HP 425 HP Regen 7.25 (+.7) AD 55 (+3.5) AS .7 (+3%) AP 0 (+0) Armor 20 (+3.25) MR 30 (+0) MS 345 Range 475

Background (Not sure plz post ideas)

Passive: Quiver

Thrain’s resource is Arrows. Thrain’s AAs and abilities deplete Arrows from his Quiver. Each AA costs 1 Arrow. Thrain can only get Arrows back by returning to spawn or using his E. Thrain starts with a 25 arrows quiver and gains 15 arrows for each point in his ult.

Passive: Pinned

Thrain’s 4th AA on a traget pin the target to the ground rooting them for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 sec (increases at lvls 4/8/12/16)and dealing an extra 10 (+5 × lvl) (+50% Bonus AD) damage. This effect can only happen to a person every 12/10/8/6 sec.

Q: Quadruple Threat

CD: 8 All ranks Cost: 4 Arrows

When Thrain Casts this ability he is able to choose from 4 different arrows from his quiver (Like Twisted Fate’s “Pick a Card”).

**Armor Piercing ** ~ Thrain’s next AA deals 140/150/160/170/180% of his Bonus AD and reduces the target's Armor by 20/35/50/65/80 for 4 sec.

**Explosive ** ~ Thrain’s next AA sticks to his target for 5 sec. At the end of the time, the arrow explodes dealing 70/100/130/160/190 (+100% AD) to the target and all enemies within a 150 radius. If the target is killed before the arrow explodes, the arrow sticks into the ground where the target was killed and explodes after 3 sec dealing the same damage in a 250 radius. This ability can be reactivated before the arrow explodes to explode the arrow manually. When the arrow explodes it reveals a 500 unit area.

**Tracking Dart ** ~ Thrain’s next AA does an additional 20/35/50/65/80 (+40% Bonus AD) damage and reveal target for 4/5/6/7/8 sec. Also AAs against a "Tracked" target slow the target by 20/30/40/50/60% for 2 sec.

**Incendiary ** ~ Thrain’s next AA ignites the target hit and deals 9/12/15/18/21 (+8% Bonus AD) damage per .5 sec for 5 sec, for a total of 90/120/150/180/210 (+80% Bonus AD) damage.

W: Grapple:

CD: 12/11/10/9/8 Range: 1000 Cost: 1 Arrow

Thrain shoots a grapple arrow in a target direction. If it hits Terrain he is pulled to the spot where it hits. If it hits a champion or enemy unit the grapple wraps around them rooting them for **.25 sec **then slowing them by 40/50/60/70/80% for 2 sec and takes 40/75/110/145/170 (+50% Bonus AD) damage.

E: Fletching:

CD: 35/30/25/20/25

Passive: Thrain gains 50/75/100/150 range and 25/35/45/55/65 Bonus AD

Active: After a 1.5 sec channel Thrain makes 10/15/20/25/30 Arrows.

R: Rain of Fire:

CD: 120/90/60 Range: 800 Radius: 300 Cost: 10 Arrows

Passive: Thrain Gains 15/30/45 Arrows to his Quiver

Thrain unleashes a flurry of incendiary arrows afflicting enemies with the Pinned root duration (See passive) and dealing 100/180/260 (+80% AD) in a 300 unit radius. The arrows also ignited the area and deal 15/18/21 (+8% Bonus AD) damage per .5 sec for 5 sec, for a total of 150/180/210 (+80% Bonus AD) damage.

Upon Selection: “One arrow… One more lifeless body”

Taunts [Takes apple out of jacket] "Time for some target practice... [Takes bite of of apple] I'll give you till I finish this apple."

[Takes appple out of jacket] "I wouldn't be afraid of me missing the apple... [Throw apple into air and shoots it with and exploding arrow] I would be afraid of what I will hit next."

I like the idea of a utility archer with lots of different tools at his disposal based on his mechanized quiver. could you expand on the concept of his appearances? Is he the creator of his quiver, or is it just a tool that he uses in his line of work? I feel like his skills lean him towards the more gadgety side. maybe the rest of his appearances can compliment it in some way? I imagine anyone who has the tech savy to aquire a fancy quiver with explosive rounds, grapling hooks etc might have a cleaner look and not come off as such an experience survivalist type.

