Background:

Plz Post Ideas

Passive: Scorching Steel:

Every time Basset uses an ability his furnace overheats igniting his axe blade for 6 sec and making his AA deal an additional 4 (+2 × Champion level) True Damage . This can stack up to 3 times.

Q:Spontaneous Combustion:

CD: 6 sec All Ranks Mana Cost: 50/60/70/80/90 AoE Radius: 200 Units

Basset’s Furnace releases an explosion of flames all around him dealing 40/70/100/130/160 (+ 60% AD) Physical Damage and ignoring 20/25/30/35/40% of the target's Armor and applying a 20% Slow for 1 sec. The Cooldown is reduced by 1 sec for each stack of Scorching Steel. The stack granted by casting this ability doesn’t affect its Cooldown. The Slow is increased by 10% for each stack of Scorching Steel.

W:Shield Slam:

Passive

Landing a killing blow with this ability grants Basset 1 Armor, this is increased to 5 Armor if it kills a champion.

Active

CD: 12 All Ranks Mana Cost: 35/40/45/50/55 Cast Range: 500 Units

Enemy Cast: Basset fires a shockwave from his shield into an enemy dealing 20/30/40/50/60 (+80% Bonus AD) (+3 × Number of Stacks) True Damage. If it kills the target the Cooldown is reduced by 75%.

Ally Cast Basset fires a shockwave from his shield into an Ally giving them 30/40/50/60/70% MS for 4 sec and 10/20/30/40/50 (+2 × Number of Stacks) Armor for 6 sec.

Self Cast Basset upgrades is shield giving him a 100/135/170/205/240 (+ 4 × Number of Stacks) shield for 4 sec.

E:Black Powder Bomb:

CD: 22/19/16/13/10/7 Mana Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 Range: 575 Units AoE: 350 Units

Basset throws a bomb to a target area that explodes after 1 sec delay dealing 20/60/100/140/180 (+125% Bonus AD) Physical Damage and ignores 25% of the target's Armor. The delay is decreased by .25 sec for each stack of Scorching Steel Basset has.

R:Unstable Furnace:

CD: 160/120/80 Mana Cost: 130/110/90 Range: 700/750/800 Units AoE: 650 Units

Basset’s furnace begins to overheat giving him 60/70/80% MS and 3 stacks of Scorching steel for 6/7/8 sec. During the duration he can reactivate the ability to fling his furnace off this back to a target location were after a .5 sec delay explodes dealing 250/400/550 (+ 150% Bonus AD) Physical Damage and applying a 40% Slow. At the end of the duration if he hasn’t thrown the furnace, it explodes around him dealing 250/400/550 (+ 150% Bonus AD) Physical Damage and also applying a 40% Slow.

Upon Selection:

"What weapon catches your fancy"

Upon Being Summoned

"Weapons fresh out of the forge" "Firing up the forge"

Upon Movement:

"Places to go... Weapons to forge" "The will know first hand the sharpness of my blades" "The heat is building" "Sharpening my blade"

Upon Attacking

"Come and get your Weapon" "You can't hangle the forge's heat" "Left in the ashes" "The work of my hands... Your demise" "The forge's heat... Leaves you in flames" "my steels burns the flesh" "You body will whet my blade"

I don't see the whole bilgewater to him. I do howver see that if he were more rugged, or mysterious, he could be a Black-Market-Smith.

How i'd change Bass, and why:

Heat, not Mana. At 50% heat, his abilites have extra effects but cost him HP to use. He only earns heat by using Spontaneous Combustion or Unstable Furnace. Unlike Rumble Heat, He is not silenced at 100% Heat. He's using a furnace, not the arcane.

Passive Tempered Steel "Bass' weapons are made strong, belittling his opponent's armaments." Targets hit by Bass' abilities and basic attacks become marked by him, the next basic attack on a marked enemy deals 30% of Bass's armor and the target's armor as true damage. Can only affect the same enemy every 10 seconds.

I would make that change due to him gaining permanent armor bonuses from kills with W,as well it would make him more centered to anti-tanking, but not general anti-everyone.He's the dude who goes in first, bursts a tank for his team and gets out so Darius gets an easy ult in.

W Shield Bash I would change that this be a skillshot with a short range. All allies affected get the ally bonus, every subsequent enemy after the first takes reduced damage. Marked enemies who are hit by Shield Bash activate Tempered Steel and take true damages.

This change is to give him more presence, and also to make him a bigger help to his teammates directly while pushing or defending equally.

