[In-Depth Champion Concept] Ginei, Numen of Tranquility
Have you ever stared out into the night sky and had that moment where you realise just how much more there is to your meagre existence than the measly pockets of it that you experience on a day-to-day basis? The food that you eat; the air that you breathe; the light that your body soaks up from half-way across the Solar System... it's almost humbling. Possibly terrifying! And yet... somehow... it's all rather calming, isn't it? To know that your life is reliant on so many variables - Tiny aspects that we barely even take the time to notice; the foundations and building blocks for life as we know it; dancing delicately upon the head of a pin.
Did you ever reach your hand out - maybe as a child - and grasp at it? The night sky, that is. Perhaps you smiled yourself a mischievous little smile as you squished the moon between your fingers. And why not? There are entire romances based around the concept - plucking the very Moon from the heavens, themselves, to win the affections of a young lady. To want; to desire - even the untouchable... especially the untouchable - It's all a part of being human.
But what if the Night Sky that humanity crushed and plucked at could feel your desires? What if, all this time - over the gaping history of our race - a million little eyes had been staring back; crushing and plucking at our tiny heads with infant fingers of their own?
...And what if that infancy was nearing an end?

#PLAYSTYLE Ginei is an aspect of both prescience and guidance. An encompassing will that seeks to nurture and refine every corner of the Rift with a benevolent - though warped and potentially dangerous - view of those around her. Boasting a limited offense, Ginei instead relies on a variety of debuffs and abilities to control fights and limit enemy retaliation or pursuit. But it is her passive, Come What May, that affords her team the greatest advantage; allowing Ginei to regularly summon infant versions of herself at great distances and providing fantastic gank and countergank potential even while farming in the jungle or supporting another lane. Between the clones, snares, slows, vision debuffs and battlefield-ransacking vortexes, Ginei is a force to be reckoned with. Don't let her initial lack of offense fool you - this creature can quickly become a dangerous symbol of what's to come.
#LORE Gegningham growled under his breath, swinging his free arm wildly. Nothing... There was nothing to get a damn grip on! Risking a downward glance was a huge mistake: He felt his stomach churn as his mind fed him vivid images of all the directions he could splash upon making contact with the solid ice, below.
Twenty seven long years. He'd always taken such pride in his work... but only now, staring out over the hillside and facing the inevitability of his own mortality, did Gegningham truly understand: So much time had been squandered. He'd been running; living an illusion; chasing illusions. "The man who pursued the beating heart of creation", a self-entitled fraud who had fooled himself with delusions of grandeur. What had he expected to find? The answer was infuriating.
For it was nothing.
And for twenty-seven years, he had been entirely successful in his pursuit - gulling the paranoid to fund his delusions; to chase away the bad feelings and stupid superstitions that plagued their backwater towns. With every coin that he earned, his ego grew. Before long, he was decked in golden trinkets - a self-proclaimed walking connection to the other side. From every corner of Runeterra, they would seek him out - the old and the young - climbing over one another just for the chance to plead their cases. But there was no point, for in the end, it all came down to gold. It was only fitting that the yellow glimmer be his undoing.
An icy chill ran up his spine as a strong breeze threatened to undo the clasp he had on the silver root protruding from the cliff-face. The whimpering was louder, now. She was close. She was so close, and it frightened him.
A monster. She was a monster. Standing upright upon an uneven number of legs, she sobbed like some kind of twisted nightmare. Where she stepped, tracks failed to form; and she was so... beautiful. As though the culmination of every horror and pleasure were forced into a single moment's glance, she'd gazed at him from across the valley. And, in an instant, he'd felt her reach into his very mind and try to pluck away his doubts. He'd turned. He'd tripped.
And he'd fallen.
Now, he hung, here - waiting for the inevitable. As the air began to twist and turn, above him, droplets began to form; raining down upon his forehead. And then she was there. No... she had always been there. It had simply taken him this long to realise it.
"Come to gloat? To wait until I drop and then claim your dinner? Well you'll be here for some damn time, you twisted pile of limbs!"
The creature watched the hunter passively for a moment, then dipped itself forward - leaning hazardously over the face of the cliff. Gegningham gasped in shock at what he saw. Lined upon her back and upper extremities, the creature had grown tiny little fingers - complete with joints and fingernails. Each one moved with individual purpose, stretching toward the sky. And as they stretched, they grew. As time passed, fingers turned to hands. Hands turned to arms. Arms turned to bodies. Gegningham yelped.
"...What... what do you want from me? Why? Why can't you just...?"
But the creature did not answer. To alleviate was to deny experience, and an image would paint a more vivid picture than human words ever could.
From the beast's very own flesh, Gegningham looked down upon his own face; his eyes widening in abject terror. He saw himself hanging there, idle, clasping upon a silver root that hung precariously from the cliff face. Slowly, his eyes began to dim. And then...
"... So... warm..."
He let go. ...And the world went black...
