Lunar Reveal crafting: I don't want to spend RP on components that grant random skins.

Lunar Revel 2017 Crafting | Intro Video - League of Legends This Lunar Revel, we honor the past and celebrate the future with tokens of good fortune and relics from a past long forgotten. Craft now until February 2, 2017 at 23:59 PT. Especially when those components are for a limited time.

Warning: This is just my opinion. I know there are people who don't have the same.

I have both against your hextech crafting system. In fact I enjoy it as a fun little side thing that I don't have to sink money into to get results. I don't even mind you using it for events, I am only concerned that you will just use this as a replacement for the discount shop because it might be too much of a hassle to get into the new client.

Riot, if I want a skin, I will buy the RP for that specific skin. I don't see a reason why I would want to put money in for a random skin unless I am very bored. And even then, I don't see the point in wasting money on specific event items that I need to use up before the event ends or they'll be useless until maybe next year.

Case in point: I have three candies from snowdown left over that I can't remember if I can do anything with.

It also doesn't feel that exciting. At least with the special shops I could see what I could get free of charge. There was the novelty (not sure if I'm using that right) of seeing what dumb or cool skin you'd end up getting for sale. I didn't have to waste RP or get 4 S's in the month to see what random thing I got.

The amount of effort the system asks us to put in for a random reward doesn't feel worth it to me.

I know it is all optional, but these hextech events just aren't exciting at all. They take some of my personal enjoyment out of the events.

Riot, I hope you are hard at work trying to reimplement the special shop or something else beyond hextech events. Cause this feels like a step down.

I like hextech crafting. I don't mind the randomness to it. I'm not obligated to buy hextech chests, and I can even get them for free occasionally. I feel like it's a reasonable thing and it can be worth the gamble.

What exactly is "Ew" about it? I understand its not the best deal they've offered but its just a bonus on an existing crafting system. If you don't own every skin it has something to offer if you have an odd amount of RP leftover. I mean all it ever got used on before is if you needed just a little bit of RP later down the line or if you sink it on an icon or ward skin or something and you have a chance to get more value. Random sales was pretty cool but I only bought like 2-3 things off of it since the roll only happened the one time and I only liked certain items. A shard I can at least repurpose if my response is "I don't like this skin".

Because it's something we ALREADY have with Hextech crafting, just with an additional gimmick where you have to gamble even MORE on collecting a certain amount of also randomly dropped "relics" so you have the chance of MAYBE getting one extra skin shard you MIGHT want.

I really like the hextech crafting too but i get too many champion shards way more than skins now. Now i'm not complaining because is free however i do buy RP and if they want to convince me to use RP to gamble in their chest there better be a reasonable chance at a skin, last 5 chest i've opened have been champion shards, my brother opened 4 last night he was saving 3 champion shards and a random skin. I won't spend RP for champion shards if i feel like 7 or 8 out of the boxes will be a shard and like the other 2 a random skin from any champ that i'd have to then unlock with previous essence i got from the uncommon skin shards.

They will. I've seen a few rioter comments on reddit during this and snowdown that they were planning on re-adding personalized shops to the new client. They haven't been doing them because of the new client, and don't want to have any reasons to revert to it. They also said they are trying several different types of hextech events so see which kind is most popular. That's why none of them have been quite the same. But I'd say by next year, most hextech events will be very similar and personalized shops will be back.

You may at least buy the little graphical icons that can't take more than day to be finished or the recolors of textures for skins you have already bought.

Oh wait, both of these things are also for RP. KEK.

If some game sells icons and texture recolors for real money you know you can't expect much free stuff out of them. Even If Riot does something for free it's usually burrowed in system extremly random and complex, encouraging you to spend RP nevertheless.

However there is at least Hextech Crafting. Though yet again, the Essence part has numbers too high to be fully worth it, it's the closest to free content for our achievements we will probably get. Also they gave free PROJECT skin (in case you were literal/comprehensive enough to understand that weird system of theirs that confused maybe like half of community [KEK] and did the math to know what to use the cores for), free Kayle skin and once free skin for good behaviour.

Personalized shops are event sales, they give you discounts for skins for the champs you have been frequently playing. They didn't do one for this or snowdown because they aren't on the new client yet.

You don't remember the personalized shops? They were shops that have special discounts on 5(?) skins and that I think were loosely based on what champions you played. Every player got their own shop instead of a general sale, hence personalized

Np man, i just wish they had them back already, this Lunar Revel event is going to be the worst yet. spend 1250RP and you get 5 envelopes. Envelopes that only have skin shards, and if you want yet another skin shard, use 3 of the "artifacts" and you get another one, wooo... also no IP purchases at all this time around, and you only get anything good if you luck out and get matching artifacts. It's crap

They need to do more events how they did the Project one; the event chests can be purchased with IP once each, giving enough event materials to craft one out of the three event icons and giving you a taste of what the event has in store for you. Keeping even the start of the event behind a paywall is stupid.

Close. At last count, if I remember correctly, there were 89 Chromas total. I can buy 92. ^^

But I'm not interested in all of them - not when buying just for the sake of it. But I do have 13 on my list (not that I can tell any of the Arcade Miss Fortune Chromas apart from the default), awaiting the next IP Chroma sale. :) Other than that, I am waiting for any non-esport icon, Hextech keys and any event specific Hextech content to be put up with an IP payment option in unlimited quantities. Preferably skins too, at 20x the RP cost (which seems like a fair amount of IP). As well as the possibility to purchase additional 20 runepages (only 20 isn't really enough anyway).

