That's why they play like real people. Not advanced technology. They are real people.

It Hertz When IP12 votesPlayed an entire game thinking it was bots, our team was even chatting to each other about the "improvements" the bots were showing. Then the game ended (with enemy surrender). We get to the post game lobby, and immediately the enemy team starts raging. Queue confusion; our mid was literally like "wait, they programmed them to flame, too?", I thought for a second that maybe Riot took two teams of players and had them face off against AI clones of the other team in like a simultaneous double match.... then I realized what the date was.
You know what was really interesting? We all thought it was advanced bots, so every time someone screwed up, or died, or whatever, everyone just shrugged it off. "Bots got us good", "damn they're tricky"... We all just played for fun to see how the supposed AI improvements were coming along, and subsequently kept our cool. No one got upset. No one got aggressive. We just played. And oddly enough, even despite some serious mistakes, we still won a match that normally I wouldn't have bet on.

What I have inferred is:
You are playing a normal match, with the normal enemy team. But Riot does not show you the enemy team's names, it shows you fake bot names, meanwhile the enemy team doesn't see your name, they see a fake bot name.
So the match is normal, but each side sees the other side's names replaced by "Cho'Gath Bot" or whatever.

About 25 minutes into the game, one of the pugs I played with asked "you do know they're not bots, right?"
