Why was Inquisitor changed to Warden?

I liked Inquisitor more. It made sense when compared to Marauder, and honestly, now I'm going to think of Sivir and Nautilus as prison guards.

This was my first thought when I saw the skin names. But it's not as if Bioware can trademark the term.

GamesWorkshop trademarked "Space Marine". Just saying. Like, a writer got sent a C&D letter from GW for using the term Space Marine in their novel.

But the word "Inquisitor" is already highly used, it's even part of history (Spanish Inquisition), and there are other games that make use of it besides Dragon Age.

eh, warden's are generally seem more like tough as nails guards/guardians. Not a force that actively hunts down/pursues their targets like the name "inquisitor" (although, to be fair, I did feel inquisitor is more suited for long flowy pompus mage-like feel)

So while I don't think it was wrong to change the name, I just feel that warden isn't any better than inquisitor...

(I'm assuming that warden/inquisitor is the paladin/antithesis of the maurader skin line)

How does Warden feel more imposing/foreboding than Inquisitor though? The latter feels like you hunt down heretics. The former feels like you guard their cells.

Yeah I have to agree with you on that one. Most of the time I like their name changes; but I really prefer Inquisitor in this case.

99% of people think the same. When I think of an Inquisitor I think of the Spanish Inquisition murdering people, when I think of a warden I think of a fat and useless cop eating doughnuts.

This change is just as dumb as Dauntless being changed to Challenger.

While I'm a fan of Project Yasuo and Challenger Ahri, and can see the logic behind Archlight Vel'Koz, I wish you'd allow us to vote on skin names in the future.

It's kind of strange that they changed it to Arclight Vel'Koz though. He's more visually similar to Justicar Aatrox (Blue and Gold color scheme, metal/armor), and Justicar Syndra is more similar to Arclight Varus (White and Gold color scheme, feathers).

It would kind of make more sense for them to be Justicar Aatrox and Vel'Koz, and Arclight Varus and Syndra, OR just make them the same skin line

If you wanted these skins to feel imposing/foreboding, then you would have kept it as Inquisitor.

Warden doesn't sound imposing/foreboding. Inquisitor does.

I feel like there is a more deserving word over both inquisitor and warden. An Inquisitor seeks you down and asks questions, which is much more fitting if they are going to be hunting down someone. But the asking a question, an inquisition, doesn't really fit the feel that these champions will give off with these skins. And warden makes me think they are guarding something. What on earth are they guarding? They are chase champions through and through. It just doesn't fit.

I suggest something more along the lines of Enforcer, Martinet, Fanatic.

I guess that takes my thoughts to 'The Grey Wardens' for Dragon Age. They're wardens because they guard against evil, fighting the darkspawn and all. Warden Naut and Sivir are protecting people from the marauders.

I am now totally okay with the name change :).

Fair warning, it's not always the best idea to change a name seemingly arbitrarily. Sometimes, people get attached to a name, and in some cases will fight tooth and nail to defend it.

My problem with the name change is it completely changes the feel of the skins. Wardens aren't usually seen as vehicles for good, they are usually seen as corrupt enforcers who just happen to be on the side of "the law". I mean I think everyone has seen The Shawshank Redemption (hyperbole, but only slightly).

Inquisitor gives more of a feel of pure lawful good. They might do horrible things, but they never waver in their pursuit of good. They are the exact opposite of corrupt.

Bioware might have sent a strongly worded letter to Riot, so they could have changed the name for that reason.

Now they are warden skins, that seem to be the most odd tone of grey...

Maybe some of Riot staff is a fan of Dragon Age Origins rather than Inquisitor, so Warden > Inquisitor?

An Inquisitor is a person that asks questions while a Warden is a person that oversees a place and makes sure that the rules/criteria are being met

Wish Nautilus got a Marauder skin instead but I get the reason for Sivir to get an Inquisitor skin because she is a bounty hunter and Nautilus getting an Inquisitor skin because he is searching for his old crew to enact revenge. Warden doesn't really give me the reason for why Nautilus and Sivir got the skins.
