Sorrow's End Sorrow rests beneath the old ancient trees covered with the fallen red golden leaves that hide its wild roots, the dead, that tried the forbidden jungle fruits.
Deep inside where the shadows are gathered lie young men, their lives shattered, surrounded by the wind that still holds their names, the only memory that remains, they mourn the wanderer who joined them in battle, and the ones who ate the poisoned apple.
Farewell my brothers and sisters. Farewell shallow water that gently whispers. Goodbye, bright stars over the sky you have to go and so must I.
Song Explanation/Lore
The idea for the character is almost 2 years old but I never posted it; and to answer your question "why now" - riot in the newer champions/updates added some of the ideas that I thought of back then but I never publicly spoke about them, so this is the final one that's left.
I took inspiration from
lore and made up a story.
lore talks about a war between two great factions - Protectorate/Magelords; and hints atrocities done by them, or at least by the Protectorate. Inside the whole mess otherwise known as war I placed my character, an innocent bystander who got affected by the bloodshed and corrupted by the magic. Though I'm bad with naming characters in the stories I write, I tried my best to give her a name that hints to who she is.
I called her Alvae, from the Norwegian word Älva - female elf) and she represents the untouched nature or even "mother nature" in some way.
Lines 1-4 Talk about the ancient war between the 2 factions from the current perspective. The fallen leaves hide the dead who are the cause of the sorrow, the Protectorate forces who "tried the forbidden jungle fruits" - those who won.
Lines 5-12
Talk about the Magelord forces that died, how people today just remember them as Magelords but not by their names because they lost the war.
They mourn the wanderer,
who joined the other side and the Protectorate forces who got blinded by the thirst for blood.
Lines 13-16 Alvae is saying farewell to the forest creatures "brothers and sisters", trees, streams, rivers and ponds who got affected by the war or died and at the end she is saying "goodbye" to the stars that she knew (that are above the forest) because she has to go avenge them.
Gameplay ideas I see her as a squishy mobile champion that goes in and out of combat wounding her enemy with slashes and cuts. For her weapon she uses a thick bent root that she carved adding an edge and a point at the end, if that isn't enough she coats it with different poisons. Her main game mechanic is "corruption/rage". She doesn't have a mana bar. She sees all the magic abilities that are casted around her and gets more affected by them. More corruption=more enraged =more dmg. More about it in the ult part. Important note: I'm not into champion stats +there is a lot that goes into it
Passive Has 2 parts
Barefoot/ed Alvae had no touch with the outside world before she took up herself to revenge the natures loss. Neither sandals nor boots or shoes are things that she desires. She walks the murky forests barefoot with a gentle touch beneath her feet without showing a single drop of hesitation or fear towards the shadows that lurk amongst the treetops and inside the bushes (brushes). But she has to get used to walking on the roads. **In game- ** cant buy boots similarly to
(told u some of the stuff has been implemented :D) but with a twist. When inside the jungle area her movement speed is greatly increased but while on the lanes she is slowed until she gets used to walking on the "roads" (maybe per lvl gets faster)
2nd part
The 1st enemy hit she cuts (slashes) the target 2 times. Both cuts got reduced dmg. Applies effect "Thorns cut" that lasts couple of seconds and takes %currentHpDmg off the target. Effect does not stack but is refreshed each time she basics the target. After not attacking the target for couple seconds the wound heals Note: "Thorns cut" doesnt debuff its target with %grievous_wounds (more in the ultimate part)
Q - Natures Regards
Alvae stabs her opponent poisoning him/her. She uses 2 kinds of poisons lethal/non lethal, but only non lethal when her ultimate is not active. If the target has been " _____ cut" (passive) the poison spreads faster. In other words depending on the poison the effect lasts longer and ramps up faster; enemy is affected by the poison for its duration with the effect fading off after its peak.
**W- Homegrown **
Alvae drinks from her soft leather pouch that contains water and a mixture of herbs local to her home area, gaining back some energy but also removing some of the corruption. While I was designing the ability in my mind I thought of many things but most of them didn't feel right with the rest or something was missing, so each time i scrapped the whole thing and started again. "Homegrown" is the latest idea and the one I decided to keep. Basically I wanted something that gives her power in the short term but negates her power in the long run. Sacrificing power for life. Note: after using the ability the cooldown gets lowered by a lot if Alvae is in the river area - replenishes the water. Homegrown removes all poison effects and ability effects (cc) aka the debuffs - serves as a cure

I couldn't decide this If you have ideas that would go well with her kit write it down. More about my ideas at the end
R- Vindictive blood
As I stated before she has a corruption bar that fills up. When it gets to 100% she gets corrupted/enraged (thx a lot
) and starts seeking revenge. She coats her weapon with lethal poison and hunts them down. Her W removes, lets say 10% of the bar each time she uses it. Corruption doesn't fade by itself till it reaches 100%. Rage/killing spree lasts a certain amount of time after which it gets lowered back to lets say 30%, she there is still something natural inside her resisting it but something ends up left behind each time. Also an idea was if the bar reaches 100% multiple times, the corruption part takes more of her (after rage runs out corruption gets back to >30%) Enraged buffs/debuffs:
- "Thorns cut" (passive) changes to "Vital cut", she seeks for the vital parts of the enemy cutting those areas with deep cuts =more dmg
- Coats lethal poison on her Q. When hit by Q enemy takes more dmg over a short period of time but isn't slowed
- W - if "homegrown" is used while she is enraged the duration of the buff gets lowered, again forcing a player to choose between more damage rotations but serving as a sacrifice or less damage but ending up alive (maybe). *Visually changes when enraged
Other
Here I will write some of the ideas that didn't make it but also talk about her E.
When I first thought of her kit I knew that I wanted her to use jungle to her advantage. One of the ideas (for her E) was that she could jump over the walls but guess who got that thing
, one of the things that contributed to me writing this post. Another was she would charge to the enemy jump over them and kick them back but that sounded dumb, gl pushing back d rock
.
Her w at the time was like a dust she would blow that would cause monsters to fight each other (small wolves the big one) and some other stuff, but the idea sounded meh.
In the early stages she had no character, corruption pfff wuz that? She did have potions for her ult thou that you could choose by picking stuff in the jungle, similary to
chormz and she had 2 daggers with 1 being used as her basic attack and for slashing other for stabbing.
I thought of giving her traps to secure the jungle and extend her jungle pressure but that would mean her lane pressure would be low. Due to the jungler role being early/mid game pressure she would turn into a heavy farm jungler, and her teamfighting would be 0.
The latest idea was Natures call or force of nature, with her calling upon the animals to aide her ..after a delay animals appear and start hitting the target she hits 1 animal early game multiple later she can chose to send them to scout. After some time they go back to their normal lives
There were couple ideas that had to do with this one:
- Animals being different species that have diff dmg, movement speed etc - all serve a diff purpose
- Being able to command the individual animals in some way... example if there is an owl (can move over walls, fast but low dmg) send her to scout, or if there is a wolf send him to harass the enemy jungler. But also them hitting the same target when u hit it
You see why this would be a problem right? So I left her without an E for now. I apologize for that this post is more of me laying out the idea that I had rather than it being a full piece.
