PSA - Master Yi's Highlander Grants him Immunity to Attack Speed Slows

Just had a game where my mid laner was confused when I said was a hard counter to . He says "But your E, R, Frozen Heart!"

I of course calmly explain to him that Master Yi is immune to all of this. But he still rages that I didn't buy Frozen Heart against Yi after we got stomped in the first twenty minutes.

Then in the end game screen, my top, mid and the Yi player all tell me that Master Yi is only immune to movement speed slows during his ult.

So PSA - Master Yi is immune to all attack speed slows, the slow applied by fear and the slow applied by polymorph during his ult. You're welcome.

He may be immune to the fear's slow but he will still flee in the opposite direction at sonic speed lmao

Back when Hide and Seek still existed, if a seeker picked Yi, I'd always grab Fid (even though he's not really an optimal hider). Fearing Yi is waaaaaaaay too fun.

That is literally what the spell is designed for, and the main use of it! The Master Yi thing makes sense, as AS slows are not specified in his ult, but the ability specifically says that it blocks dashes(and enemies from going through bard tunnels, which counts as a dash I guess)

Guinsoo's Rageblade is bugged on him at the moment.

It will return on-hit effects (i.e. Bloodrazor, Ruined King, Wuju Style, Black Cleaver, Frozen Mallet) to Master Yi.

That is why it would be humorous.

Guinsoo's isn't that bad right now I don't think.

With bloodrazor and guinsoo's alone he reaches the attack speed cap while ulting, letting him stack a bunch of damage/defense items, and use defensive boots. It's pretty nice.

I don't think the Ult issue still exists, though. It moved the bonus damage to trigger by "chill" debuff, not slow or stun status.

The way the E was once worded, "Deals double damage to targets slowed or stunned by Q or R"

Now, her Q and R (at full size iirc) apply "chill" debuff, which triggers the bonus damage.

If you really want to ruin Yi's day pick Fiddlesticks to make him run away with 600 ms for 2 seconds with Q or Rammus because you will just make him kill himself faster with Guinsoo's than he already does by himself, since you will proc W on every double strike and phantom hit.

Yi should be able to kill Rammus in a 1v1 late game but yeah, Yi can't really team fight against a Rammus at all.

I had a fun game where I was Morgana supporting a MissFortune and the enemy team had a Caitlyn .

At one point Cait ulted MF and I was behind her so I couldn't bodyblock it. MF died and then bitched me out the rest of the game for not shielding her. Morgana's shield blocks magic damage and debuffs- it does nothing to physical damage- which is what Cait ult does.

to be fair, for the longest time of his existance, yi was countered by all attackspeed slows that weren't ms slows at the same time. Atleast for an oldtimer like me, it feels like yesterday since they changed that.

That immune to all slows has been patched in may 29, 2009

Sorry to disapoint you, but that 'all slows' only reffered to movement slows, not AS slows. It also applied to nasus wither and nunus E as their AS-debuffs where tied to the ms-slow. Pure AS slows like FH or Malphs E were not included back then. Befor that patch, highlander was his Q and an entierly differnt skill, while Alphastrike was his ultimate...

I'm pretty sure this is due to the attack speed slow being tied to the movement speed slow. In a Nasus wither, both the movement and attack speed slows are the same debuff, so both are removed by the yi ult. The same would apply to Olaf ult.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong. Whatever.

Oh no. I mean, I gave it my best shot and got every dragon I could but like I said in the OP, Yi is a hard counter. If there's anything skirmishers are good at, it's demolishing melee champions with outdated kits.

All other sources that I've seen on the internet tell me that Yi in Highlander is immune to the Nunu snowball debuff, since it's both a movement speed slow and another debuff. However, since Frozen Heart is just an attack speed DEBUFF, Yi is not immune to that.

Sorry to tell you what you don't want to hear, but I think your mid laner was in the right here.

You are reading outdated information. In the patch notes "attack speed slows were unable to be cleansed unless they were tied to movement speed slows. Now attack slows can be cleansed and are treated as Move speed slows".
