Amren, In Honour of the Fallen

Moya

With a couple of tweaks of course. She fits right in after all. Her kit was one of the most unique, and interesting in the entire game, and dare I say Genre.

However she had a LOT of issues with being generally underpowered.

Within the confines of league, she'd probably be fine, and tbh right at home however.

It couldn't be Moya directly obviously, and honestly I'd change how her E functioned completely, as it was only useful for one horrible niche thing (That was early game jungling; which she didn't even need it for that purpose anyway) meaning it was absolutely useless endgame. And further her issue with her energy resource was that it choked wway too easily.

In the confines of league, I propose; perhaps not a champion design, because there are no otters in runeterra lol Maybe a new Ursine or something completely new, preferrably Freiljordian but I digress.

And while there are ENERGY based characters in league I feel she'd be more appropriate as a mana based character. Further some thematic changes and my own personal ideas. I know they already put an homage to waystone in the game, this would be the ultimate thing though. I lit put money into dawngate FOR MOYA ALONE. So. Yeah.

As it sits in my mind right now.

  • If Amren uses Brutal charge before this move enters cooldown this ability is consumed and Brutal Charge is empowered to deal 35/50/65/80/95 (+20% AP) bonus physical damage. Upon collision with an enemy champion this ability will explode, stunning everything within a radius of 100 for 1 second; dealing max damage at impact and diminishing to 40% effectiveness at the outer edge of the blast radius. • Amren Channels for 0.7 seconds then lunges forward (Max distance 600 m; starting at 300 and increasing per level) accelerating to top speed over 0.5 seconds, (Movement speed+120% of current movement speed) and knocks up the first enemy she collides with for 1 second, dealing 100/200/300 (+30% AD) physical damage, causing both herself and the struck champion to become untargetable for this time.
  • While they are suspended, Amren can reactivate the ability to knock the champion away 300 units in the opposite direction her charge initially came from, dealing 50% bonus physical damage.
  • Amren is still effected by any DOT or AoE effects initiated BEFORE the spell is activated, disincluding pools.

  • Mana Cost: 120

Appearance coming soon maybe?

Overview:

Amren is a Melee bruiser who specializes in Initiating teamfights or Ganking, suited best towards Jungle or Top lane play; and while they may have a lot of trouble sustaining in a fight they can definitely do a lot of damage long enough for the team to show up, and turn the tide if it comes down to the nitty gritty. She's a proud warrior from Freljord with an insatiable hunger for vengeance.

Lore:

Among the ursine there was a great unsettling, as the new cheiftain had allied himself suddenly with the brutal Sejuani, those who still believed in a peaceful future for their people were ignored and derided for their supposed weakness.

A spoiled child of the third of the Triumverate leaders of the tribe, Amren found herself unpleased with the sudden change of leadership for her people, finding Volibear to be an illegitemate and unworthy leader. After challenging him to combat and failing miserably, Amren cast herself out to seek her own truth in the cold frozen north of Freljord.

However, as Amren was poor in judgement, and direction; she quickly became lost among the frigid endless white. Blistered by blizzards, and lengthy white out conditions, Amren became lost in the unforgiving Ironspike mountains.

Unable to go home, and unable to go further, seemingly forever lost in the formidable stone and ice Amren felt foolish, tired and with a broken spirit she climbed to find some bastion, some form of protection from the cold; however as her body fatigued, and she grew weaker and weaker, she began to lose her footing.

After falling; her feet slipping out from under her, she slid down the unforgiving mountain, the sharp stone shredding her face, tearing her body. Her blood stained the powder snow redder than it had been in eons. Her heart stopped beating, her body too broken to go on, her spirit by all accounts should have left her but…

Deep within the heart of the mountain however, an ancient power awoke, feeding on the unwilling sacrifice of her blood and flesh, a wellspryng of energy formed around her, feeding her broken body with endless lifeforce and unwavering power bringing her back from the brink of the end.

Amren awoke once more, full of vim and vigor; her sight set first to home... but knowing of his place in the league of legends, and now power to contest their new chieftain. Her heart was full of bloodlust and her mind was on the warpath, she stepped forward and didn’t look back.

TL;DR her face is prolly fucked up and she wants to punch Voli in the beardick.

I honestly wouldn't mind if Riot was able to take some of the more unique Dawngate champions and brought them into the game. Like Basko, I loved Basko.

I REALLY liked Mina's kit (going into enemies to shield/buff them). We could use a support like that in league, especially if he/she got voice lines for jumping into every champion.

Faris' mode switching % damage thing was neat too, though I think Elise fills a similar niche with her Qs.

Was so hyped for Braum's release but Mina came out weeks before. Needless to say I didn't even look at Braum for at least a month after he was released. Between Sakari's lines, Raina's everything, and Mina's whole kit I was in love with Dawngate.

Why not run diminishing returns? Suggestions below:

W: Awakening Will

  • For the next 3 seconds, Amren's basic attacks deal 10/20/30/40/50 (+10% AD) bonus physical damage and reduce the target's Movement Speed by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds.
  • If Amren uses Brutal charge before this move enters cooldown this ability is consumed and Brutal Charge is empowered to deal 35/50/65/80/95 (+20% AP) bonus physical damage and stun each enemy Champion struck for 1 second. The damage and stun are reduced by 20% for every unit she passes through, to a minimum of 40%
  • blah blah

The point of this is to disable people as you move in right? So make it less oppressive by making sure Amren has to position correctly to get least diminishing returns. This adds a point of skill to the kit, and removes the potential 5-man 1 second stun potential.

