[Champion Concept] Venessia -Image of the Mirror

Overview Venessia is an energetic archer. She masters the magic mirror creation skill. Her kit rewards people that have good prediction and calculation. Although, she can't jump or dash like an archer's stereotype, but she's capable of casting magic skills and blowing up person from far away


Background

"What a dazzling light?", I spoke to myself. "Where am I?", I realized that none of my memory could be recalled. Only the red of blood could be seen in my surrounding. I tried to stand on my feet. As I walked out from the cave, I found myself on a jungle. "What am I doing here?", I kept mumbling toward myself.

With a bow in my hand, I searched for the truth. The forest amazed me with its stunning beauty. It erased my confusion. My body moved freely. I haven't seen something like this. In my vague memory was all about metal and smokes. I danced my feet on the field.

However, some nasty creatures appeared before my eyes. Their fangs only shouted hunger. I tried to run. But they were fast. My hand reached my arrow, and started shooting at them. All of the arrows hit them. and their blood spoils. My technique becomes better the more I shoot my arrow. It felt like I have done this before. It felt like I have years of training under my belt, and slowly remembering its grip

All of them were wiped. But the bloods tainted everything. The beauty that I adore, have been destroyed by the blood of those mindless creatures. Angers filled me. But a sound filled my ears. Something big coming.

It was a big monster. A giant. His presence forced me to ran. He was slow, that I was capable to overrun him. "Maybe I can escape from him", I thought. But I couldn't allow that. With his power, he could kill a thousand other creatures, making more blood besmirched the grass. But if I killed him, only his blood would spill. In the end, nature would be tainted, it's inevitable. But if I did nothing, worse thing would happen. "I have no choice", I tried to convince myself.

I slowed myself. Keeping a fixed distance from him. Thinking what should I do to him. Then my blur memory became more and more real. I remember the art of mirror. I created multiple mirrors on this area, and went inside one of them. He destroyed it. But I came out from the other mirror, and shoot him. He looked at me, chased me. But I hid in the mirror. When he destroyed it, I came from another mirror, inflicting damage to him. Till his breath came to an end.

Though it was an easy kill, cleaning his spilled blood was the hardest part. But seeing everything became green again, is one of the greatest pleasure.

Up to this day, I still don't understand who am I, or where am I. My memory isn't complete. All I know is the greatness of nature, and the disgusting predator. If there's no mindless killer, I will be happy here, running and dancing like a child, growing plants like a mature, and feeling glory of being human.

Passive: Archer's Will Stored Arrow : Venessia stores an arrow every 2 seconds. Up to 4 arrows max

Shoot of Precision : Venessia loses her ability to do normal basic attack. Instead, she can press "A" to expend a stored arrow towards pointed location. This arrow has the range of 600 and deals (60% of AD) + (80% of AP) physical damage to the first enemy hit. If the arrow travels more than 800 range, its damage will be increased by 25%.

This skill is counted as basic attack and apply on hit


First Skill: Mirror Make Cooldown: 16/114/12/10/8 Mana : 20/25/30/35/40 Max number of mirror : 25

After 1.5 seconds delay, Venessia will create a magic mirror in a pointed location. The mirror faces towards the same direction as Venessia's when cast this spell. Magic Mirror has 2/3/4/5/6 + (1 per 175 AP) hp. Enemy basic attack deals 1 damage to the mirror. If any projectile (excluding enemy's basic attack) hit the magic mirror from the front side, it will change the direction of the projectile.

The direction's change follows the rule of plane mirror reflection. The reflected projectile, move 15% faster, and gain 50% (67% for Venessia's) base range as bonus range. There's no limit on how many a projectile can be reflected


Second Skill: Forth Dimension Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12 Mana: 150

Passive : Venessia can click on a mirror to get inside of the mirror. Regenerating 2% of her max mana per 5 seconds. If the mirror destroyed while Venessia is inside, Venessia will be forced out and stunned for 0.5 sec. Venessia can get out from the mirror by clicking outside the mirror. Venessia can activate this skill while in the mirror

Active : Venessia teleport to other mirror. This skill has cast range of 750. The next shoot of precision will be energized. If the energized attack hits an enemy champion, it will deal bonus 10/20/30/40/50 + (20% of AP) as magic damage and reduce this skill's cooldown by 5. When teleporting, there's no animation so the enemy won't know which mirror contains Venessia.


