hey guys and girls, im sure we are all familiar with the three doran starting items, the ones you buy and then sell when you need space for components

well what if..... you could upgrade and build these items up into better items?

since im mostly an AP champions player let me start with Doran's Ring

Doran's Grimoir item 3165 45 AP 60 HP 70% base mana regen 10% CDR Unique Passive - restore 8 mana upon killing a unit item 1056 + item 3108 + 70 gold

builds into one of two items

for battle mages

Doran's Arcane Soul Stealer item 3692 70 AP 260 HP 10% CDR Unique Passive - Abilities cost an extra 15% of your current mana to heal you for 60% of the damage you deal Unique Passive - gain 15 Magic Pen Unique Passive - Restore 12 Mana upon Killing a Unit item 3165 + item 3916 + 350 gold

for Burst mages

Doran's Arcane Cloak item 3694 100 AP 60 HP 10% CDR Unique Passive - upon killing an enemy champion, gain an extra 200 EXP Unique Passive - Restore 12 Mana Upon killing a Unit item 3165 + item 1058 + 450 gold

now for the AD champions

Doran's Spear item 3599 36 AD 80 HP 3% Life Steal 10% CDR item 1055 + item 3133 + 70 gold

For Bruisers

for ADC

what do you guys think? if any of these sound broken op or very weak please tell me in the comments and ill attempt to fix them

The point of most starting items is to give a one-time boost to earlygame effectiveness and be a minor-factor by the midgame...

If the items scaled up(even if the items upgraded into were awful) that would defeat the purpose of having them be Early game items...

You might as well make all of your items as entirely new items so that you can have more creativity with them because right now, all of those items that you made are upgraded starting items...

with the exception of Doran's Blazing longsword and Doran's Arcane Soul Stealer, everything else is just a straight upgrade and buff to the starter items...

plus the Amped mana restore of Doran's Arcane Soul Stealer and Doran's Arcane cloak makes them insanely broken due to anyone that gets them before their opponents would have infinite mana in the lane phase...

I agree with what MuffledGarbage said. I have a few things to add as well though. Arcane Cloak can't have the exp boost or else it would make snowballing mages way too strong and its best to leave exp boosts to jungle items. Blazing Long Sword's burn sounds way too strong. As I see it for this item there are a couple ways of having the dot aplied: Either A-The dot does decent damage but has a low tick rate (1 tick per second for 2 seconds) B- low damage and fast tick rate (1 tick per .5s for 2s). Based on the damage the dot did it would be fine but the biggest problem is the last part of the burn's text: burn also triggers on hit effects- this would turn items like rage blade and BotRK a lethal combination also it could even be bought on blood razer junglers for even more burn. Lastly Your spirtual Lantern Idea wouldn't work since old locket used to have the passive and they removed it because they didn't like defensive aura's. Leaveing the only auras to be offensive ones like bami and frozen heart
