Abilities

  • Passive: Chaos Theory- Cooldown Reduction does not effect Thax's abilities' cooldowns. Instead, cooldown reduction increases gives his abilities the chance to critically strike every time they deal damage (2% Critical Strike Chance for every 1% Cooldown Reduction), dealing 75% (+1% per 1% Cooldown Reduction over 50%) bonus damage, and has no cap on Cooldown Reduction. In addition, Thax's abilities have cooldown ranges that the cooldown timer randomly starts within.

  • Q: Chaos Orb- (10-6, 9-5, 8-4, 7-3, 6-2) second cooldown; 60 Mana; Ability Type: Skillshot; Range: 650; Width: 200; Speed: 550

Thax launches a chaos orb that travels until it hits the first unit along it's path, or it runs into terrain. If the unit hit is an enemy, the ball deals (60, 100, 140, 180, 220)(+50% AP) magic damage to that unit. If that unit is an ally, the ball grants them +(10%, 12.5%, 15%, 17.5%, 20%) bonus movement speed for 2.5 seconds. After the ball reaches the end of it's path, or if it hits a unit or terrain, it pauses for 0.25 seconds, then shoots out in a random direction (away from the terrain if that's what it hit). If it hits a unit, it goes into the unit, applying the effects, and shooting out of the unit in a random direction after 0.5 seconds. It can ricochet like this 6 times, dealing 50% damage to that enemies that have already been hit by a Chaos ball within the last 3 seconds.

  • W: Uncertainty Principle- 12-7 second cooldown; 70 Mana; Ability Type: Dash, AoE, Clone Creation; Range: 500; Area of Effect radius: 150; Angle of Dash: 30°; Dash Speed: 750

Thax generates a clone of himself that deals no damage with basic attacks or other effects besides Uncertainty Principle, lasting 4 seconds, and dashes at an angle from the direction of the spell cast. The clone goes at an angle that is equal but opposite to the angle Thax goes. Both the clone and Thax deal (60, 90, 120, 150, 180)(+50%) Magic Damage to enemies around them at the end of the dash. For the duration of the clone's existence, Thax may recast this spell to trade places with the clone once. The clone can be commanded with ALT + Right Click.

  • E: Entropy Field- (20-13, 19-12, 18-11, 17-10, 16-9) second cooldown; 70 Mana; Ability Type: AoE; Range: 500; Radius: 350

Thax creates a field that lasts 6 seconds and afflicts enemies with stacks of Entropy every second, lasting 4 seconds and increasing the damage dealt to them by (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%) per stack. At 4 stacks, enemies can no longer gain any more stacks, but have their damage reduced by (5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15%) for the next 4 seconds.

  • R: Chaos Pillars- (120-100, 105-85, 90-70) second cooldown; 100 Mana; Ability Type: Channel, Terrain Creation, AoE; Range: 600; Radius: 600; Terrain Radius: 100; Channel Time: 2 seconds

Thax channels for a short time, then creates 5 Chaos Pillars in an area in the shape of an X in a large area, lasting 6 seconds. During the duration, if a Chaos Orb hits one of the Chaos Pillars, it deals a quarter of the damage in the area, and then splits the Chaos Orb into two Chaos Fragments that shoot out in random directions. Chaos Fragments act exactly like Chaos Orbs, except that when they hit Chaos Pillars, they don't split into two more Chaos Fragments and, instead, just shoot out in a random direction.

I don't understand the dislike.

Well maybe we can shed some light on that:

Passive: Randomness is an annoying part of gameplay and giving spells the ability to critically strike seems very strange, because spells aren’t as numerous as AA, which makes lucky crits more unpredictable and impactful. Even the CD timer are random, which isn’t really fun to play against.

Q: Again randomness… The MS buff seems unnecessary btw.

W: Interesting idea, but very weird. Apart from seeming like a mix between LB Passive and W it also feels out of place on this champion.

E: % Damage increase has the problem of being an easily overlooked effect, but the idea is interesting.

R: Doesn’t feel like an ultimate, mainly because it only interacts with Q and therefore suffers the problem of Qs random targeting.

Overall: There seems to be a lack of theme in my opinion, apart from being random your champion seems to lack a gameplan or power fantasy to pursue. He also has no way to keep enemies in E, no way to get enemies hit with Q and therefore R and no reason apart from escaping to use W, making the kit feel unfocused.

TL;DR: Unfair Randomness is frowned upon in game design.
