@Riot would you please allow players change their in-game settings out of game.

not true. i can manually edit the config file with notepad just fine.

You can edit the file manually as it impacts the game, not the pre game client, but riot can't put it in the pregame client atm...they will once they update the engine...

I'm confused; why would the client not be able to change another file on the computer then? It knows the location of the file, and as long as it had default write permissions, would it not be able to edit the settings file (an ini file I'm assuming)?

It should be but not on their current engine. That's one of the reasons for the upgrade.

Adobe AIR can both read and write files....? Just because the client does not currently support it doesn't mean that it isn't technologically possible.

Never said it isn't technically possible. They can't implement it in the current state, they didn't say exactly why. Maybe it creates some issues with the client or something. They wanna implement it and ship it with the update the last i heard.

Yes. The only reason to wait for an engine update is if Riot plans to allow you to store settings server-side so things like language filter and key-bindings follow your account, or possibly if they want to add a reolution test to the game engine so you can "Test" your settings out of game as well.

But as of right now: I could write a GUI in PowerShell to tweak the settings. It wouldn't take that long.

You can change it out of game. By editing config file.

Alright, however they should make a user friendly version, because most new players or even veterans will not think of doing this.

Agreed. They should also put explanations to some of the settings in the config file.

You shouldn't have to enter a game to change your settings... It's not user friendly.

It's also not that big of a deal. Going into a custom game by yourself takes all of 30 seconds. They could implement the ability to change settings out of game, but why bother? It's fixing a problem that really doesn't exist.

my laptop for example has insane overheating issues but sets the default settings do medium high due to my gpu. Now when playing on lowest possible settings i have 35fps while idle and now imagine me going into a game even if its just custom with medium high settings. the last time i had to change my settings back to lowest the game freezed for quite some time and it was extremly hard to do.
