#DEATHFIRE'S HAND +80 AP +5% movement speed +10 Magic Penetration

Unique Passive: Your single-target spells and auto-attacks mark enemy champions for 2 seconds. If you damage a marked enemy within the duration of the mark you apply Accursed Touch. (120 second cooldown).

Unique Passive [Accursed Touch]: After 2 seconds deal the target magic damage equal to 90 + 25% of the target's missing health. If the target dies before Accursed Touch deals damage, the full cooldown of the application is refreshed.

Appealing to burst mages with single-target abilities (LeBlanc, Ahri [charm only], Katarina [E and probably the primary Q target], Fizz, Diana, Kassadin, Ekko), this is designed to give AP assassins a similar tuning lever to AD assassins.

An alternative might by this:

Unique Passive: Your single-target spells apply Accursed Touch* to enemy champions (120 second cooldown).

Unique Passive [Accursed Touch]: For 3 seconds your spells deal +30% damage to the target. If the enemy champion is slain during this time the cooldown resets, but that champion is immune to further applications for 120 seconds.

The second option might give it more distinction from Duskblade, and provide more levers to tweak the effect.

The second option bring's back Deathfire's Grasp without the max health nuke exclusive for single target champions which tend to be the ones that need it the least. I don't think anyone agrees that Diana needs to do 30% additonal damage for 3 seconds, or Akali, or Ekko. Especially Ekko.

But to be honest, I dont think AP assassins need this item. Their spells are usually front loaded with enough damage to kill, and MR itemization is a lot poorer than Armor itemization. Duskblade isn't meant to kill squishies, it's so assassins have some sort of option versus tanks since last whisper is no longer good. AP, however, will always do damage vs tanks unless they're only building MR. Tanks tend to heavily itemize into armor to counter ADCs and top laners, therefore indirectly countering assassins. AP also has stuff like magic pen boots, aoe magic pen abyssal scepter, and magic pen/max health damage liandries, plus a void staff that isn't nerfed like last whisper.

Ap lacks itemisation but assassins have no probems. I don't see why you shoud take the same AD item.

your not the first person to try and make an AP execution item. granted APs have fewer choices when it comes to kill items (its pretty much luden's or bust for most) but then they have the more intersting skills to play with, the height of fancyness for AD skills is stabbing the enemy is some new, unseeable, way.

the dusckblade isn't the most problematic item. The problem is that after the AD items rework, each item got additionnals effects,it's a thing that AP items don't have. People who have the least Item itemisation are manaless bruiser champions (i'm thinking about Rumble and Mordekaiser ) who got item 3151 item 3116 only ( item 3060 is more adapted for mages /supports because of the lack of hp,same for item 3050 who contains mana. item 3165 would be usefull for Mordekaiser if it wasn't a waste of stats (for ultimate you know, making him less reliant of ignite) etc etc..