Third Skill: Pain Reminder Cooldown: 22/20/18/16/14 Mana: 100

First Cast : Venessia prepares her magical shoot for 3 seconds max. While preparing, she is slowed by 25%

Second Cast : Venessia shoots her magical arrow. Dealing minimum 30/60/90/120/150 + (30% of AP) to maximum 50/100/150/200/250 + (72% of AP) magic damage to first champion hit. The longer Venessia prepared her shoot, the greater the damage of this arrow.

The range of this skill is 1000. If the arrow travels to more than 1250 units, the enemy hit will take additional 12/14/16/18/20 + (1% of AP) % of missing health as magic damage.


Ultimate Skill : Thousand Arrows Cooldown: 120/105/90 Mana: 100 Number of Arrows: 10/15/20

Venessia shoots bunch of arrows upward that will rain the area of 800 radius below them. Dealing 125/150/175 + (60% of AD) + (40% of AP) physical damage to each enemy in the area. For 8 seconds, Venessia can pick up the arrows on the ground, gaining one stack of stored arrow, and igaining 25% lifesteal and ms for 1.5 seconds


Skill explanation

Archer's Will : I want to make Venessia as a prediction master of league. So I make her basic attack different. Her special attack is a skillshot, means that players have to use more prediction instead of just right clicking. She has 600 range to compensate her strange attack behaviour. And if the arrow travels more than 800 range, it will deal bonus damage. But wait, how? Well I bet you have known it, yes it's her Q

Mirror Make : This kind of skill is the one that I wanted to make for long time. A skill that control the direction and speed of projectile. Kind of yasuo and braum's walls but different. The magic mirror can reflect any projectile except enemy's basic attack, and giving it more range and speed. And yes, it can reflect Venessia's basic attack,, players can use this to gain the bonus damage. This is also what I call "master of calculation" you have to calculate the reflected speed and direction to gain the maximum advantage. But be aware, a smart enemy nidalee can use your mirror to make her deadly spear reach you. This mirror can be advantage or disadvantage, it's up to the players will and skill

Fourth Dimension : A hide and seek play. Actually I am afraid that I gave Venessia's too much mobility. but I can't help but think of the day when an enemy champion come to an area full of mirror to chase Venessia, and then she hides in one of the mirror then teleport, then come outside and attack the enemy, and in again, and teleport again. The enemy will try hard to predict which mirror contains Venessia, trying to avoid all of her surprise attack. It will be such wonderful scene !!

Pain Reminder : I designed this skill as a long CD execution skill. It's just another long range poke if the players don't reflect it. The damage itself is not massive. But if you can reflect it, it will be a great execution tool. To get this, you have to snipe, predict, and calculate. But it all pays off, if you can manage that 1250 range. Pretty hard right? but it will be rewarding.

Thousand Arrows : Actually I was out of idea of what to make her ultimate. But then I remember a battle with thousand of weapons around the battler, so they can pick whatever weapon to throw and slice the enemy. And I was like "yeah, what if Venessia can pick up an arrow to refresh her 'basic attack' ??". Well, I kinda hate the part that this skill is similar with quinn's ultimate. Here, I am still thinking to make this unique.

In Depth

Why all her cooldowns are long? Because there's almost no reason to level them up. Also, I want her to scale well in late game, that means I have to weaken her early game a bit right?

Her special basic attack will mess her early game too much yes I am concerned about that. If I find some proves that state her early is too weak, then I'll increase her AD ratio in her passive. Oh yeah, she has great base AD, so I think it's unlikely

Does the mirror reflect enemy's projectile? yes, it affect any projectile except enemy's basic attack. That's mean more counterplay for Venessia. Enemy can exploit this, if her enemy is smarter in calculating and predicting than her, it's a checkmate.

Wait so ally basic attack reflected too? How that works? it works like any projectile. Reflected as in plane mirror reflection. The reflected projectile act as skillshot

What about vlad's Q? it bypasses the mirror

What about talon's ult?? it will get reflected, and loses its ability to follow talon.

