Mouse, The Gravity Mage

I'll preface this by saying that it started out as a stream-of-consciousness concept I dropped in another topic. I'm putting it here primarily so it's in the proper location.

Mouse, The Gravity Mage

Passive: Each of Mouse's abilities apply Stacks of burden. Stacks last 5 seconds and have no cap. Each stack of Burden reduces the victim's move and attack speed by by .5-5%

Q: Mouse spikes the gravity in target area for 1-5 seconds and applies a stack of burden every .5 seconds. This ability deals damage each second based on the number of stacks on the victim(s).

W: (This ability is a double cast similar to Victor's Laser) Mouse redirects the gravity at target location knocking affected enemies in target direction and dealing magic damage based on their number of Burden stacks. This ability then applies 1-5 stacks of burden based on how close affected enemies were to the initial casting point (closer = more stacks).

E: Mouse creates a gravitational singularity and sends it forward applying 3 stacks Burden to enemies hit, then deals magic damage based on their number of Burden stacks. Nearby enemies receive 2 stacks of burden and take no damage.

R: Mouse Creates a super dense gravitational vortex over a large area for the next 5 seconds. Enemies moving toward the center gain 300 move speed; enemies moving away from the center have their move speed set to 110 (This can not be increased). Movement abilities can not be activated while inside the vortex (this includes all dashes, blinks, Zeds, and flash; does not prevent a Kali ult if she is outside the vortex). Vortex Continually refreshes the Burden stacks on affected enemies. If an affected enemy has 10 or more burden stacks, their vision is reduced to the AoE of the Vortex.

Quick stream of consciousness concept. I give you the anti-mobility support!

Ability intent: Q: Zoning tool. W: Versatile Displacement tool. E: Harass tool. R: A big "F U" to anyone who relies on mobility in any form.

Balance Notes:

  • I intentionally gated Mouse's damage behind the passive stacks. This serves 2 goals. First: the lack of reliable damage makes it less likely he will try to solo lane (which, as we all know, is illegal for supports). Second: It frees up more power budget that I can spend on utility.
  • I imagine E to to be similar to a Nidalee spear in terms of range and central hit-box. The secondary hit-box will be much larger.
  • The ult is a flat better version of Thresh's; I'm already aware of this. That said, this ability is a core thematic component of this kit. Mouse also doesn't have nearly as many tools as Thresh does. But just to be safe, I also removed any damage from the ult.

List of modifications:

  1. Gated all damage behind passive stacks.
  • added a vision debuff to ult for enemies that have a lot of stacks.

Primary Discussion points:

  1. Energy I think it would be interesting to make this an energy champion. Not because Energy is inherently stronger than Mana, but because it's an easier and more interesting balance point. I would probably add to the passive a way to increase Mouse's energy regeneration for short periods (since the flat refund is over done). --- (Energy is not, in and of it's self, stronger than mana. Riot just broke the champions who use it.)

  2. Numbers I'm not a numbers person. I avoid them when can. But if this is going to be a proper champion concept, it probably needs them.

3) Q Displacement TomA3X wanted to make the Q into another displacement, instead of a zoning tool. I think 1 aimed displacement is enough. Which do you prefer?

  1. Passive cap. The passive is currently subject to Infinite stacking abuse (see Kali's Rend). But it's also the core gate for Mouse's damage. Should this be capped, or is it safe to leave uncapped?

  2. W knock-back distance Another idea from TomA3X is to increase W's knock-back distance based on number of stacks on affected enemies. I like this idea, but it might mess up readability of the skill for the caster. Thoughts?

I was thinking about resources, we could possibly think about having a new resource, depending on how powerful the stacks turn out to be. It could be that His resource bar takes a hit whilst he is Affecting enemies with the Burden Stacks. For example, he can almost 'control' the enemies he has stacks on by slowing them at will, but this costs a resource. Just a quick idea^

We can probably leave numbers out until the end, it's probably better to come up with the entire concept first, then tune numbers and we can see if there are any mechanics which are inherently 'broken'.

This would entirely depend on whether we're going for a support champion, or a midlaner. It's not a good idea to give a mid laner infinite stacking damage, as well as excellent utility.

I really like the vision idea for the ultimate, that's an excellent use of the passive.

I hate to sound accusatory, but approximately half of this kit looks quite similar to mine: Gre'Zol, the Weight of the Void. Passive, Q, and R in particular. Not identical (though the passive is incredibly close), but similar.

I'd happily try to help you figure out numbers for yours (and I'm still spending a lot of time tweaking mine), but I'd also like to find a way to differentiate the two some more.
