Is iBlitzcrank's Hook Less Telegraphed?

This has bothered me for a while. When I see a standard Blitz pull it's obvious what's about to happen. He raises his right arm and grips it for the standard 0.25 second cast time. With iBlitzcrank though, it doesn't seem like he has a casting animation for his hook, and it always catches me off guard even when I'm actively looking for it.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I think it looks different, but it still has the casting animation. If you pay attention closely, you can see that it's doing its casting animation. But it's just a different look than the normal blitz.

The hook just looks marginally different, and it's probably smoother too(being a 1350RP skin has its perks). I'd just guess that you're not used to the iBlitz Q after seeing so much of the regular one.

I've read that iBlitz is not permitted in competitive play because of the animation difference. So I don't doubt that it's considerably harder to dodge his grab.

Why a champion's skin is not allowed in competitive play but permitted to exist at all is beyond me though.
