General Concept

One of Demacia's greatest knights, Nephree is cursed by an evil ring offered to her by Aatrox, willingly accepting the curse in order to bring a powerful necromancer to justice. Now she seeks to master this dark power in the name of justice, but struggles to maintain control while afflicted by the curse.

Nephree is a melee tanky fighter who excels at forcing duels and defeating enemy duelists and carries. Similar to Olaf and Tryndamere, Nephree is most lethal when she is almost dead. Unlike them, however, she lacks sustain, something that she compensates with via her shield ability, Cruel Justice, which becomes stronger and stronger as she gets lower on health. This, coupled with her Guilty Blade's increased damage when low on health, lets her turn the tables on her enemies.

Last Update: Sept. 8, 2015

P - Heart of Darkness

Nephree gains up to 20/30/40 bonus armor and magic resistance based on her missing health (increases at levels 7 and 13, respectively). Nephree reaches maximum bonuses at 30% or lower health.

Q - Guilty Blade

Nephree's next basic attack releases dark power from her blade, dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+1.0 total AD) to 60/90/120/150/180 (+1.5 total AD) physical damage based on how low Nephree's health is (damage maxes out at 30% or less health remaining). Resets attack timer.

9/8/7/6/5 second cooldown. Costs 30/35/40/45/50 mana.

W - Cruel Justice

Nephree releases a burst of darkness around her, dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+0.4 bonus AD) physical damage to all nearby enemies (300 range). If an enemy Champion or large monster is damaged by Cruel Justice, Nephree receives a shield for 2 seconds that absorbs up to 40/55/70/85/100 (+5% of bonus health) damage; this shield's strength increases by 1% based on Nephree's missing health (maxes out when Nephree is at 30% or less health).

Maximum shield strength: 80/110/140/170/200 (+10% of bonus health)

Each autoattack that hits Nephree reduces Cruel Justice's cooldown by 0.25 seconds; this effect is quadrupled for Champions.

14/13/12/11/10 second cooldown. Costs 60/65/70/75/80 mana.

E - Demacian Retribution

Nephree releases a blast from her sword in target direction (skillshot, max. 700 range) that deals 60/90/120/150/180 (+0.8 bonus AD) physical damage to the first enemy it hits and Curses it for 3 seconds. Whenever a Cursed enemy uses a basic attack, it takes 20/30/40/50/60 (+0.1 AP) magic damage.

Nephree gains 30/35/40/45/50% bonus movement speed when moving toward a cursed enemy Champion.

12 second cooldown. Costs 75 mana at all ranks.

R - Dark Judgment

Nephree charges at target enemy Champion (600 range), dealing 150/300/450 (+1.25 bonus AD) physical damage to it, taunting it for 1.5/1.75/2 seconds, and knocking back all other enemies within 200 range upon reaching the target, dealing half damage to all secondary targets.

While charging, Nephree is immune to crowd control effects. Taunted enemies are forced to attack Nephree and their basic attacks deal half damage.

140/110/80 second cooldown. Costs 100 mana.

Background (short version for now)

A valiant, but troubled knight in service to Demacia, Nephree is a dark force for justice in a nation that remains wary and even fearful of her. Cursed by an ancient Darkin ring, but given terrible powers in exchange, Nephree wields her curse as a weapon against those who would threaten Demacia, whilst simultaneously fighting against the same corruptive power she brandishes.

Trivia

  • Nephree "taunts" her opponents by directing her own darkness into her foe. This darkness briefly overtakes her foe, sending them into a frenzy.
  • Nephree and Jarvan IV used to be in a relationship with one another, but the two deny any sort of romantic connection. However, Nephree seems to be quite jealous of Shyvana, who is rather close to Jarvan.
  • Nephree and Quinn are old friends, despite that Nephree is a noblewoman.
  • Nephree has a bit of a competitive rivalry with Garen, as both are knight commanders in Demacia. She is rather amused by his relationship with Katarina.

Quotes (incomplete)

Selection Justice, no matter the cost. Movement My burdens weigh upon my soul. Justice through darkness. I will never forget my vows. I must maintain control. My life for Demacia. Attacking You should be running. Demacia, now and forever! Craven curs!

I'd add that enemies that are taunted deal reduced damage to Nephree but I really like your idea!

I don't think copying the anime "fate/stay night" is a good idea. Riot might get sued

Hell yeah! Evil Saber is just as awesome as regular Saber! Maybe more so!

I really like this champ idea and would certainly try her out should she make it into the League. My ONLY suggestion is that you consider making one of her abilities scale off AP, and that is only because I've noticed that League of Legends does NOT have a lot of champs who use only AD.

On a side note, considering that the Fate series is my favorite anime BY FAR, I can't help but love the fact that you used Saber-Alter as your reference.

I love this idea and I think she resembles "Saber" from the Fate series and I that just makes it even better.

This is a really well put-together and designed idea! I could see this champ in game. I wonder if she'd want to fight Aiden or get along with him....anyhow, great idea. Oh, and I'm also here promoting my fanfiction (titled "The Dark Rebellion"). I'd love it if some people could give me feedback in the form of comments.

I've read the story of Nephree a few times. I honestly like a few of her original moves myself, but this reworked hit is pretty good too. I really love the Heart of Darkess Passive, but i also feel as if should be the passive to her Ult, and you should've kept that retaliation type passive from the original kit (But still scale it with AD/AP). Hope this review helps.

+1 Please review my concept Orion

I feel like the ad ratios are a bit much but other than that its a good design

Been a while since I updated Nephree.

Nephree's shield got some modifications. Its base strength is now lower, but the shield's strength now increases based on Nephree's missing health, capping out when she's 30% or lower. Gives her better "turn the tables" capabilities, which may be a direction I look to go in for her. However, it's now lost its AD reduction effect, which I felt was kinda tacked on.

I'm still weighing the option on whether or not to return her "Counter Helix" mechanic from her older iterations, as it's very difficult to balance and make fun for both her and the enemy. As anyone would tell you about Rammus, Thorns damage isn't a very fun mechanic.

Haven't updated Nephree in a long while.

Mostly a lot of number balance changes, but also Nephree's E Curse now causes the victim to take magic damage every time they attack, not just when they attack Nephree while Cursed. As long as the visuals are appropriate, this Curse effect would be absolutely fine, according to Meddler.

The concept is good, though I would actually looking into using and original design that is not from the Fate series.

I'm looking into giving Nephree another rework. Might even start a new topic for it, but we'll see.

The general idea is to turn Nephree into a juggernaut whose threat level gets higher and higher the closer she is to death. Her new ultimate, Ebonmere, will represent her turning to her cursed power, which will rapidly drain her health in exchange for a huge boost in combat capability.

Here's a rough draft of what I'm looking to do with her new ultimate:

#Ebonmere (Toggle) Nephree taps into the Ebonmere's power, granting her a large lifesteal bonus, a 15-20% increase (undecided) to her total attack damage, and bonus effects to all of her basic abilities. However, Nephree's base health regeneration is reduced to 0, and she drains X health per second. This upkeep cost increases every second, and automatically deactivates if Nephree is reduced below 10% of her maximum health.

Yes, this will mean Nephree has no mobility outside of her E's MS bonus, but that will be part of the point. Making her a juggernaut means I can make her extremely powerful, but able to be kited and outmaneuvered easily. Besides, we have no female juggernauts right now, so she could be a good start.