I honestly do not find it hard to believe at all. I have been playing since Quinn's release so..S 4 I think? Maybe 3? I just know it was Quinn's release; anyway my point being is that I have almost all the champs except about 14, only one 6,3000 champ left and could easily have them all by now if I didn't spend IP on chromas and the champion tokens for blue essence.

I can easily see someone who has been playing even a season longer than me to have a disgusting amount of leftover IP after buying their desired runes and champs.

You really think Riot would ever do that? It sure is a nice thought xD

I've been playing since Lissandra's release, which was ~mid-season 3. Actually, doing the numbers, we've been playing for just about the same amount of time. :) I'd say you got the better login screent hough - I switch back to Quinn's login on occasion even now. Love that login theme. Those old .swf-logins still works with the legacy client, you know.

There's of course more to my story than that, such as not having anything better going on at the time, and so, after doing the math, I calculated that I played on average 9-12 matches per day. Or an average IP gain of ~680 per day, according to Excel (yeah, I got my lifetime IP written down ^^). Doing that for a year...well, you do the math on that one.

And no. I dont think Tencent (Riot sold out) would ever do that. Especially not when judging by the money grabs that's been the recent events. But it's a hope. Considering the low number of players with that kind of IP, it wouldn't affect their wallets an awful lot if they did offer skins for IP - when at extortionate prices. But I'd settle for additional 20 runepages and icons and Hextech keys for IP.

Oh well, there are the ones I'm looking for (skins already owned):

i agree.. in some ways.. we already have hextech.. but if you're someone like me ( who thinks skins are like Pokemon, gotta catch 'em all! ), then getting random skins ( that could be cheaper then me straight out buying it ), then i enjoy them. but i agree. i think that they're doing the most rn

I really want them to bring back the special shop. It was very cool; it had skins just for you, based on the champions and roles you own and play, had the potential to give Legacy content, and was generally a fun and unique way to get some discounted skins for the holidays. It was awesome, and I bought at least two skins from every special shop.

This... This is not fun. These envelopes and their contents are practically worthless to me. I'm not going to hope I get a cool skin; if I want a cool skin that bad, I'll just buy it. The only thing that's kinda cool is that you can get a Gemstone, but even then, it would take a long time and you'd probably hafta sink a lot of money into it.

The old shop was a great way to fill out my collection of skins for my favorite champion. Most people will buy every skin for their 'main' champions, and it helped me fill out my collection; I got SSW Rengar and Galactic Renekton from it the last time it was available, and it was great.

Please, bring back that shop, and I'll gladly spend money on it, Riot. But I'm not buying these silly, dumb little envelopes.

ITs not cause crafting its because of the fact it bugs out in the new client so they cant implement it unless they finish new client.

For 1000 RP you can potentially unlock a random epic skin! Only if you get lucky enough to get the same four random gifts in your envelopes.... What even is this?

Apparently, Riot is going down the gambling route. I won't participate and will not purchase a single thing until they fix this ridiculous system for tricking their playerbase.

We have different problems with it, but this place seems fine to air my grievences.

Why am I spending RP for a chance to get a skin shard for a champion I don't even own? This becomes especially problematic with the skin permanent rewards such as in this event. Why would I spend so much rp to get a skin for someone k don't own when I could just use self mystery gifting, and have a garunteed skin for someone I own for cheaper?

The system doesn't make sense when you can spend so much real money and literally get NOTHING from it.

The personal shops aren't programmed into the client yet because it's low priority compared to actual necessities to creating a functional new client. This is why they have opted for Hextech events instead of personal shops.

Yes, but you are not forced to partake in the Hextech event if you don't want to. Besides, the envelopes only grant skins, which is far better than risking a champ shard or ward shard. I know I still have several skin shards that I don't have Orange Essence for, and so it's win win for me if I either get a skin I don't want/already own or get a shard that is worth way more than the 250RP you pay for the envelope, such as Elementalist Lux or Hextech Annie.

Because Item Sets are already in the Legacy Client. If they really wanted to push people away from the Legacy Client they could remove them from there, but that would be a jerk move to do so they won't do it. On the other hand, they have a choice to release the Your Lunar Revel Shop. Releasing it would push people back to the Legacy Client. Not releasing it is not a jerk move since Riot isn't obligated to give us the Your Lunar Revel Shop.

In any case, you seem to have missed my point. If they're fine telling us to go to the old client for one feature, why not another? How would logging into the old client for a few minutes be of any detriment? Besides, if you load the old client from the new launcher, you end up loading up the new client again anyway when you play more League later.

Item Sets are already there, Your Shop is not. It'd take some work to add Your Shop to the Legacy Client, while they need to do nothing in order to keep the Item Set Builder functionality in the Client, so there's not really a good reason to remove it without seeming authoritarian. Not adding Your Shop on the other hand means less work, it doesn't promote the Legacy Client, and since they're not obligated to put it in anyways, why do it? They'd rather do as few things as possible that promote the Legacy Client. Just because they're doing one thing (maintaining the ability to create Item Sets) that promotes use of the Legacy Client doesn't mean that they want to do it, nor does it mean that they want to do something else to promote the Legacy Client further.

I mean just don't use the feature then, and wait till the shops come back! I don't see why people like you feel the need to bash something some people like. Yes there should be something for everyone, but the client only recently got updated and they probably are working for the shop to be able to work in the updated client.
