Aeon, the Ancestor of Runeterra
Cooldown reduction is a cool mechanic to have in a game. It allows ability-based champions to lower the downtime in their damage while not being too overpowered with its 40% cap. URF mode showed us that breaking the cap with current champions would break the game, but what if a champion was designed to break that cap? Designed around repeatedly casting his spells and stacking their benefits, Aeon scales more heavily off of cooldown reduction than any other offensive stat while having serious weaknesses in his heavy usage of mana and immobility.
Passive: Elder Magic
Aeon's cooldown reduction is not capped at 40%, but he receives 50% less cooldown reduction past 40% and 75% less past 60%. Furthermore, all of his basic spells share a global cooldown equal to each of their listed cooldowns. (Realistically, this caps at 71.25% CDR with 5 20% CDR items, Ionian Boots of Lucidity and blue buff.
Each time Aeon casts a spell, he gains a stack of Elder Magic for 3 seconds (max 5). Each stack of Elder Magic decreases the mana cost of Aeon's basic abilities by 2 mana and increases his maximum mana by 2% per stack.
Notes: This passive synergizes very well with Aeon's kit, and offers him a small buffer against overspending his mana throughout the game. Early game, -10 mana a cast is decent, while later game the same mana decrease is quite significant especially considering how much he'll be casting by that point. However, in the long run Aeon won't be able to sustain his mana by his passive alone and will still need outside sources of mana and mana regen.
Q: Rune of Ruin 40 Mana | 3 second cooldown
Aeon invokes a rune of anger on his body for 2 seconds that grants a selfish buff that stacks with itself indefinitely. The first stack of Rune of Ruin changes Aeon's basic attacks to deal 15/30/45/60/75 (+.5 total AD) (+.2 AP) magic damage instead of his normal basic attack damage. Further stacks of Rune of Ruin increase the damage dealt by Aeon's basic attacks by 9/13/17/21/25 (+.15 total AD) (+.05 AP) magic damage per stack. Activating another Rune of Ruin refreshes the duration of the buff, but other abilities do not.
W: Rune of Malice 40 Mana | 3 second cooldown
Aeon invokes a rune of cold hatred on his body for 2 seconds that grants a selfish buff that stacks with itself indefinitely. The first stack of Rune of Malice changes Aeon's basic attack to apply a 10/15/20/25/30% movement and attack speed slow to all enemies struck. Further stacks of Rune of Malice add a 1/2/3/4/5% movement and attack speed slow per stack onto Aeon's basic attacks. Activating another Rune of Malice refreshes the duration of the buff, but other abilities do not.
E: Rune of Harmony 40 Mana | 3 second cooldown
Aeon invokes a rune of gentle nature on his body for 3 seconds that grants a selfish buff that stacks with itself indefinitely. The first stack of Rune of Harmony changes Aeon's basic attacks to heal him for 9/12/15/18/21 (+.15 AP) health per basic attack. Further stacks of Rune of Harmony heal an additional 2/4/6/8/10 (+.05 AP) per stack on each basic attack. Activating another Rune of Harmony refreshes the duration of the buff, but other abilities do not.
R: Runic Domination 100 Mana | 60s cooldown
Aeon consumes all stacks of all Runes to gain a variety of bonuses based on the runes consumed. Lasts 4 seconds, plus 1 second per Rune consumed.
Runes of Ruin: Aeon's basic attacks deal an additional 25/50/75 (+.2 AP) magic damage per stack of Rune of Ruin consumed. Runes of Malice: Enemies around Aeon have their movement and attack speed slowed by 5/10/15% per stack of Rune of Malice consumed. Runes of Harmony: Aeon is instantly healed for 20/35/50 (+.2 AP) health per stack of Rune of Harmony consumed.
