Stamina- Resource Concept

I've always thought that it was odd that there is no stamina resource per se. Energy isn't necessarily what I'd consider Stamina, so that's why I decided I'd create this resource, and see what you guys do with it.

Stamina- Stamina is a resource that scales with max health. It is designed to have a large resource pool, but it regenerates slowly. All healing effects return Stamina at 50% of the health return, and Stamina only "naturally" regenerates due to the Champion's own Health Regen.

**Potential uses: **

  1. Champions that use sustained damage could use it over the course of a teamfight to utilize the full array of their abilities, which would have inherent health regenerating capabilities to help the champion survive long fights and keep his/her window for using abilities open.
  2. Basic attacks could expend Stamina for increased damage, granting Fighters and Marksmen the ability to increase their damage potential.
  3. Tanks and Healers could utilize Stamina pools to give themselves or others bursts of healing at a great cost to their Stamina.
  4. This wouldn't be a resource for burst champions, as energy makes much more sense for them.

I like what you've tried here, but I have a slight concern: Isn't this practically just health based resource costs without it costing health?

Yes and no. You can run out of Stamina and not be able to cast spells and be at full health. Conversely, you can be at low health, but so long as you have stamina, you can still cast abilities. Basically, it is taking the two functions centered on Health, Max Health and Health Regen, and transposing them into a separate resource.

So would you say that it eliminates the risk of being a health based resource user? I'm not trying to poke at this too much, it just seems incredibly safe in comparison to a normal health cost ability user, like Vlad or Mundo. If Mundo used Stamina, you could see how overly safe that would make him.

Right, but then you wouldn't give a champion that uses stamina an ability like Sadism or Blood Pool. Think of this as an alternative to Mana rather than an alternative to Health. Health as a resource is inherently fraught with risk-reward. Stamina is designed to be an alternative to Mana. It scales with health, which gives items that increase and return health extra utility, at the same time, it would be tuned to make it so that the abilities have less reward. Champions like Vlad and Mundo don't mind spending health to use their abilities, because their abilities compensate for the health lost. Stamina abilities would be less compensation. Also, there are certain positions that just cannot afford health loss. Marksmen come to mind. With Stamina, however, they can have abilities that drain the resource more heavily, but get a return out of their Life Steal. Think of how Essence Reaver works. That is how Stamina would affect Life Steal for that champion.
