[CCC] October Champion Concept Contest!

It's that time again, and man do we have some things going on this month. There are A LOT of things changing with this latest contest as well as into the future. I'll be brief.

#Winds of Change.....more like hurricane

First off, if you haven't seen already the inevitable shut down of vBulletin for the switch to the Boards is happening very soon. This means a lot more traffic on the Boards! All sorts of people, even those with their own Concept Contest!

With this upcoming displacement, the vBulletin Concepting community will be coming here and with them will come the MCCC (Monthly Champion Concept Contest, I swear I did not intend to 3/4 copy that abbreviation). These guys have been doing this a lot longer than I have, so we'll be working together next month onwards to bring out the best we can for you all. This month we'll both be running our separate contests (because of the unfortunate timing of the switch), but you know what that means? You can enter TWO concept contests this month. I highly recommenced you to head down to their vBulletin post to look up the details and enter! (Hosted by Moby the White, assisted by ElementLlama)

Secondly, if you didn't see the earlier post, there are prizes again! Winners of this contest will receive a specially made Gold-medal animation 'engraved' with their name and concept. It makes for a great tag-on to a winning concept and an even better thumbnail! Keep in mind this is also on top of an entry into the eventual Hall of Fame. (This has been delayed with the transition issues popping up)

Thirdly (last one I promise), with the transition happening the CCC and MCCC will be a serious state of flux. This is the perfect time to give feedback via e-mail. Not just for the CCC as it has been but in general, what would you like to see in a champion concept contest? E-mail me at '[email protected]' with your ideas, thoughts and critiques. Please do not reply to this post with feedback this is ideally reserved for entries only.

#Entry Requirements

  • One Concept per Summoner
  • Limit of 60 entries per month. No more.
  • Concept must be NEW. Any entry posted before Oct 1st will not be taken.
  • Concept must be YOURS. If your IGN and the author's IGN do not match the entry will not be taken.
  • Concept must adhere to the Universal Rules. Porn does NOT count as a valid reference image.
  • Entrants can (and will) be disqualified for rude behavior to judges, other entrants and anyone giving feedback to their concept.
    • If you see extreme harassment by or towards an entrant, please e-mail me at '[email protected]' with a link to the comment.

#Scoring

This is our way to know who you champion is. We're looking primarily at writing quality, characterization and creativity. Please note somewhere if English is not your native language, if you feel that may affect the overall quality.

|25 | Kit |

This is includes resource(s), abilities, stats (if provided), balance, ingenuity, and 'wow' factor. If you make random players want to play your champion, you will do well here.

|20 | Originality |

Simply put, if you copy a live champion you will not score well here. Make sure your champion is unique to him/her/itself.

|20 | Effort |

Even if the idea isn't the best, or you're not confident in your abilities, it's much easier than you think to tell who put more effort into their concept. This is not specifically length, but extras like recommended items, playstyle explanation, skin ideas and others are a great start.

|10 | Bonus |

This category changes monthly and is detailed in the next section.

Writing challenge!

Your champion knocks on another champion's door. Who answers? Why is your champion there? What happens?

######Note: Trick or Treat is a perfectly valid scenario! But not required.

Similar to lore, we'll be looking primarily at overall writing chops, effort, creativity and consistency with your character (i.e. if a nice, well-mannered monk starts butchering people without a good reason, points will be taken off). Also like Lore, please note somewhere if English is not your native language, if you feel that may affect the overall quality.

Step 1) Post your concept normally within Skin & Champion Concepts Step 2) Reply to this post with a link to Step 1 Step 3) Wait for me to reply with 'Entry Confirmed', if I do not it's possible I missed you, don't hesitate to remind me. Step 4) Wait for the results, OR BETTER YET, visit other entrants and give feedback! Step 5) Profit

#Judges

Judges will remain anonymous until the end of the contest. This allows them to give feedback with an equal weight as anyone else. Their names will be released when the results are announced.

If you are interested in being a Judge I am taking volunteers until the 8th, e-mail me at '[email protected]'. I will provide additional information in a reply.

Quick Judge requirements:

  • Cannot be entered into a contest you're judging (duh)
  • Cannot reveal you are a judge until the results are announced. No exceptions.
  • Must score all concepts within the two week judging period. (Max 60 entries)

Failure to meet these requirements will result in your scores being dropped. No drama or fuss, just dropped. If something comes up and you can't get to them all, it's perfectly fine I understand. But I cannot use scores for only half of the entries.

I believe I've met all the requirements, but if not I would still appreciate any feedback on what I could do better, since this is my first champion concept and all... :P Thanks! I guess hello there, Sir Arma. I'm Still Eternity, of the MCCC, I suppose.

I'm not going to lie; I'm not quite pleased that Riot is shutting down the board I've known and worked on for so long so we could use something THEY want and not what WE want.

But people have tried, and seemingly failed, to change Riot's mind. So we're stuck together. In this case, I suppose I have no choice but to accept this change, and welcome it.

So, I welcome you, fellow Champion Crafter and Contest runner. I suppose we'd toast to good health and future at this point, if that were possible through an electronic format.

So are there no restrictions thematic or mechanical for entries? Are we given pretty much free reign? If so I have a virus-themed concept I've been considering trying to write up.
