolf1 votes

Yep! Nautilus have an abysmal shield, he can be a perfect wall to all the skill shots, Malphite need to be bigger too.

sevexpei3 votes

Nunu could probably afford to be a little larger as well.

Venowolf1 votes

AGree!! ;)

Sir Nope1 votes

So his baldness could be better known?

Snowplosion2 votes

No the only reason he is so "small". Riot has purposely reduced him from his "normal" size so him and his abilities look natural and are in a good ratio in the game.

Being bigger means that it makes it more difficult for enemies to target your teammates. Ever fought against full stack Cho in a teamfight? Very infuriating

TDubH1 votes

But Cho's model only gets that large late-game, when you would WANT it to be that large. Early game if cho's model were that large he'd be pretty screwed in several ways.

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

I'd say in his case it would be a good thing. Q-ing to a wall allows him to cancel a lot of cc anyway (especially Blitz)

The one thing I really want for Nautilus:

Pool-Party Nautilus.

Psht. You gotta think big, m8.

Bathtime Nautilus. His Q is a scrub brush, his ult fires a heat seeking rubber ducky that knocks up all in its path. He's a giant bathtub.

Anchorman Nautilus...... I'll just leave this right here.

I'm fine with it as long as they change Naut's lore from "Guy who got trapped in his scuba gear" to something that explains his massive size. The Video, while impressive, doesn't make any sense at all with his origin lore.

I believe the dark water that had dragged him down is what caused him to increase in size as it filled him with (more than likely) dark energies that fused his soul with the suit and it grew in size while his mortal body was destroyed

Implying their cinematics have anything to do with lore.

But you're right, I didn't even realise that, since his lore only says he mended with his diving suit, that would have been a freaking huge ass diving suit.

TDubH2 votes

If you actually look at Diving bells from the 1700's, they have a massive size which gives them A: the capability to sink, B: lots of air, so considering what a "medival" diving suit would look like.......... well I'm kinda OK with it being huge.

Squidblimp5 votes

They also texture rebalanced him and now he looks like a shiny plastic toy.

Solari Fortune4 votes

They have to downsize a lot of champs from what they actually are in the world of RuneTerra, Naut Cho Malph, their HUGE. Even Rek'sai, she is the size of a house

terkmc5 votes

Dont need to be to scale, but at least bigger than he is right now, as big as Sion

but what if the shurumans were actually midgets and their houses are actually just a few feet tall
