You Are Not Alone (Star Guardian/Dark Star fic).

So with the tease of new Star Guardian skins, I got the creative juices flowing and wrote a fic at work. Then I typed it up. Here you go!

Sorry for stealing your title Riot but I couldn't think of anything better.

You Are Not Alone.

For millennia I have waited in darkness. Watching the Star Forger at all times for a sign of weakness. I have seen the creation of countless stars, their cursed light pushing away at the darkness that surrounds them. I grow tired of this duet of darkness and light, tired of this invading element invading my domain.

At least that is what my master tells me. I am but the voice of the Dark Star, and the bearer of its power.

The star dragon stops. His gaze focused on a “dying” star. So close to perfection, a century or more until it collapses and returns to darkness. Already he begins to work the cosmic forces around him, to keep the accursed ball alight.

I hold back my rage while I watch this wretched display. In time the star will darken again, but it will not go out as long as the Creator remained. The dragon had grown old and this star was so close to its end. It would take much of his strength to reforge it. It is that moment I wait for, the moment of weakness that I will exploit.

The bitter warmth of the new star sickens me as it baths against my form. I ignore the feeling as I ready my cosmic chains. The forger grows weak and tired. The reforged star took more of him that even I expected. How delightful. I signal my herald, I wish to have the Maker struggle.

From darkness my herald fires, his star splitting arrows pierce the dragon’s hide. He roars in wonderfully delicious pain, then throws a small star into the darkness. The light reveals my herald as he fires another shot, this one piercing the tail and preventing escape.

The dragon begins to speak, but my hook silences him as it coils around his body. My laughter fills the void as I pull him in. I’ve got him. I raise the Dark Star toward him, letting its gravitational pull grip him slowly. Escape is impossible for him, but still he struggles.

“Submit to infinity.”

The dragon roars, I expected a futile attempt to burn me down with his light. But instead the resistance grew weaker. Good, he had given up. He roared again and again, with each roar his struggle grew weaker. Something was wrong, he should not be this weak. He should...no.

“Herald!” I scream. The power of the Forger was fading, but not into nothing. More power was lost with every roar, thrown out into the vast emptiness of space. Power that the Dark Star needed.

The herald silenced the dragon with a final arrow through his neck, but it was too late. Five roars were enough to remove the power his master craved. They were too small to detect and already too far to claim. Soon they would find beacons, host of the Forger’s power.

I could not prevent it. Again the light refuses to end this damned dance! My screams shook the cosmos, all that waiting was for nothing!

Then I laughed. As tired of this dance as I am, I can stand a few more steps. But now I shall lead.

I call for my herald and order him to find the hosts. He is to keep them safe until I arrive. I cannot allow them to die outside of the Dark Star, else new hosts will be found.

It may take another millennia to find the hosts, but I can wait. After all, I have a distraction this time. Just as the stars become beacons of darkness in their end, so shall the Star Forger.

“We will all collapse into one.”

Lux stared forlornly into the night sky. It was just one month ago on a similar night where a pink ball of light had come down and changed her life forever. Or so she had hoped. When she first transformed she was excited, not for the power but for the adventure. She could save lives, battle evil, and maybe even make friends! It was a dream made real, one she thought was only possible through the bright screen of a TV or computer.

But nothing changed, at least not in where it mattered. She had saved lives and even fought monsters. And while it was both scary and exciting it...it didn’t help her feel less lonely. This power was too dangerous to tell her family and… well she had no friends to really hurt with such a secret.

She was just Luxanna Crownguard, the grade A student and first daughter of a family that basically owned her school. Her appearance, grades, and reputation had to be perfect, and perfection pushed people away.

A single tear fell down her cheek as she looked up to the starry sky. She was their guardian and she shined just like them. Maybe that’s why she had gotten this power, because stars shined without others beside them. They were alone, just like her.

She looked away from the sky, it was too late to be out now. Especially with the test she had tomorrow. But as she began to change back, she noticed a shade of green light, followed by purple, pink, and blue. Eyes wide, she looked up to see four comets of light coming down from the sky.

Tears streamed down her face as she smiled. It was if the stars themselves had heard her cries. And they answered, “You are not alone.”

I am very excited for these skins.
