Wait a minute... is Pyke Nautilus?

Nautilus was betrayed and thrown overboard by his shipmates when their ship was attacked by "the deep." He goes on and on about vengeance. He died by drowning in "the deep."

...Okay, now here me out. What if Nautilus is Pyke's body, and Pyke is Nautilus's soul. Is... is that something that can happen?

Yeah... I was already not loving the thematic overlap between the two. If they aren't somehow connected in the lore, I'll be a bit disappointed. For that much overlap, there really ought to be something there.

I just posted asking what direction they're working on Pyke and Naut.

You...that theory is beautiful.

Pyke's soul got ripped out of his body. Driven mad with rage and anger, he became the ripper. His body somehow became corrupted or possessed of life in someway and started wandering aimlessly. It's a body without a soul, without it's mind and ego. He is wandering the depths to figure out what he is. WHO he is, and why does he feel so...empty.

Okay, now THAT is an interesting theory....Nautilus being the undead body, and Pyke being the undead soul of the same person....Wow, makes you wonder who that guy was in life that he ended up spawning two powerful undead beings like that. And some things do support it, too, like how Nautilus doesn't really remember much of anything from his time alive. Damn. If this turns out to be real, I'd actually be pretty hyped.

I would swap it. Pyke being the body and Nautilus being the soul just because of how they look. Pyke is definitely fleshy and probably got his body corrupted by enter magic source here. meanwhile for Nautilus a giant walking armor suit can't exactly be the body. He moreso encompasses the soul part.

That would actually be amazing, and be a wonderful dynamic between the two champions.

Pyke was the person inside the scuba suit. Nautilus was the suit itself.

yolo

yeah, if they take away naut's lore and push their dumbass "spooky legend" thing further i'm gonna be real dissapointed by how much riot let my man naut down.

thats Nautilus old lore, this is the new one:

All know the tales; all pay the Bilgewater tithe. Since time immemorial, Nautilus has roamed the dark waters off the coast of the Blue Flame Isles, dragging impious sailors to their doom. The armored goliath strikes without warning, his inexorable footfalls churning the waters, before swinging his enormous anchor upward to shatter mast and keel alike. He then pulls the flotsam beneath the waves to appease the wrath of the Bearded Lady.

Lore-wise , i fail to see the difference between old Nautilus and Pyke

Only difference i see is "Black ooze" vs "Abyssal monster".

But i feel like Pyke was sacrificed , almost like for an eldritch ritual

OR.

What if Pyke is Pyke's body and Nautilus is Pyke's suit which gained consciousness and thinks it's the real Pyke?

TurtleBrianSwag5/11/2018, 2:42:17 AM2 votes

Nice theory, but I doubt league would have two champions originate from the same person.

Child of the Pit5/10/2018, 7:04:07 PM1 votes

Well the lore team was talking about champions being in different timelines and some being present while others are already gone along time.

They haven't mentioned different universes tho, but this may be what Nautilus would have become under different circumstances?