E: Unwavering Will

  • Amren gains 18% / 22% / 27% / 31% / 35% increased Movement Speed for 3 seconds. If she is disabled in this time, it's duration is reduced by 30%, and she receives 15% CC reduction for the remaining duration.
  • If Amren uses Brutal charge before this move enters cooldown this ability is consumed and Brutal Charge is empowered to deal 15/20/25/30/35 (+20% Bonus HP) bonus physical damage and heal her for 5/10/15/20/25 (+2/4/6/8/10% of her missing health) for each enemy struck. The damage and heal is reduced by 20% for every unit she passes through, to a minimum of 40%

More sticking power. A free QSS is not fun, especially when it's on a low cooldown basic ability. She should also not heal based on damage, as we see that everyone is complaining about her damage. Instead make it so that a non-glass cannon Amren is also optimal, by increasing her bruiser potential.

R: Perpetual Motion

  • Amren lunges forward (Max distance 600 m; starting at 300 and increasing per level) accelerating to top speed over 0.5 seconds, (Movement speed+120% of current movement speed) and knocks up the first enemy she collides with for 1 second, dealing 100/200/300 (+30% AD) physical damage.
  • While they are suspended, Amren can reactivate the ability to knock the champion away 300 units, dealing 50% bonus physical damage.

Total disable time is decreased, no invulnerability, more counterplay, increased base damage (if reactivated) and decreased scaling due to utility.

Hi Snow Taradien, Amren looks really cool. i love charge into the enemy champions and I would pay top IP to use your ultimate in game.

I think your presentation would look better with some concept art and lore at the top though.

Anyway, it's a cool champion concept.

I want Riot to make someond like the Sloth character they showcases in their final stream. He didnt have slows, instead he reduced the target's movement speed to become equal to Sloth and Sloth was innately slower than everyone else and couldnt gain any bonus movement speed, converting it into Power (AD or AP here).

lso I liked the idea that he would just be muching on leaves all the time.

I think this kit is really cool and has potential. I dont see much wrong with it now, but Ill speak up if I do.

Alright, I'm not going to sugar coat this, what I'm about to do is pick apart this kit from a balance perspective. I'm going to be brutally honest, and if you don't want to see that, don't read this.

Passive - The mana regen is interesting, I suppose. Very similar to Xerath's. That attack speed is entirely unfair though. Maybe if you got 0.05% for every 100 mana missing, but it would have to be set numbers, not percentages, or else they could just build nothing but mana and AD, cast all their spells, get a stupid amount of attack speed, and GG the enemy Nexus without even trying.

Q - If you kept it 200m range, I suppose it would be balanced, I GUESS. Most champs that have damage dealing dashes have the damage scale with the type of damage they don't usually specialize in - for isntance, Ezreal's W does damage and scales with AP, and Ezreal normally builds AD. Plus, the default damage is broken, and the AD scaling ratio needs to be knocked down to 25% at the highest.

W - Hold on, hold on. You're giving this champion an ability that gives them increased attack damage and the ability to slow enemies by a considerable amount at ability level 5, and has the potential to stun an entire team, dealing a fair amount of damage and it's not even an ultimate. Leona's Solar Flare can potentially stun an entire team, but it's her ult and it's really difficult to stun them all instead of slowing them

E - This is basically a Quicksilver Sash/Mikael's Crucible in your back pocket, along with a decent movespeed boost. That's one of the most unbalanced things I've ever heard of, right up there with a passive that doubles your crit chance. * cough, Yasuo, cough *

R - Basically a combination of Zhonya's Hourglass, Vi's ult, and Warwick's ult. I could see this working if you knocked the damage down significantly and removed the ability to change the landing spot, because then you can just make them land in your fountain, if they're trying to take Nexus, getting them killed instantly.

Verdict - Fundamentally broken. Entire kit needs to be redone if it has any hopes of being fair.

Additional comments - Riot hardly ever uses fan champion/skin concepts, and I highly doubt they would try to pull something of this scale, which is basically stealing from another game in their genre - discontinued or not.

Only suggestion I have to balance this mess is take what you have now, throw it away, and start fresh. When I say fundamentally broken, I mean that the abilities themselves are broken, in what they do. Not just the damage ratios or the cooldowns, but it's what they do is what's op. Honestly, the only way I see this kit becoming fair is scraping this one and trying again. I know you're trying to make a memory of a character from another game that got shutdown, but this kit is just broken, it's literally flawless. Being solely melee instead of ranged doesn't mean anything. Just look at Udyr - he's completely melee, but in the right hands, he becomes an unstoppable monster. Vi's entirely melee, since her Q is a dash, not a projectile, and she's one of the best junglers, and is really difficult to 1v1 late game because of her tanky DPS. Skill is one thing, yes, but it's because of the underyling flaws in those kits that enough skill makes them unstoppable.