How much is talon's ult bonus range if it gets reflected? Talon's ult has 500 base range, so 0.5 * 500 = 250. With this and above question answered I am sure you know how the mirror interacts with cait's ult and other skill

Does her 25% damage amplify works with lich bane? yes, it does

Her W reduced by 5 seconds if successfully hit champion? Isn't that too much? imo no. I would like to see the "mini-game" created by her W. Just like what I explain in her skill's explanation. And by making its cd reduction high, I can keep her base cd long so it will punish Venessia if she can't hit an enemy champion. And she has 150 mana cost on that skill, hopefully it's enough to make it less abuseable

Why her basic attack and ult is physical damage? To make mortal reminder and lord dominik viable in her build, and make void staff out of her. Why? Because I want her to be balance at killing squishy and tanks. Void ignores magic resist, LW ignores bonus armor, if void is viable in her build, and combined with lich bane, it will become too much burst that makes squishy explode.

How fast is her basic attack's missile speed? fast enough that ensure you not to miss 90% of the time

Why there's 1.5 sec cooldown on her Q? so it won't abused as more annoying version of windwall

What is the meaning of her alias? Take a guess!! ^^


Power Curve

Early Game

Early game is the worst phase for Venessia. Her AA is based on AP, and she doesn't have much AP early game. All of her skills are high cooldown early on. Her only mobility (W) will suck 150 of her mana pool. She doesn't have any other mobility beside it, and it's useless if you doesn't have any mirror on the field. Play safe is the only thing Venessia can do

Mid Game

Her damage is greatly increased after lich bane. Mirrors now more tanky. Her mana pool sure is bigger. This is where you start to roam, though she has no mobility so she will slow as hell. But it's compensated with her long range, and you can actually use her ult as free sivir's ult (not recommended though)

Late Game

Where Venessia shines. Her mana pool is good, her mirror is tanky, she has much AP and will deals 80% of it with her basic attack only. And she got a nice sustain on her ult. You can spam her teleport now since she won't go OOM too fast. And since mortal/lord dominik are viable on her, she's capable on killing tank as fast as ADC. Her long range will very helpful in teamfight. Actually she has anything to survive teamfight, long range, invulnerability, mobility, lifesteal, AoE damage, and mana sustain.


Possible Lane

Top Lane I am sure many of you think that the best lane for Venessia is mid lane. But don't forget that Venessia's early game is crap. She will be out-traded by almost everyone. And many assassins and high mobility champions dwell in the mid lane. Venessia has no CC to counter it, and worse, almost all of her damage source is skillshot. It's nearly impossible to hit a leblanc, or yasuo that dash 24/7

The best lane for Venessia is a lance that gentle for ranged champion. Giving enough window to farm, and not too brutal for non-mobility champion. Yup it's top lane! With Vennesia's range she can farm safely, she's also able to kite since almost no juggernauts have mobility. This way, Venessia can reach her late game curve as fast as she can.

Bot Lane Carry Another option is bot lane. with the help of support Venessia can survive any trade. Especially with janna or soraka. And ADCs that has 600 range (without additional skill) are ashe, and cait. There are many ADC with shorter range. With this condiiton, she can uses this to farm and harass safely


Tips and Tricks

The Nasty Trap

First cast a mirror. Then cast another mirror, make it so they face each other. Place Venessia between the mirror, shoot your AA/E towards the mirror. The projectile will keep bouncing forever. This is very good for trap/zoning. Remember though, if you miss at least 1 degree, then the loop will break after some bounces. Enemy can also destroy the mirror to break this infinite loop

Easy 800/1250 bonus

When an enemy is chasing you, run towards a mirror, then shoot at the mirror. The mirror will reflect your projectile back and it will hit the enemy behind you. Granting you an easy 800 / 1250 bonus. Be aware though, it's easily foreseen and avoided, and it will miss if the mirror, you, and enemy are not on the same line.

Decided to just browse the boards for a bit and stumbled across this little number. Seeing that it didn't have any feed back I wanted to well read it over. You got some interesting ideas here I will admit. Though let me go over it a bit more.

