[Champion Concept] Masquerade, the Phantom Face

Hey guys, guess who's back! Finally! I haven't had ideas sticking to me lately, but I've been throwing down lots of practice kits because why not? This's one of those kits, based off a basic premise which is quite flawed, but I tried to see what I could do anyways. Just a little disclaimer that this isn't a serious kit, unlike what I normally upload-- hence why there's no lore. The kit draws inspiration from the Spy in TF2, and is based on the concept of disguising yourself as other Champions.

Goals:

  • Create an assassin that utilizes disguises and isn't IMMEDIATELY destroyed by the existence of coordination.
  • Create an assassin that causes chaos to ensue in team fights.
  • Create an assassin that adds a layer of tactical depth, in that you're required to get into position appropriately.

Niche: An assassin that relies on mind-games to screw with the enemy team and get into position, rather than jump in and instantly do damage.

Masquerade The Phantom Face Assassin

[P] Your Eternal Reward: Passively, upon killing or assisting in the death of an enemy Champion, Masquerade immediately gains the effects of Copycat, becoming Disguised and appearing as the slain enemy Champion. Any additional takedowns made while Disguised or invisible do not trigger this effect. While Disguised, Masquerade appears as the target. Dealing damage or casting an ability while disguised breaks the Disguise. Their first attack against an enemy Champion while Disguised, or for 2.5 seconds upon exiting their Disguise, deals 50 - 150(+60% bonus AD) bonus true damage. Kills and assists that cause Masquerade to Disguise do not make a death sound, causes the corpse to become invisible to the enemy team for 10 seconds, and does not make the kill announcement occur for 10 seconds. Corpse invisibility and the delay in kill announcement end early upon leaving combat.

[Q] Sneak Attack: Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds After a brief delay, Masquerade stabs in a short line, dealing 40/60/80/100/120(+40% AD) physical damage.

  • If this strikes the enemy from behind, this deals 60/70/80/90/100% bonus damage.
  • If Masquerade was Disguised within the last 1.5 seconds, this damage is increased by 50%, and the cooldown is reduced by 50%.

[W] Precision Strike: Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds Masquerade throws a knife in the target direction, dealing 60/85/110/135/160(+70% AD) physical damage to enemy units struck and stunning monsters for 0.8 seconds. Upon colliding with an enemy Champion, it stops, dealing the same damage and stunning them for 0.8/0.9/1.0/1.1/1.2 seconds.

[E] Copycat: Cooldown: 80/70/60/50/40 seconds Masquerade selects the target Champion or Champion corpse, channeling for 1 second. At the end of this time, Masquerade becomes invisible for 0.6 seconds, gaining 150% increased movement speed for the duration, and afterwards becoming Disguised for 8/10/12/14/16 seconds.

  • While invisible, this can be reactivated to enter their Disguise early and exit stealth immediately.
  • While disguised, this can be reactivated early to exit their Disguise.
  • This can be reactivated during the channel to stop channeling, refunding the cooldown of this ability.

[R] Deadringer: Cooldown: 2 seconds (toggle) Upon becoming active, Masquerade channels for 0.7 seconds before activating this effect. This channel is cancelled upon being crowd controlled, placing this ability on a 2 second cooldown and causing it to become inactive. While active, Masquerade cannot attack enemy Champions or cast Sneak Attack or Precision Strike, and takes 40/65/90% reduced damage from the next ability to strike them. Upon consuming this effect, this ability is deactivated and placed on a 150/120/90 second cooldown (reduced by cooldown reduction), leaving behind a fake corpse for 5 seconds and becoming invisible for the duration, removing their current Disguise. Their first attack upon exiting stealth deals 50/100/150(+65% bonus AD) bonus true damage.

To be honest, I do not think that the idea of turning into an enemy champion would work very well. Any enemy keeping track of their allies and having decent Map Awareness will be aware of Masquerade's disguise. Plus, the existence of Team Chat, death timers, target pings, the Mini Map, and shared LoS heavily nerf this ability significantly. Also, players could probably hover their cursor over Masquerade's Disguise to check if it turns into an Attack symbol to determine which is the real one.

The only problem with the masquerade idea is that jhin has a "phantom of the opera" design already.Jhin

Nice design, but there are a few problems:

Passive and Ultimate are (almost) entirely copypaster from TF2, including the names...

Passive:I don't like this concept, because it creates a dilemma where a champion can't be balanced because he's OP in casual play, but trash in LCS

Q:A worse version of Shaco passive

W:Balanced IMO

E:The comminity largely finds invisibility a toxic design and prefers camouflage

R:I suppose that Masquerade is not slowed or rooted while channeling, that seems OK, but really you havent told us whether the "death" is in the kill feed and are there any "signs" to distinguish a dead ringer from a legit death?