R Unstable Furnace (Toggle) Bass overheats his furnace, causing his passive Tempered Steel to deal 60% of his armor and his enemy's armor as true damage when marked, as well as cause an AoE which deals magic damage to targets around Bass and Mark them. After a few seconds, Bass' furnace will become unstable and begin to deal percents of his HP as true damage to himself. This affect stops automatically if Bass gets too low HP. As Bass has this toggled on, his heat bar will go up. If heat is above 50% Bass will take damage from this ability. Can be toggled on and off with 1 s cooldown at all ranks.

I feel he already has enough firey explosives from his Q and his E. This also allows for him to have his own unique game mechanic, having to decide whether dealing high damage is worth it in blood.

Q Spontaneous Combustion Deals Magic damage in an area around Bass and slows enemies for 30% for 1 sec. Also marks enemies hit. If above 50% heat, this ability also deals a percent of Bass' health to himself and enemies affected. When activated, Bass gains heat.

Mainly just updating how it would change with the use of heat instead of mana.

E Black Powder Bass lays down some black powder in an area that dissapates after 5 seconds, or ignites earlier if Spontaneous Combustion or Unstable Furnace are activated above it. Marks enemies. Enemies who walk through the powder will leave a trail of it behind them which scts like the powder placed, igniting if Bass uses Q or R over the trail. Enemies leave a visible trail that does not reveal fog of war or enemies themselves hidden in the fog of war.

This change allows Bass to track enemies down and continue to keep his mark on them during a fight.

Love the idea of this dude and hope you enjoy my suggestions.

Yes this is a very nice concept. Over the time that I have been on the boards I have reviewed many Blacksmith, and Forge concepts. The theme is a favorite of mine, and yours by far stands out from the rest. I think that it was very well done. While it is nearly impossible to catch every aspect of what it means to be a Blacksmith, you have caught

P: it steps on GP's toes a bit, but it fits your champion a Blacksmth much better anyways. Especially how it connects to his abilities? Will it have a CD if it reaches max stacks?

Your images are very fitting and it's nice that you made him from Bilgewater, are you riding the coattails of this Burning Tides event? I could totally see Riot releasing a champion like this for the event.

The champs pretty sweet dude

not sexist of anything, but i think it would be cool if this character was a female, like a heavy set female blacksmith would be really cool, especially considering we already have gragas, being a big dude, we should get a girl :3 and yes girls can be blacksmiths, just look at Lisbeth from SAO

Neat champion

How does this look for Shield Slam's Active

Basset fires a shockwave from his shield enemies hit are damaged for 20/30/40/50/60 (+80% AD) (+3 × Number of Stacks) True Damage. If it kills the target the Cooldown is reduced by 75%. Additionaly Allies hit by the shockwave gain 30/40/50/60/70% MS for 4 sec and 10/20/30/40/50 (+2 × Number of Stacks) Armor for 6 sec.

sion?

KitSun08/3/2015, 8:26:20 PM1 votes

I honestly think this champion would be a bit situational as the extra armor boost would make him naturally tanky versus AD teams but if he builds full AD he would be melted by people like Ahri, Leblanc, and other people.

SpiceIsRight9/6/2015, 10:47:15 PM1 votes

Hey Bud, as requested I will start with Basset:

Here are a few recommendations and comments-

Passive:

  • Thematically this is a cool idea; however, it's nearly identical to Gangplank's reworked passive in both feel and end result.
  • Here's my thoughts, since Basset is a smith, he could have a salvage-theme passive where minions and monsters have a chance to drop "Scrap-metal" upon death (similar to Tresh souls). Upon obtaining X pieces of Scrap Metal, Basset could forge an upgraded "Ultimate" Axe at the fountain shop (would have an Axe special to him at the shop with 3 different abilities depending on which you'd like to build).

Q:

  • This is sort of a Zac's W meets GP barrel, there isn't anything wrong with that, but the similarity might warrant tweaking.
  • I think the slow and armor ignore should be removed.
  • You could add an effect where enemies hit by the flames become ignited (taking damage over time) and also spread the flame to nearby enemies.

W:

  • Same passive on Garen Rework, so needs some tweaks (I think if extra armor is wanted, Basset could utilize the scrap metal idea for that as well, maybe for his shield?).
  • I like the enemy/ally cast, but true damage has to go.

E:

  • Pretty good as is!
  • Might I suggest a reduction in armor for X seconds rather than the bomb itself ignoring the % armor?

R:

  • Really cool idea, I especially like how the furnace can be flung. What if before the furnace detonates, it shoots out X bombs randomly around it for some added fun?

Hope the brainstorming helps! :) if you find time and would like to, I changed Mavrik's E since Rito used a very similar ability for Ekko.