I feel like it would be more fitting to make a survivalist skin for the character, but it would be stronger thematically to have the primary skin more representative of the personality and background of the character, whatever that is. That is your choice, but I do think you should expand on it a tad.

edit: are you the creator of the art? I see some of the images are from different sources. If you made them very nice job.

What would you guys think about replacing his EMP with a Tracking Dart which would do an additional 20/35/50/65/80 (+40% Bonus AD) damage and reveal target for 4/5/6/7/8 sec. Also AAs against a "Tracked" traget slow the target by 20/30/40/50/60% for 2 sec

Good idea for a champion here, I like his resource. I'm not sure I know what to say about his abilities. I mean they aren't too similar to any other champions, however there's nothing about them that makes you want to play him.

Hello love the idea of an ammo based marksman for League, I'll give feedback on the Stats and kit as a whole and how and where he'd be played in the game as well as how i'd build him and where. Okay so lets begin.

First Impressions Thrain is a marksman who excels in engaging 1v1 fights. With high base movement speed a Gap closing ability, and rather high CC for a ranged AD champion. Fetching is the cornerstone of this kit as it is the primary way Thrain regains arrows. Quadruple threat seems to be a bit overwhelming in the sense there is too much stacked on it. The ability will rarely be used at most points in the game due to the high cost of the ability. Grapple seems like a mix between Thresh and Nautilus, which can be good as long as it is different enough to not steal parts of their identity. The ult is pretty cool since it deals damage on hot and damage over time as well as applying Pinned.

Passive: Quiver and Pinned As stated before I love the ammo system for ranged champions. It allows for higher scaling abilities and generally higher stats all around. It makes the champion a lot more difficult to play which in turn makes it more rewarding for players to master him. One of Riot's core values and makes the game a bit more healthy. Though I think the walking over dead units to recover arrows should be removed. It seems like a good idea in theory but in practice you have something of a thresh soul collecting feel which would become a tedious chore for any non-support champion.

Pinned is fine, though as a damage granting passive with CC its too high. Either nerf CC or nerf the damage, I'd recommend damage. The passive also applies to more than just champions which I like since, in game it would have an indicator of being up and thus counterplay through forcing Thrain to proc the passive on a minion.

Q: Quadruple threat This ability has too much attached to it. I'd recommend removing the Incendiary arrows since it's what his ult uses. The Armor Piercing is cool though make the armor shred flat instead of percentile. As it is now He could build item 3071 and item 3035 and shred 65% and ignore another 35%. No this doesn't technically mean true damage but pretty close. Explosive Arrow is good and reminds me of Zilean time bomb with an added twist of another delay if the target is killed. EMP should be a slight stun instead of a silence. Silences in this game are too strong. The scaling on this skill is also too high and you should really think about what making it deal magic damage would do. The EMP arrow only needs to stun and deal slight damage, since Armor Piercing and Explosive sound more damaging.

W: Grapple I'd recommend changing "land" to "terrain" so the pull doesn't trigger any time the ability misses but only if it hits a wall. I think this ability should be focused more on utility and less on CC and damage. The slow can be a static 50% because 60%+ is kinda too strong for a 3 second slow. The root is fine but the "Thresh" pull has to be triggered during this time and not during the slow. If Thrain can pull himself to them after the root he could follow through flashes and such and not allowing players to flash safely for 3.5 seconds from 1 ability is not fun.

E: Fetching Just love this ability can't stress it enough really. Passive range increase is good giving Thrain real weakness early game. Though he only matches most AD carries when at maxed rank. I think you could push past that a bit. 625 at max rank doesn't seem too bad to me. Would put him past Anivia, Ashe and Zilean but still under Caitlyn and the rest of the Range heavy champs. The active is well balanced for the cooldown and the fact that it's a channel, and channels can be interrupted.

R: Rain of Fire Ultimate seems pretty balanced, a bit undertuned actually. Although its an AOE root and DOT the AD scaling of 60% is a bit low for an Ultimate. Feel free to make it closer to 100% since the range and AOE are a bit low.

