Lore: They say that wishing upon a star may be the key to one's wildest dreams. One certain star swept across Runeterra. The star was illuminated, gorgeous, and...it had a conscience. An almost heartbeat to it. The bright, luminescent star was darkened by corruption. Wishes for infinite money, undeserved power, and exploitable fame. The star had long since diminished from its former sheen, a mere shadow of what it once was. Another voice called the star. However, the wish was not for self-benefit nor greed, but for peace. For healing. It was a wish of protection and not harm. It was Soraka, calling upon the stars to heal an ally. Light began to seep into the dark core of the star, restoring the splendor that once was present. The star began shining brighter and brighter. Hope filled the star, and though the corrupt wishes kept coming, the one wish from Soraka kept the light glowing. Little by little, more positive wishes were heard by the star, including one that inspired the star almost as much as Soraka's. A wish to see more stars, just as bright as that one. Indeed, Lux's wish for more luminosity augmented the brightness. The star, acting on its own with the strength of its conscience, fell to the surface of Runeterra, hoping to find those who brightened it. Landing in the Shurima Desert, it superheated the sand with its impact, turning some of the terrain into glass. It sat for weeks before being fashioned into a glass lamp by a merchant. When cleaning it, the spirit of the star was released. Being bound to the material, the spirit took the form of a genie in order to continue serving and fulfilling wishes as it had for millenia. The lamp found its way across all of Runeterra and in the hands of a Summoner, who requested his aid in battle. The star, dubbed Esper by his first Summoner, joins the ranks of the League of Legends when requested by his current master. He waits, eager to please, to meet those who made him who he is, and to grant wishes. Although, every wish has the chance of a catch... "Everyone wants something: Power, riches, fame...they all come at a price. Hope? Hope is free." -Esper
