Lore:

To many, Les'Moq simply appears as a giant, mutated mosquito. What people don't realize is that Les'Moq is actually a collective of smaller organisms called Moq that all work collectively as a hive mind. Originally from the Void, Les'Moq flies around Valoran finding healthy hosts to either feed from or create more Moq, leaving little else behind them but drained corpses. Les'Moq has little else in mind but to infect the world with themself and become everyone, but with the people of Valoran boarding up their doors and sectioning off villages as quarantine zones, Les'Moq's goal to spread has become much more challenging.

Plenty of people hate mosquitoes; they carry diseases, contaminate food and leave itchy bumps on your skin. But ever since Les'Moq's appearance from the Void, the people of Valoran have learned to fear mosquitoes. Les'Moq began as a single organism called a "Moq" that managed to make its way into Valoran through a portal from the dying dimension known as the Void. Fortunately for Les'Moq, Valoran had many more subjects to infect and spread to, and more importantly, it allowed Les'Moq to become more of themself.

Les'Moq's first victim was a poor Shuriman merchant, who nearly ended everything with a swift slap to the back of the neck. However, Les'Moq was fortunate enough to avoid it, and was able to successfully lay a clutch of eggs in the man's neck. They stayed near the man, and as the eggs grew, they could feel them mature, wriggling in their living incubator and growing their legs and wings. When the time came, the Moq in the man's neck burst out in a bloody mess, and joined with Les'Moq. Together, they fed on the man, devouring him and becoming stronger. From there, Les'Moq continued to grow in both power and numbers.

Within months of Les'Moq's emergence into Valoran, they had grown the size of a large dog. Within a year, they were easily the size of a house. It became harder to surprise unsuspecting humans, however with the sheer numbers advantage, Les'Moq no longer had a need to hide. As more corpses were left behind, more city-states learned of Les'Moq and put aside differences to collaborate against infection. Demacians and Noxians, Pilties and Zaunites, everyone worked together in order to prevent what could be the end of life as they knew it.

The Noxians increased their security, and executed anyone suspected to be infected. They discovered that fire was able to neutralize adolescent Moq before their full maturity, and they figured that as long as some of the Moq felt pain, Les'Moq would feel it too. Demacia on the other hand created quarantine areas, sectioning off villages that have supposedly been infected by Les'Moq. If none of the villagers showed any signs of infection, they simply let them be. This plan has not always been effective, as some Moq have managed to hatch and escape.

Pilties tended to exile any infected to Zaun, though sometimes the rich manage to bribe their way from exile. This has not been overly good for Piltover or Zaun, as both of them have a lot of bodies they have to bury, and a lot of bugs that need to be eradicated. At the very least, the chemical air in Zaun appears to poison Moq upon hatching, so some have even fled deeper into the depths to keep themselves safe.

Les'Moq has heard of all of these plans, and was at first upset at such a development. The beings here also collaborate, albeit not as effectively, and they are working to prevent their spread. Les'Moq knew that they would need to adapt to these new plans, but in order to achieve their goal, there isn't much that they wouldn't do. They will be everyone. They will be all that is left. They will be Les'Moq.

Gameplay:

Playing as Les'Moq

When playing as a hive mind, you obviously have to think about more than yourself. You have to think about ways that can benefit everyone. While Les'Moq doesn't have any hard crowd control, their incredible sustaining ability thanks to Hive Mentality allows them to either sustain by themself or keep their Bot lane partner alive. In lane, proper managing of health between Hive Mentality and Blood Shot will allow for solid poke with little to no response, however improper management or being caught out can easily scatter this hive.

In a team fight, Les'Moq plays best in the middle of everything, looking to deal as much damage to everyone as they can in order to create as many Many Into One zones as possible before their own death. After an engage , Les'Moq can join the fight with a Flight of the Moq leading into a Feed the Hive, dealing a lot of damage to the front line and healing those who manage to make it into the back line.

Tips and Tricks:

  • In lane, sometimes a well-timed Hive Mentality can change the fight more than any damage Les'Moq can deal. Allowing healing from abilities can turn a failing gank into a Jungler making it out with just barely enough health, or letting an ADC get enough health to prevent a revenge kill from the enemy Support.

  • Les'Moq's best place is in the middle of the fight, so even if they die, their passive, Many Into One can help their team if it turns out life isn't working in their favor.

  • Remember that Hive Mentality is limited in its healing capabilities. The health on basic attacks is static regardless of damage, and the health with bonus abilities only works if they deal damage to CHAMPIONS, and its long cooldown makes it so it needs to be used only when necessary.