Picking Lanes He doesn't have the attack range to lane against any mages or other marksmen at low levels and would be bullied out of lane and zoned away from farm. Though maxing E could remedy that a bit. He also doesn't have any skill shots which is very bad for a marksman in the bot lane. Personally I'd play him in the top lane, not sure if that was what you were going for but that's just where I see him doing the best.

The Build Thrain, from his kit and stats, is an assassin, high rations and base damage, armor shred native to kit, high CC. As such I'd build him with the following. item 3006 - item 3071 or item 3142 - item 3153 - item 3035 - item 3155 or item 3156 - item 3026. With those items your looking at 175 AD, 48% AS, 250 health,50 Armor, 80 MR, 10 flat and 35% Armor pen, 10% Life Steal and 10% CDR. Which is pretty good since the passives on the items would make Thrain exceptionally tanky for the damage he'd output. also Like I've stated before with Armor piercing and this build you are looking at 40% from Q, 35% from Last Whisper, and 25% armor reduction with 5 stacks of Black cleaver for a total of 75% + 10 AR Pen and 25% armor reduction. Tanks beware.

Changed EMP to Tracking Dart

SpiceIsRight1/11/2015, 3:31:30 PM1 votes

Passive: I'm really loving the ammo system with meaningful return of ammo from slain enemy targets (feels like arrows). However, the "Pinned" portion is too strong in my opinion. To have an auto-based instant root is better than any other root mechanic in the game if I'm not mistaken, and it doesn't even require an ability to use (even timer isn't ample enough to counterbalance it). Honestly, I think it would be cool to move your Q to your passive where every X auto fires a trick arrow based on the last ability used (so if you used Q last, the arrow is explosive, W last = armor piercing etc...). This would give you more open flexibility with Q and make the passive more interactive and balanced.

Q: See remarks about Passive

W: Rather than make this a thresh hook, I think the terrain pull fits, but the enemy hit should be as a Rengar bola (can even be animated like that with release of line after it wraps around target). It just doesn't fit well and isn't unique otherwise.

E: I like it :) keep it as is

R: This is the sort of ultimate an archer should have ;) Imagine now if the reworked passive came into play and trick shots of all variety rained down?

I like this champion more than rest so far because of unique fun mechanics. Keep up the good work.

SpiceIsRight1/11/2015, 10:17:58 PM1 votes

I see what you mean on passive, but maybe we can find another route? Rather than each auto, perhaps only the first auto after an ability or every X auto. Right now the sheer rooting potential is like Naut on crack (he only gets 1.5 sec max rank and he's melee!).

SpiceIsRight1/11/2015, 11:21:30 PM1 votes

That's definitely better on tract with every 3rd auto, just make sure you keep the "Can only only happen every so often on a target" aspect

I like it a lot it seems like a very unique adc. I would lower the cost of his Q to 1 arrow, It makes sense, while he may have four different options he still can only fire 1 per use of the ability. I would also lower the cost of his ultimate to one arrow per target,* if* I am understanding his ult properly he fires one arrow at each target in range when he activates his ultimate.

From there I would also streamline his resource a bit.

I would remove the picking up arrows allowing him to focus more on his farming and harass or Another option that I actually like more is to leave arrows on the ground from minion/monster kills (removing the 3 sec limit), lower the number of arrows he has drastically overall and decrease the cool down of Fletching's active. For example, while movies and video games show ridiculous amounts of ammo for archers my combat archery quiver for the SCA only allows me about 15 arrows, granted the padded heads take up so much space and the quiver base is padded to keep them from shaking loose if i need to run somewhere. If i changed those factors I could probably fit easily double or triple my original number of 15. I would say start him at 45, then increase by 15 with each ulti. I mean, if you are getting every minion with only last hits you only need 6-7 per minion wave, if you were idealy picking back up half of these after 3 minion waves you would only be out 9, say that those were the first three waves after you backed with lvl 6 that would still leave you with 51 that leaves enough in the quiver for you to fire your ultimate 5 times with 10 targets in range each time (if each target hit costs one arrow).

Other than that He looks really interesting and unique to league.
