Not sure where to talk about this so im gonna put it here.

Obviously the person who drew it is a better artist than I will ever be so im not saying their work is bad, I just dont think the face fits her. Because im not a fan of the face i cant stand the minimap icon either. The overall idea of the image is cool with the dragon wings placed behind her to symbolize her change.

What do you guys think? I know a lot of people wernt happy with the proposed ez and j4 splash changes and those ended up not going through.

On a side note I feel like all I do on these forums is complain about things related to shyvana lately lol

To quote myself:

There are things to like about it, but I hate it. It looks... off. It's like it doesn't know whether it wants to be sexy or menacing -it doesn't pull off both.

You want sexy? http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/153/9/7/ice_drake_shyvana_portrait_riotzeronis_by_zeronis-d67lbpp.jpg

You want menacing? http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j2cLf9tTdi0/T7IIZZiXA6I/AAAAAAAAClU/1-jcTXNaueE/s1600/darkflame_shyvana2.jpg

You want both? http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/197/7/c/7c0b8c5240f298160067a2a82818c5cd-d57e46f.jpg

Shyvana is an extreme character. Her splashes should always capture something. The old splash captured power. Ironscale captures heart. Boneclaw captures predatory nature. Darkflame captures fury. Ice Drake captures remorselessness. This new skin doesn't say anything other than "Hey, I'm a skin in pretty new lines and colors!" This is why I hate most of the Chinese artworks (I do like some though.) The art is all skill and technique with no heart nor care. :(

She has pupils! Awesome! But seriously I think this splash is too good 'cause now the actual model now suffers from not portraying such a kick ass Shyvana. :(

EDIT: Also, maybe it's just me, but am I the only one seeing kind of a duck face going on with splash. Other than that it's still awesome.

I personally love the new Shyvana artwork ''Mains her'' now i do see how you have a pet peeve about the face but despite that. Compare that to the old one and then reevaluate your choice. {{summoner:10}}

I don't like the new weird indentations on her skin, and her face is trying way too hard to be menacing- it just makes her look like a man.

Personally I love it. Old Shyvana splash was fine, but she wasnt that different from other females. I mean, Zyra is a plant babe, Elise is a spider babe and Shyvana was a dragon babe.

New Shyvana visualizes a badass dragonborn. She did lose some femine aspects, but shes not supposed to look like a pretty girl wearing armor

I'm assuming this artist did Shyvana and Vayne, and I despise both. Not saying she has to look pretty pretty, but as an example, Ice Drake's splash art makes it so she looks powerful and elegant, yet it maintains a degree of beauty.

New Vayne looks like a cross dressing Keanu Reeves. They need to put that artist to work on Jarvan IV's splash art or something. Obviously he can draw manly characters very well.

I have many problems with the splash.

  1. WTF is that walk? Why is she on a catwalk?
  2. Why's she just walking? The splash is less engaging than her old one, IMO. She's just walking towards the viewer in a generic manner with a ridiculous expression. At least her old splash was a little less common in pose...
  3. That thigh gap. Not gonna exist on anyone with a muscle, especially not in that pose.
  4. Why are her arms so skinny? :'( She's a scary dragon, she should look more physically threatening and powerful.
  5. That face.

So much missed opportunity. I think they could've made a much, much better one, with a more dynamic pose. (Think: Crimson Akali, Arclight Varus. You can see that they're doing something.) Or even a pose with more power implied. (Think: Imperial Lux.)
