"Give into me my beautiful child, there is no escape for you now." - Nyxia, The Night Reaper

"My father use to tell me stories of the time he encountered the woman. I wouldn't be able to sleep those nights." - Garen, The Might Of Demacia

The being known as Nyxia is a complete enigma upon Runeterra, with no one truly able to describe who she is and where she comes from. Tales tell of an unspeakably beautiful and majestic women who stalks the most desolate of places, utilizing her beautiful yet grisly smile to inspire fear into the hearts of all who glance at it. While her exact origin is unknowable, one thing is certain and that is if she has her malevolent mind set on you your fate will most certainly end at the tip of her scythe.

Many years ago, a terrible monster stalked the forest surrounding the Serpentine River. As Demacia's primary source of fresh water, merchants would occasionally venture to the banks to collect these precious gallons. However as fetchers of the water would continually go missing night after night, nearly all merchants would cease traveling to the banks out of fear of meeting a similar fate. Turmoil would break out in Demacia over a lack of water that was ensuing, and tales of a Night Reaper was formulating within the walls. In order to handle the growing paranoia that was taking place, Demacia's House Lightshield would form an elite team of knights lead by Pieter - head of the Crownguard - to handle whatever threat was responsible for the disappearances at the Serpentine River.

Pieter and his elite team made for the river as before the sun began to set, and would arrive as nightfall fell upon them. On the path leading up to the bank of the Serpentine River, they would see the horrific dismembered corpses of those which had journeyed here before. One of the many deceased men at the river had engraved a warning into the ground near his final resting place, warning any and all journeying to the river to turn back immediately before "she" realizes you're there. The disturbed men began to approach the bank of the river, to which they would all would see a beautiful yet distressed girl crying. As one of the team's knights attempted to comfort the poor infant, the girl would then turn her head and stare the man dead in the eye, flashing a malevolent, grisly smile. Moments later the previously crying girl would completely dissolve into a flock of bats, while the nearby darkened trees would begin to spark with blood red eyes that glowed bright in the night. As Pieter and his knights took formation for whatever was coming, a flurry of bats would begin to assault them as a woman in the background would let loose disturbing yet beautiful giggles.

While Pieter and his elite team managed to survive the onslaught of the many bats that previously attacked them, nothing prepared them for what was to come next. Momentarily relieved that their ordeal had seemingly passed, a beautiful horned women would then come from out of of the darkness and then proceed to smile at the fatigued soldiers. Attempting to convince the soldiers to accept their fate and give into her without resisting, Pieter would proceed to throw one of his many swords towards the malevolent spirit. Enraged, Nyxia drew her scythe from nothingness and then proceeded to attack the men, easily dispatching them in utter horror. As Pieter and the last three of his men stood valiantly against the demon, they would be saved by mere strings of fate as the rays of sunlight began to form a border between themselves and the woman before them. The sun's border began to grow larger and larger drawing back the darkness, where afterwards the woman would wave them goodbye before completely fading into a colony of bats back into the trees behind her.

Pieter and his last surviving men made their way back to Demacia, leaving behind the haunted river along with the graves of those which were murdered by the demon. Oddly enough, as they made their way back to their kingdom the corpses of those which were killed on the path leading to the bank of the river had seemingly vanished. Nonetheless they arrived at Demacia and told House Lightshield of all that had occurred during their ordeal, and King Jarvan III was determined to end the terror this spirit was causing to his people.

The King would call for a magical ritual to be done that would forever defend the outside borders of Demacia leading to the Serpentine River, effectively repelling this evil spirit from his country's outskirts. Over the next following days, a collection of Demacia's most powerful mages would perform a spell that would form a barrier to protect anyone traveling to the river from this evil spirit indefinitely. Many months would pass without an incident, with many finally believing that the creature was finally drawn away from her domain. However, none would suspect that her form of revenge would be one of the most unspeakable acts of murder Demacia had seen.

Over the following years, Nyxia gathered her dark energies to be able to break the barrier into Demacia's petricite walls to fulfill her revenge. She had amassed a growing group of cultist followers, who would bring ill-fated souls to her where she would feed on their fear before reaping the life energy out of them. When she finally had gathered all her strength, she made her way into the enchanted walls that seemingly protected Demacia from foreign magical threats. While her newfound strength would only allow her entry into Demacia for a shortened period of time, this time would eventually form the bane of any dark magic practitioner or demonic entity. Completely hidden from the eyes of the watchful Demacian soldiers, Nyxia's managed to slip through the cracks of to the many anti-magic trees and petricite formations. She traversed Demacia for hours, before finally fixating her eyes on a wealthy couple: the couple that had oversaw the shipping of the petricite rocks which would lead to the spell that withdrew her from her domain. When their daughter left for a midsummer banquet to celebrate her sixteenth birthday, Nyxia would infiltrate their house to begin her horrific form of revenge.

