Malkaren, Master of the Blade Dance

“Ever seen feet so nimble? You should see what my hands can do.”

Health – 585 +94 per level (2277) Health Regen – 7.45 + .60 per level (18.25) Attack Damage – 65 +3.25 per level (123.5) Attack Speed - .685 +2.1% per level (.975) Armor – 30.5 +2.75 per level (80) Magic Resist – 20.25 +1.2 per level (41.85) Movement Speed – 370

A self-proclaimed master of the art he calls “The Blade Dance”, Malkaren is a sword for hire who has never failed to profit from a war he could find a way into. Wielding two lightweight long swords, he is as light of foot as he is nimble with his blades. An expert at finding openings through which to strike, Malkareth rarely misses an opportunity to inflict serious wounds on his foes.

Abilities

Passive – Untouchable: Through his nimble footwork Malkaren begins with a 10% chance to dodge incoming basic attacks. The faster he moves, the harder he gets to hit. For every 5 points of movement speed Malkaren gains above his base, he adds 1% to his chance to dodge.

Q – Weak Links – Passive: Malkaren gains 1/2/3/4/5% 10% Armor Penetration Active: Malkaren rapidly attacks his foe, gaining 10/12/15/17/20% 25% attack speed for 3 2/3/4/5/6 seconds W – Whirling Dervish – Active: Malkaren becomes very difficult to hit or catch as he makes full use of his nimble feet. Gain 25% movement speed and a 15/17/20/22/25% chance to dodge all incoming attacks for the next 4 seconds. E – Cut Em Down – Active: "added: Malkaren dashes forward covering range 300." For the next 5 attacks Malkaren focuses on crippling his opponent. His attacks deal an additional 60 + 25% of bonus attack damage, and slow his opponents by 10/15/20/25/30% for one second two seconds. W – Heart Strikes – Active: Malkaren moves in for the kill, going for maximum damage on his next 3/4/5 attacks. These attacks deal 150/200/300 +75% 200 +60% of total bonus attack damage.

Let me know what you guys think!

Edits: Nerfed Ult as it was too powerful. Changed Q and E to increase early game strength and give a gap closer/escape. Completely changed passive to better line up with vision of what I wanted the champ to do. With item 3009 item 3087 item 3046 item 3078 item 3147 you would get to 516 movement speed, which would give you an additional 29% chance to dodge basic attacks, bringing you to 39%. I want the character to be able to stay in the fight, without building tanky, and I feel this is a unique way to accomplish that. This could be even further increased with movement speed runes. Of course, hit him with a stun, and he isn't dodging anything and gets blown up, but that is just the way things go. Also, the dodge bonus granted by his W would stack with his passive for basic attacks, but also gives him the flat listed bonus chance to dodge damage, but not effects, from abilities as well.

I realized I forgot to include the cool down times for his abilities. Q - 14/13/12/10/8 W - 20/18/16/14/12 E - 10/9/8/7/5 R - 90/80/70

Honestly, it feels pretty low-effort. What exactly is Malkaren's fantasy supposed to be? How is he supposed to work? He has no real abilities: every ability is just a self-buff that either augments his auto-attacks or makes him move faster/get a bullshit RNG dodge mechanic that lacks clarity.

The description says he is nimble and finds opportunities to strike, but gameplay-wise it looks like you're meant to just go full ham and hope for the best by bruteforcing an engagement. He's also incredibly weak; I don't think this champion would stand a chance against a vast majority of the roster, and doesn't provide anything worthwhile to a team in any configuration.

There are numerous design issues.

One: Malkaren is feast-or-famine: he brings nothing to the table except for straight damage, which means he needs to snowball early or fade into irrelevancy. Two: Malkaren doesn't fit into any lane. Not even jungle. He has nothing that lets him gank aside from "walk up to enemy", which is a flawed strategy because any skillshot disable foils the gank. Even if he does reach his enemy, Malkaren has no real way to continuously stick to them (what'll he do to someone with a dash?). Top lane, he has no escapes so if he ever overreaches, he's easily ganked. What's more, he has a terrible laning phase, meaning even Garen can bully him out of lane. He'd be completely hopeless against someone like Lissandra, Gnar, Fiora, probably even Kassadin. Three: No build path clarity. Malkaren is advertised as a blade master, but to succeed he will have to build tank. Especially considering his ult's incredibly high base damage. He has no way to stay alive in a fight AND he has to be in the thick of it. Four: Bullshit ult scaling. You go from 450+225% AD from all three strikes to 1500+375% AD with all five strikes at maxed out level. If you built him full tank, he would still hit like a truck at level 16 (and very little before that).

Basically, you have a champion with an exceedingly weak laning phase, utter lack of teamfighting, terrible splitpush, no dive ability, mediocre sticking power and no clear fantasy.
