Passive - Way of the Wanderer: Yasuo generates Flow as he travels by any means, up to 600 Flow.

  • Intent: With at least 100 Flow, Yasuo can target enemies outside of his melee range with his basic attacks. Yasuo will consume 100 Flow and begin to channel for 2 - 0.5 seconds, after he will perform a ranged critical attack, with reduced critical damage, to his target.

  • Resolve: With at least 100 Flow and upon taking champion or monster damage, Yasuo consumes 100 Flow to shield himself for for up to 1 second, placing this passive on cooldown for 30 - 15 seconds

Seems overcomplicated to manage to be honest.

Seems overcomplicated to manage to be honest.

Really? Giving him the option for a ranged attack instead of a shield is too complicated?

Is the change into ranged attack passive and not "toggable" so that I am forced not to attack at all if I want to preserve a shield? In which conditions the channel starts? Does the channel means I also need to stop moving for the crit-attack? Is it only the channeled attack that consumes flow?

I mean to manage his resources with a change like this.

Is the change into ranged attack passive and not "toggable" so that I am forced not to attack at all if I want to preserve a shield?

If you target an enemy who is outside of your melee range, it will be a ranged attack. Also, he will have 600 flow, all he needs is 100 for the shield. With 200 flow, he could make a ranged attack and use his shield, but it will take more walking around to do both.

In which conditions the channel starts?

Press A and left click or right click an enemy who is outside of melee range.

Does the channel means I also need to stop moving for the crit-attack?

Yes, he will have to stop and charge up his ranged attack, but once he starts channeling, he will attack them, even if they teleport across the map. Like when Gangplank stops for half a second to shoot his gun, but just a little longer.

Is it only the channeled attack that consumes flow?

And the shield. No flow, no range.

Ok, thank you for taking time to explain everything better to me, I have one question left:

From what you wrote, there is a ranged attack and a channeled attack, how do I decide which one to perform?

...no the... the ranged attack is the channeled attack. That... I thought I made that part obvious.

Think Poppy's shield throw, but instead of time, you just have to walk around to charge it back up, but it takes a little longer to attack and you can attack a couple of times, but if you take damage, you lose a shot. Unless you're in their face, then it's just Yasuo.

Ok, it wasn't really clear for me.

Welp, now you know.

So... You want more downtime on the shield (making him easier to poke down in lane), but to compensate, give him a long-range poke tool?

It's interesting, but I don't see the point. All it would do is encourage Yasuo to be more passive in lane.

I think it would be simpler to allow any damage to lower his Flow meter at any point, but give him a bigger shield for filling it up. You could simply auto-attack Yasuo while he's doing his think to keep him from getting a shield, but if he plays smart and keeps out of range, he gets a bigger reward.

Well, it doesn't take away his ability to be aggressive, it just also gives more passive players, who aren't confident with Yasuo, a chance to play him. Because Yasuo is a pretty complicated champion, and I don't see a simple ranged basic attack being abusable by pro players.

Yasuo's win rate at low ranks is a bit crap, and this is mostly for new players, and to replace his currently useless redundant double crit passive with something interesting.

You lost me.

....That is literally Poppy's passive, but instead of a simple cooldown, it's tied to his flow... like his shield.

I personally kind of really like the augment Skillful as an idea for a Yasuo passive rework. Guaranteed crit if you hit with the tip of the blade but can't crit otherwise. It'd get him out of building crit, and maybe make him a little more interesting.

I was thinking more, "cowboy with a sword," with this. Like, his sword is a 6 shooter with max flow, and to attack he has to do the classic cowboy stare down.

The problem with this passive idea is it doesn't synergize with the rest of his kit at all. He can't afford to sit still in the middle of a fight, and his entire MO is to be in the middle of a fight.

Well yeah, I know that. This is more of a poking and farming tool. If you look at Yasuo's stats he isn't great in the hands of new and low ranked players, since they aren't confident enough with him to just get in the middle of a fight. This is for them, and a simple ranged basic attack isn't the kinda thing that skilled players will make much out of. Like Poppy's passive.

Besides, it is an optional thing, you have to deliberately target enemies, so it's not like the channel is going to just go off in the middle of a fight. So his high skilled play will be about the same.
