Nydas, Nature's Scholar

Introduction Hello everyone. I am Ragnola. I want to introduce you all to my newest champion concept; Nydas (Nye-dass), Nature's Scholar. I felt that League was missing a nature/plant based champion who was on the side of good (Zyra is so evil!) so I decided to create one in hopes of maybe inspiring other concept writers greater than I or perhaps inspiring Riot (yea right). Anyway, I hope you enjoy the concept.

Lore From his earliest memories, Nydas could only recall floating in the wind. No sights, no smells, not even touch. Just a feeling; a feeling of mindless freedom. A hapless spore separated too soon and too far from his own species. It wasn't until this spore happened upon an unwary sorcerer that Nydas was born.

A strange creature, Nydas did not quite understand what happened. All he knew was that he was now in control of a body surging with magical power that wasn't quite human. He was also now capable of complex thoughts! It took him a few moments of silent and confused contemplation of his own existence before he could regain composure. While he knew what the body of his host was, he also recognized that he didn't quite look like what his host should look like. The same basic features were there, but there were some very distinct differences. His skin was now a mixture of green and white spots with a human-like skin color as the base and quite tough too. Instead of hair, he had vines with leaves growing out of them. His forearms and hands were a brownish color and instead of finger nails, his fingers were sharp and pointed at the ends. His legs and feet appeared human at least. Upon fully realizing what had just happened, Nydas decides to set out to learn more about what he is. The best way to do so seemed to be to study the natural habitat around him.

He spent decades upon decades studying only to find that he was quite unique when compared to the other species here in the Kumungu Jungles. He also discovered that he had the power to manipulate and even create nature using only the power of his voice. When combined with his will and magical power, certain sounds created certain effects. In addition, his study and care for the Kumungu Jungles had made him quite a few friends. He was often accompanied by a small flock of birds whom he was able to communicate with.

As time progressed, one of his feathered friends told him of what they had seen. Apparently, it overheard a group of Noxian wood cutters speaking of the League of Legends. However, what piqued his interest was that there was another creature like himself there. Its name was, Zyra. She must know what he is. Therefore, Nydas decided to join the League of Legends in order to reach this Zyra and gain the answers he had sought after for so many years.

Abilities

Passive: Infectious Spores

Nydas' body naturally produces spores en mass. Though incapable of actual reproduction, these spores infect nearby living things waiting for a signal from Nydas. Up to three nearby targets (prioritizes champions and ignores allied minions/monsters) in a 375 radius around Nydas are attacked/visited by one of his feathered companions at the same rate as his attack speed. Each attack/visit infects the target with one spore and deals 5 + (2% AP) as magic damage (The flat base damage increases by 5 per level and the scaling AP increases by 1% per level up to a maximum of 95 + (20% AP) as magic damage at level 18). Allies do not take damage.

In addition, Nydas' basic attacks also infect enemies hit with one spore.

Each stack of spore increases the damage of Nydas' abilities by 10% up to a maximum of 70%. Each spore in excess of that (that is each spore after 7 spores) grants Nydas 2% (goes up by 1% per level) of the damage done as health and mana back. The recovery cannot exceed 50% of Nydas' maximum health and mana respectively.

Spores on a target are automatically used when Nydas hits them with an ability. Spores do not disappear until used.

Q: Afflict (CD: 10/9/8/7/6) (Cost: 60 mana) (Area of Effect: Same as Passive) Nydas disperses a cloud of specialty spores around him slowing all enemies hit by 30/35/40/45/50% for 1 second before it stuns them for 0.5 second dealing 60/95/130/165/200 + (50% AP) as magic damage. The specialty spores activate the latent spores from his passive triggering its bonus and using up any spores on the target.

W: Vine Whip (CD: 22/20/18/16/14) (Cost: 75 mana) (Area of Effect: 500; close to Darius's reach on his E)

Nydas whips his hair vines in a circular motion around him knocking back enemies at melee range and pulling in enemies at the outer edge of the area of effect. Enemies in melee range are knocked back to the edge of the area of effect. All enemies are dealt 50/80/110/140/170 + (30% AP) as magic damage. This activates Nydas passive.

E: Rejuvenation/Deterioration (CD: 18/16/14/12/10) (Cost: 85 mana) (Range: 500) Nydas infects the target with specialty spores. If it is an ally, the target is healed for 30/40/50/60/70 + (5% AP) every 0.5 second for 1.5 seconds. If it is an enemy, the target is damaged for 25/35/45/55/65 + (15% AP) as magic damage every 0.5 seconds for 1.5 seconds. Both effects trigger the passive however the ticking effect does not continuously trigger the passive.

R: Mother Nature (CD: 120/100/80) (Cost: 100 mana) (Initial Area of Effect: 500) (Final Area of Effect: 750)

Nydas transforms himself into a massive luscious un-targetable tree whose branches are filled with life for 2/3/4 seconds. All enemies within the area of effect are rooted by the tree's roots for 2 seconds dealing 125/200/275 + (50% AP) as magic damage. During this time, Nydas' feathered companions attack all nearby enemies at a 50% higher rate and 200% range of effect. While this can apply spores, it does not continuously trigger spores.