Awesome concepts as always

LunaGalaxy1410/21/2016, 7:28:53 AM1 votes

I mostly scanned your abilities and I stopped at his W. While gaining armor like how Nasus's Q gains damage is cool, I believe you should put a limit on the amount of armor he gains (which can scale per rank), because of how snowbally this can get. Adding a viable limit will still benefit players who farm well with their W with bonus tankiness while restricting him from the Nasus predicament where the player farms all game phases for as much armor as possible.

The limit could be low at the start (for early game) and ramp at an accelerated rate. Otherwise, if you keep it the way it is now, he can easily build just Attack Damage without building any armor or HP items.

I also have some underlying concern that the enemy cast part of his W might be too similar due to its target point and click and the range is slightly (can't confirm) higher than Nasus's Q. Maybe you could add some (more?) sort of interaction and/or trade between him and the enemy?

Otherwise, all of his other parts, theme, quotes, and kit, seems fine (to me anyways lol).

the design is amazing, this is the first concept design ive ever seen that actually fits into league of legends perfectly. i like the design of his weapon, but i will say in order to sharpen this concept to be any better, he needs a story. the story of a character tells you how they may think and interact with the environment of runeterra, this also give's a good idea on what ability's they while have and interactions with other characters. the black smith idea has a wide verity of ideas for what you can do with him (seeing how many people on here have different ideas on how they think a concept of a blacksmith might work). another thing that needs a little clarification is what class or role is he to be in, it does feel that he might be a hybrid between a fighter and a support, leaning more towards fighter though. the ability's he has so far only feel like state buffs with not enough unique utility to his kit. i think you should lean heavily on him being a support fighter since their aren't any like that in the bot lane, of course if you did this they would also be able to go top.

even though there isn't enough story yet, i would also like to give some ideas to think about:

note: i didn't include costs since i wanted to think more on the idea and i also didn't think of something for the ultimate since i wanted to focus more on the core of the characters kit first.

**Passive - Deadly Upgrade: ** nearby champions or every 3rd enemy minion that dies near basset drop 2 Metal. apon gaining 10 Metal he can upgrade a nearby ally champion weapon by clicking on them and after a 0.75 second delay granting them (4/6/8/10+2.5% of Bassets maximum health) as true damage on basic attacks and (10+ 2 per level) movement speed out of combat for the next (5 + 2.5 per level) seconds. **(18 (- 0.5 per level) second cooldown) **

Q: Scorching Steel - Passive: his basic attack scorches his target making them unable to regain a portion of their health from the damage of the attack for 3 seconds and dealing (20 + 5 per level (+100% of Base AD)) true damage on the first hit and his basic attacks deals (5 + 2.5 per level(60% of Base AD)) magic damage to the target for the duration. (maximum 2/2/2/3/3 charges)

Cooldown: 5 seconds at all levels

W: Excess Metal / Barricade - Passive: every time Basset Upgrades an allies weapon or structure he fills his health bar with the excess metal granting him a shield that absorbs 10(+6/7.5/7/7.5/8% of maximum armor) until broken by an enemy and this can only be stacked up to 3 times.

once Basset has **10 Metal **he may use Barricade

Active: Basset creates a Barricade that enemy's cant pass on the ground in a target area that blocks the next 5 attacks that hit it. allies may also attack from behind it and if activated on a structure it creates a Barricade around the base of the turret. Barricades last for 15 seconds.

Cooldown: 0 seconds Cost: 10 Metal Range: 300 units Width: 400/425/450/475/500 units

E: Black Powder Bomb - Active: Basset throws a bag of powder that explodes on impact applying Black Powder for 4 seconds to targets hit and slowing them by 40% for 1 second. hitting targets that have Black Powder on them with Scorching Steel or an ally that has Deadly Upgrade consume the mark.

Black Powder: once consumed the target is dealt 50/70/90/110/130(+20% of their armor) also dealing 40/50/60/70/80% of the damage around them and for the next 2.5 seconds their armor broken by 20%.

Cooldown: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 seconds Range: 700 units

Since I am bad with the comments and idea thing, I am just here to let you know that I think this champion looks extremely fun.

The visual images help with the imaginary gameplay in my mind.

I agree with a few comments saying the lack of tie to bilgewater, but I can totally see him ties it from his lore and background.

Cool ideas. I especially like the stacking armor (mostly because I have a thing for infinite stacking), and this champ is actually pretty well designed. I'm wondering, where would you want this champion to go and what strategic niche do you want him to fill? It's important to have a general idea of this so you don't get sidetracked by explosions and big damage abilities. It also helps balance. Overall pretty sweet, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it :)