When Gegningham awoke, it was for the very first time. His hands shook in flurried anticipation, threatening to tear themselves from his body. Clamouring through the sleet and silver leaves that had enveloped him, Gegningham stared upon the sky as though an infant. He could feel it - the sky staring right back.
"Gegningham, you've returned!"
Gegningham was aware, now, of a crowd around him. The same mundane masses that he had always claimed to serve. The faces of tormented parents and their grief-stricken children, looking upon him as though he were their salvation.
"...Master, please, my mother is very ill..." "...The wind eats away at our crops and I fear that we are cursed..." "...I have gold! Please just help me find my son..."
#"NO"
Gegningham raised his hand, forcing several of the onlookers to back away. From his fingertips, a bright, silver glow erupted; illuminating the cobbles and leaves beneath him.
"I shall never want for gold or trinkets again. Speak of your ills and I will alleviate them. Speak of your desires and I will requite them. The age of sameness will soon find its end! From this point forward, every night shall birth a brand new day!"
It was at this moment, from the tattered silver leaves that lay upon the ground, that the beast began to rise; her sobs drowned out by the wailing and terrified yelps of the crowd as they witnessed her seemingly materialise from the Earth.
"We will persevere."
Some made to run... but how could they?
"We shall Evolve."
...How could they turn their backs on a vision of such tragedy? Such beauty?
"We will remain."
In anticipation, infant fingers began to form upon Her flesh; straining to tug away the sky. And so, in turn, did the hands of every man, woman and child, present. As the tears of the assembled masses began to drip and splash on the cobbles, beneath them, Ginei turned Her gaze skyward. In their minds, they could hear her. They could hear her voice.

#Passive - Come What May
|◘ Range||||||||||||||||||||||||◘ Range Increase Per Level||||||||||||||||||||||||◙ Passive Range @18 |- |○ 1600)||||||||||||||||||||||||○ +200)||||||||||||||||||||||||☼ 4000
Every 15 seconds from the 1:10 (match time) mark onwards, Ginei will store a charge of Come What May, causing tiny hands and fingers to form along her back. Ginei may at any time consume all current charges to double-click points on the Map within Passive Range and summon a Tranquil Harbinger (A Glowing, Silver, creature that resembles Ginei) after a 1.5 seconds delay, for 10 seconds. Harbingers may be targeted by attacks and abilities, and will disperse after 3 successful hits (1/2 damage for AoE or multi-target attacks). Ginei may store up to 5 charges at one time. The more charges expended, the more abilities the Harbinger will have, and the more effective the Harbinger will be.
○ 1 Stack: The Tranquil Harbinger slowly crawls toward the nearest enemy champion. Upon making contact, the hostile becomes visible to the enemy team, taking an additional 15% damage from champion attacks and abilities for the next 3 seconds. ○ 2 Stacks: The Harbinger gains Ginei's current aspect (random if she's currently going through Rebirth). Upon making contact with the enemy, the last offense-based aspect is applied at 50% strength in addition to the above effects. ○ 3 Stacks: The Harbinger has 1 extra hit point. The effect upon contact with a Champion increases to 4 seconds. ○ 4 Stacks: The Harbinger persists after successfully making contact with an enemy Champion, and will seek out additional targets. Can not affect the same Champion, twice. ☼ 5 Stacks: The Harbinger grows in size and speed and gains an additional hit point. For each hit that it takes from an enemy, the Harbinger will trace a small line of thread; forming into a branch over 2 seconds and persisting for 6 seconds. See Ginei's W for a full list of effects.
#Q - To Rend; To Redefine
PASSIVE ◘ Aura Range: 225 The Air around Ginei buzzes and dances; rending and redefining itself in dangerous anticipation of what's to come. Every 3 seconds, Ginei's aura and immediate environment will change, cycling between 4 different aspects. Each aspect provides a different effect. Negative effects only apply to hostiles in immediate range of Ginei's aura.
Aspect List ◙ **Clarity: **Hostile champions are affected with Darkness. Hostile monsters and minions are blinded. Ginei gains 0.75 seconds of Stealth after 3 seconds, when Clarity expires. (Visual Note: Ginei is coated in a thick, dark, fog while this aspect is in effect) ◙ Alacrity: Hostile Champions are slowed by 15/21/27/33/40%. Minions and Monsters additionally have their attack speed reduced by this amount. An icy patch erupts around Ginei after 3 seconds, for 1.25 seconds, allowing allied units to scurry across 20/25/30/35/40% faster. (Visual Note: Howling winds and lazy snowfall circles Ginei while this aspect is in effect) ◙ Alleviation: Hostile Champions are dealt 25/50/75/100/125 (+0.25 AP) magic damage each second. Minions and monsters take 1.5x this amount. After 3 seconds, Ginei's aura erupts in a brilliant static display, knocking foes back slightly and applying a 0.25 second stun. (Visual Note: The air around Ginei crackles and burns. High temperatures and flashes of static electricity shroud Ginei while this aspect is in effect.) ◙ Rebirth: Ginei gains a grey health bar equal to 30/40/50/60/70% of damage she's taken over the course of the past 3 aspects. Attacks scored on her during this time will reduce BOTH her health and grey health bars, simultaneously. After 3 seconds, any remaining grey health is added to her current HP. (Visual Note: Ginei's aura fades and the hands that line her back begin to reach out towards the sky. At the 3-second mark, bright green particles may signify that she has healed.)