_The mistress would be the first to encounter the vile spirit in her household, before the creature would place her hand over the terrified mortal's mouth and whisper in her ear for her to quite down. Crying and at the mercy of this demon's will, she would guide her towards their dining quarters where the head of the house would be enjoying a late night dinner. As the man laid eyes upon the malevolent spirit along with his captive wife before him, he would run for his armory but would be telekinetically grabbed by Nyxia along with his lover. The demon would then let loose a seductive, malevolent laugh before reaping the two helpless Demacians simultaneously, leaving nothing but their bloodied corpse remaining as a token of her conquest. Moments later the family's door would open, the couples daughter - Shauna Vayne - had returned from her banquet. When Nxyia first laid eyes on the terrified girl's face, she heard as Vayne wailed with terror and agony at the sight of her slain parents. The demon left the now orphan girl with a terrible, lustful smile: a smile that would forge a burning rage within Vayne's heart. _

Nyxia proceeded to fade away into a colony of bats that would make their escape out of the family's household, leaving Shauna Vayne alone and traumatized before her deceased parents. While she managed to successfully escape Demacia without being detected by any of the anti-magic precautions, she made a grave mistake leaving Shauna Vayne alive as she greatly underestimated the human capacity for vengeance. In the years after her parents death, Shauna Vayne would grow up to be one of the most infamous demon hunters Valoran has seen, and Nyxia's worst threat. Wherever the demon spreads her terror, Vayne follows shortly behind eager to fire her silver bolts into every part of her gorgeous, demonic body.

Fear Bringer: Nyxia's abilities apply "Transfixing Terror" to enemy champions and epic/large monsters whenever they deal damage to them, stacking up to 5 times and lasting 4 seconds with Nyxia basic attacks refreshing the duration of current stacks but not adding additional ones. Nyxia's next basic attack against a target with 5 stacks of Transfixing Terror will cause them to take magic damage over 3 seconds, grant her bonus attack speed for 3.5 seconds and fear them for 1 second while all minions and monsters in a radius around this target are feared for the same duration. Targets can only be affected by Transfixing Terror once every few seconds, with Nyxia's basic attacks against targets previously affected by it reducing the duration they are further immune to it by 1 second. Fear Feaster: Whenever Nyxia damages an enemy unit that is affected by fear, she heals herself for a base amount plus percentage of her ability power. If Nyxia damages multiple enemies affected by fear simultaneously, she only heals for 40% benefit for each enemy after the first.

Active: Nyxia channels for 1 - 3.5 second(s) and then becomes a ravenous flurry of demonic bats that will travel swiftly to the target location, maneuvering around terrain and passing through units. While moving towards the target location, Nyxia cannot utilize basic attacks or cast abilities but is untargetable and will deal magic damage to any enemy she passes through while also slowing them by 60% for 0.5 seconds. Once Nyxia reaches her destination she will compress herself honing her dark energies and after a 0.25 second delay will disperse the bats, dealing magic damage to all nearby enemies while fearing them for 1 second before returning back to her human form. Additionally, Nyxia will gain a shield for 3 seconds upon returning back into her human form, with its strength being increased by 20% for every enemy champion that was previously damaged in the dispersion, up to a 60% increase. This ability can be recast while Nyxia is in her bat's form, dealing 50% of the dispersion magic damage after a 0.25 second delay along with its effects to all enemies at her current location instead. When this ability is initially cast the map becomes darker and Nyxia will let loose a global taunt that all champions can hear.

  • Range: 3000/3500/4000
  • Cool Down: 165/140/115 Seconds

Ability Notes

  • The channel time is based upon whether or not she is taking damage from enemy champions.
  • Once the channel time begins it cannot be stopped by any means excluding hard crowd controlling effects, during which the ability is placed on its full cool down.
  • The length of the bats is roughly 800 units long while its width is about 350 units.
  • When this ability makes the map darker, it doesn't apply nearsight to enemy champions as its simply another effect to let you know she's ulted.
  • Vespertilio means bat in latin.

Is the passive triggered once for every cast or each time the target gets a point of damage from an ability? Because in the first case i think that you would need full CDR to reach 5 stacks. Is she melee or ranged ?

  • Q: Seems like an OP version of Ahri's Q, deals more damage while also applying a slow AND (potentially) a silence. I think that if you want to balance this, you could make the Owl-orb-thing, stay in place once it reaches maximum distance, and come back after a small interval. Making it "easy" to dodge, so to ensure a second hit you have to plan accordingly.

-W: I think it would feel more engaging if it were like: "increases armor/mr, if she receives more than X damage, releases a nova of energy dealing Y damage in aoe". Though in general, abilities that increase armor/mr are tanks, this would incline players towards building HP items on her. It could also be made to target allies, that would make some interesting interactions.

-W (active) : Can she jump to any target (wards, allies, minions) or just enemies ? This also looks more like an ability an assassin would have over a sustain mage.

-R: Being untargettable removes almost every counterplay, i would give her the shield when she starts channeling instead of later and remove the untargettability.
