My ideas for making Gangplank more of a dueler during his laning phase instead of a poke champion.

Q - Parrrley

  • Mana cost changed to 80 mana at all ranks from 60/55/50/45/40
  • NEW: Refund 50% of Parrrley's mana cost when killing a unit, or when detonating a barrel.

Note: Gangplank's laning phase mostly consists of him poking his laning opponent, I would like more dueling during his laning phase instead.

E - Powder Keg:

  • Range lowered to 800 from 1000
  • Removed 0.25 seconds delay between casts.
  • ALTERNATIVE: Lower delay between casts to 0.125

Note: I don't like how much of a backline Gangplank is, I'd rather him be closer to his enemies during fights but have faster combos. This will also make Gangplank more consistent and less of a hit-and-miss champion.

R - Cannon Barrage - Raise Morale:

  • NEW: Raise Morale now also grants a shield to Gangplank and his allies within the radius that scales with Gangplank's bonus health.

Note: Raise Morale has been a very mediocre R upgrade compared to Death's Daughter and Fire at Will, so Raise Morale is now changed into a great defensive dueling and teamfighting upgrade, that scales with bonus health. This synergies well with Gangplank being closer to his targets after the Powder Keg range nerf.

Interesting idea, but I do not think your changes would really be enough to create a shift in Gangplanks early game playstyle. Realistically for Gangplank to become an early game duelist he would need to be much less reliant on gold/items hence the meme Bankplank and would also need to have his Q and E reworked to enable him to duel successfully. With how his Q and E are currently he has no need to duel when he can safely farm and damage his enemies from a distance and as a result fails to have many of the utilities that other champions do who are duelists, most notably some way of engaging on a champion (cc, dashes, etc...) and some way to sustain or avoid damage during a fight as well as deal consistent damage. Gangplank as a champion relies primarily on his Q to damage his enemies and then the true damage on his passive while he waits for his Q to come off of cooldown. So while your changes are certainly in the right direction of making Gangplank more of a duelist I feel that much more drastic changes would need to be made in order to make this playstyle shift viable. That is just my opinion though, what you think?