#W - To Ensnare; To Inspire
|◘ Cooldown Period||||||||||||||||||||||||◘ Branch Width |- |○ 24/22/20/18/16||||||||||||||||||||||||○ 85 units
A very thin, silver, thread protrudes from Ginei's forehead and marks the path she walks for the next 4/4.5/5/5.5/6 seconds, each segment burrowing into the ground and independently sprouting glittering, silver, branches over a subsequent 1.5 second delay. Should any hostile targets attempt to pass over a fully developed branch segment, spurs will shoot up from the ground, ensnaring them and dealing 55/90/125/160/195 (+0.65 AP) magic damage over 1.5 seconds. Individual targets may not be ensnared or damaged by a single use of this ability more than once.
- Completely looping a section of thread so as to create a full circuit will cause branches to fill the entirety of the circle, as opposed to a single line. Circuits will also fill out faster than individual threads.
- Champions may jump or flash through/over branches to avoid triggering them, but ground-level dashes (ie: Fiora's lunge and Lucian's dash) will still activate mature branches.
#E - To Lament; To Cherish
PASSIVE Ginei begins to whimper under her breath, reaching out with her voice to discern her surroundings. Enemy Champions who come within 1400/1675/1950/2225/2500 units of Ginei but are still outside of her sight radius trigger her senses, heightening the sound of her sobbing and providing Ginei with a vague indicator that points out the trespasser's general direction (Note: The indicator will be wide so as to prevent the precise pinpointing of enemies. The indicator does not change shape or size based on distance from the trespasser.)
- All players within vision radius of Ginei - allied or hostile - will be able to hear her sobs whenever she detects a hostile.
- Targets who trigger these sobs will also be able to hear Ginei crying no matter their distance from her.
#R - The First Verse of Creation
|◘ Cooldown Period||||||||||||||||||||||||◘ Total Vortex Width |- |○ 260/220/180||||||||||||||||||||||||○ 125 units|||||||||||||||||||||||| |◘ Minimum Range||||||||||||||||||||||||◘ Maximum Range |○ 800 ||||||||||||||||||||||||○ 1200/2400/3600
Ginei ceases her sobs, temporarily negating her E. In their place, she begins to recite the First Verse of Creation, marking a zone on the map with silver leaves for 0.5 seconds. From this patch, a twisting Vortex emerges - connecting the Ground and Sky. The Vortex will spiral erratically, circling around Ginei as it slowly closes in upon her over the next 6 seconds. Foes struck by the Vortex while it traverses this path are knocked into the air temporarily and dealt 100/220/340 (+0.5 AP) Magic Damage (damage 1/4 for successive strikes).
Upon being struck by the Vortex, Ginei will be thrust into the sky for 5 seconds, during which time she may descend upon any point that the Vortex travelled (1 second delay). If she manages to land on top of an enemy champion, they will be stunned for 1.5 seconds, taking an additional 120/180/240 (+0.5 AP) Magic Damage over the duration.

Ginei looks and sounds almost... otherwordly, speaking in cryptic fashion and bounding in slow motion as she traverses the map. Her voice is soft and tender; sympathetic and tragic and yet, somehow, joyous. For as she beckons those behind her, what is there not to revel in? Upon her back, tiny fingers stretch out towards the sky, almost like a fur coat. To give them better access to the sky, Ginei always leans slightly towards the centre of the Rift.

Ginei, The Numen of Tranquility - Monster, Mother and a world unto herself. A mirror of humanity, seeking humanity, in turn. A symbiote; beckoning more like her to take their place at her side. For better; or for worse.
Ginei was initially meant to be a Void monster of some kind. But as I ploughed through her poem and short story, I realised that I could do a little bit more than condemn her to perpetually exist as a demon from a dark abyss. I've always been a subscriber to the idea that a good character should add to the overall plot; not clutter it. And so she became an aspect of passivity and want. I hope it turned out well.
Thanks to everybody who read this self-gratifying, eyesore. I genuinely hope somebody out there was able to draw even a little bit of amusement from it!
If you DID like this concept, then why not browse a couple of my others? Evaanethys - the Lavendar Amethyst is one of my most recent. She pulls Amethysts from the sky to squish her targets where they stand as an alternative to auto attacks. If that doesn't pique your interests, then you must have nerves of steel (or an aversion to tediously reading long concepts)!
Thanks again for reading. If you have ANY critiques, suggestions or compliments, don't hesitate to throw them down, below - I'd love to read 'em!