So for the passive we are taking away her basic attacks in place of an active spell. A unique trait I must admit and I give props where they are do, however this also presents problems as well. What you are doing with this is taking away something that is a fundamental component for a champion. A champion should be able to move normally, be able to basic attack normally, and be able to cast abilities. Taking away one of these things limits a champion in my eyes rather then helps them. When it comes to the current mastery system in place here she wouldn't be able to down right use some of them as they require the use of a basic attack. Not only this she loses her ability to damage structures like towers, inhibitors, and the nexus. Certain items and some stats become useless on her as well such as attack speed, critical chance, life steal. Now I get that you want this girl to be a spell caster so I get why you shouldn't build these stats. Still you need to tweak some things with this passive. Instead make this count as both a spell and a basic attack, as well have it be able to hit structures. This is needed I think as it gives her more options. Next this is your choice, but you can have the cool down for this scale with any bonus attack speed she gains. Once again it opens her build a little more but it isn't required.

For the Q I have a question, it states that any projectile gets reflected. This includes all enemies and allies right? If so I can see some interesting plays as well as trolling happening. I like the fact that you can basically ricochet other abilities with this mirror. Still I think some changes are needed for a bit of clarity. Just say that enemy basic attacks don't get reflected. This simplifies this and allows you to turn the passive you have making it as a basic attack. As well you should do something about how long they last or put a limit to how many mirrors she can have out on the field. You are making barriers that block projectiles which is extremely.

An interesting form of sustain for the W. This does have some added benefits of giving light invulnerability and some mobility. Now you need to keep in mind 2% of her max mana is huge. Now I know this is over the course of 5 seconds. Still though you can make some tweaks here. Might consider changing it to perhaps missing mana or limit how much mana can be recovered while staying in the mirror.

I always love seeing channeling abilities. This one is good as you need the channel for the damage but you need to reflect it off mirrors for the bonus effects. However the one effect In Pain, its kinda broken. We have an effect in the game called Grievous Wounds. This does lower the healing the target receives and but doesn't nullify it completely. Perhaps think about either changing it to Grievous Wound or add something else in its place.

The ult idea is a nice addition to her kit. You should clarify though how many arrows drop that can be picked back up. You can make that scale with the ranks in the ability too.

Like I said you have some interesting ideas here for a champion. Though sometimes taking away mechanics isn't the best idea. Keep this in mind.

Hey! ^_^ here are my thoughts on Venessia - The Image of the Mirror!

Lore: Though it's based around amnesia it's nice it tells me her goals (Sort of......It's highly hypocritical) and does tell me what kind of person she is. It doesn't give me a solid reason or hint why she's so based around mirrors? Than again I can't really talk I sort of did the same thing with my concept.

Passive: My biggest issue with this is that it destroys your ability to farm. Only able to AA every two seconds makes farming rather impracticable. It also hurts her ability to trade, in the mid lanes a big part trading using your AAs they are guaranteed damage, like when your opponent goes to CS throw an AA at him . Without AAs your concept loses this edge.

Q: This creates a ton of very funny situations. For one the cap and the CDR, 25 max and a 8 second cooldown maxed? You could create a wall of these and just make champions like Ziggs cry. Also I personally do think that they do have far too much hp, when I play Ahri I can usually get around 300-400 Ap mid game. On a maxed out Q that's 1700 Hp, on a eight second cooldown(With a morellonomicon) with a cap of 25. I personally think it would be better to find a way to destroy them that's not based around hp. I can't say much on the reflection, I have no idea how strong it can be thought it does create a bunch of really funny interactions.

W: This sounds really frustrating to play against.... For one considering how many mirrors she can spam and how tough they can be to take down if thing go bad she just hides in her mirror and waits for her jungler to come. Imagine playing against her and you bring her to 50 hp then she jumps into a at least 500 hp mirror. This would be devastating for most champions as you can't even use projectile abilities on the mirror. Also I'm not too keen on the fact that she can simply teleport between them. considering how many she can spam.

E: Good ability I guess, has counterplay and rewards the player satisfyingly for hitting it.

R : I don't really think this was the best ability for the slot, for one thing if the arrows land where she aims them it creates an issue as she has to get walk over there to pick up her arrows.
