Piltover's weapon chamber [Help needed!]

Chembaron Yamada··2 votes·585 views

Hello summoners,

I am in the beginning stages of working on a champion concept, of course the origin of choice for me was Piltover. I try to figure out what kind of weapon she should be wielding and so I thought that I will open a discussion.

I won't give any details about the champion concept, since I see a great opportunity of asking the community, what kind of hextech weapons you guys would enjoy to see in the future.

Please help me out here and tell me your opinion, what kind of tool you would install a hextech crystal into!

Hm...I think to determine this we need to know the current Piltover weapon aresnal...

Jayce has a hammer/cannon Caitlyn has a rifle Vi has huge fists Camille has blade legs Heimerdinger has turrets Ezreal has a gauntlet Orianna has a mechanical ball

There's a variety of ranged/melee weapons. Being that 5 of the 7 are ranged, think it would be cool to see some sort of heavy melee weapon, such as an axe. It might also be helpful to look up a list of weapons and choose from those. Hope this helps!

Yep, I was considering a melee weapon, too. Not sure about the "heavy" part, though, since Jayce's hammer and Vi's gauntlets already fit in that category for me, while the only melee weapon I would consider "elegeant/precise" in there would be Camille's blade legs. ^^

Anyway, do you have any great ideas how some examples of melee weapons could be "tuned" with hextech? ^^ Thank you for the help.

That's a really good point, hadn't thought of that. So would you be looking for an in-between, then? Also, could you explain what you mean by tuned with hextech? Just so I understand what to brainstorm!

Something in between works as well, the whole point of the thread is not only to search for a weapon for my concept, though, but asking what you would like to see as a weapon choice for a Piltovian champion in general. ^^

What I mean by tuned with hextech: Hextech in general is the main theme of Piltover and if you look at their weapons, they usually involve hextech one way or another to change how the weapon is used and seperating them from "conventional weapons".

Orianna Floating hextech ball using shockwaves. Vi Hextech driven gauntlets to increase her physical strength. Caitlyn Hextech rifle, used for alternative ammunition like her net. Jayce Transforming between cannon and hammer, using electricity. Camille Her whole body is a hextech weapon, blade legs unusual anyway, but using energy fields as well as her implented hookshots.

A champion from Piltover would most likely not use just an ordinary axe, they all tinker with their weapons one way or another, but the way hextech is used varies alot and there are endless possibilities. I would like to get some ideas what could be done to weapons in that way without clashing too much with existing concepts. ^^

Hextech Chainsaw or circular saw

High powered Harpoon

Stun Rod or Taser

A hextech saw weapon would be something I am really interested in as well.

But I got to ask: What exactly do you mean by "high powered" harpoon? ^^

The bigger cousin of the "normal" harpoon.

You know the kind used to make whales dead, but now you use it on human targets instead

Perhaps, a drill? It's a bit far fetched, not sure whether it would be melee or ranged. But the drill could easily fit in with a Piltovian character who is keen of digging for new materials and researching them. The drill could be an extension of his arm, or maybe it's own entity.

I can see a drill working, but I think that it would fit more into Zaun, especially since we know about the chemtech mines from Urgot's biography. If a Piltovian champion is using a drill, he would most likely be a scientist for geology.

Hm.... but it could be interesting to have a champion with roots in Zaun, but he was working his way up to the top and became a citizen of Piltover.

That is a good point. I think that it would be far more interesting for a character backstory if the character originated from Zaun.

Example:

The character grew up in Zaun with a passion for science. It was his dream since he was a little kid. However, when he actually started working in a laboratory, he realized the immorality of the experiments. He decides he wants to be a scientist for Piltover. He gets in contact with the Piltovian Science Bureau (not sure if that exists, just made it up), and for weeks he writes inquiries and sends photos of the labs projects. Unfortunately, however, he is caught red-handed when a colleague finds these messages. The character must flee, so he grabs the latest project the lab has been working on: a hextech drill, designed for mining toxic substances and using them to make chemical weapons. He then runs off, and stops at the border of Piltover. He's taken into custody for possession of the hextech drill. However, a scientist from the bureau (could be Heimer, Jayce, or a new character), recognizes the drill, and takes the character under his wing/gets him a position.

A bit of example lore, but I do think the whole Zaun to Piltover backstory is a cool one.

You could do hextech finger guns! You know, like pewpew.

Or a grenade launcher! That'd be cool to see how that works.

Or what if the champion had a hextech suit?

A giant hextech vacuum maybe? You could suck in minions and use them as ammo. Shoot the enemy champions.

I have no idea what the background of your champ is, so I am just grasping at straws here. You gotta give me something.

Is she a chef? A noblewoman? A street sweeper? A dog trainer? A scientist? A bartender?

The whole idea is to figure out what the community wants to see as hextech weapons in the future, not just collecting ideas for my own concept. [slayer-jinx-wink]

The grenade launcher seems interesting, I wonder what kind of champion would be the best fit. Perhaps an artillery mage?

A hextech suit could work well, but it should have special features to seperate it from Camille with her hextech body. Should have some kind of weapon attached to it.

A vacuum seems odd as a weapon choice. xD

Fair enough. I still think Inspector Gadget type hextech finger-guns would be an instant sell though...

The hextech suit could be like Viktor's rod. Instead of it having a single upgrade path though, you have multiple. Like the different jungle item upgrades, but fine tuned to fit more of the role you want your champion to play. Maybe it only unlocks after level 6, or the hextech suit is the ultimate.

There are tons of possibilities.
