It's been years and I still don't know why Zephyr was removed.
Like, was it too good? Too bad? It was one of the most fun items in the game to use. Also, to a lesser extent, Sword of the Occult.

You forgot Sword Of The Divine.
still has it.

zephyr was mostly replaced due to it overshadowing boots on adcs and sword of the occult was removed due to it snowballing quite a bit of champs out of control or something like that
Hardly anyone bought it when it was around, especially since botrk was busted around that time. Even I only bought it on occasion, but I still liked having the option to get it. The game needs more non-expensive AS items that aren't tied to crit chance, as it would help out melee auto-attackers a lot.
Their explanation at the time was that it wasn't an item with clear uses; the cases where it was being built were often trap cases, I imagine, so it became very difficult to justify keeping the item in the game at all.
There are definitely some regular Zephyr users like Udyr and Kayle, but I think tuning them for a world without Zephyr was probably better for the game overall. Maybe we'll get another non-crit attack speed item like it in the future, but honestly, I kinda doubt it.
If Zephyr came back but with a cheaper cost (2800g for its stats was pretty inefficient if you ask me), then I would buy it on my Yasuo.
Easy. The stats and the passive are all awful.
The cost was SUPER awful too.
If it was... 2200 (instead of 2850) MAYBE it would be worth it.
Because our ADCs overlords said it wasn't a good item on them, and riot didn't listen to the community when they asked them to keep the item in for the bruisers.
They could have made Zephyr a bruiser item, could have taken the AS part of it, buffed AD and MS, and slap a melee only on it.
