Kahina, the Cursed Knight

Once again, I'm giving this a shot. Kahina appeared in Lux's lore, and the name kinda speaks to me, so I figured I'd make a Champion concept out of her.

General Concept

Kahina is a melee juggernaut who becomes deadlier as she approaches death, coupled with excellent sustain and dueling power. All this is counterbalanced by Kahina being slow and easily punished if she misses with her abilities or uses them poorly, as her cooldowns and health costs are unforgiving. She also, unlike other juggernauts, has a small amount of crowd control via her Imprison ability, though this ability is slow to trigger and gives her opponent plenty of time to react. All this aside, however, Kahina can be very tough to kill, and is easily capable of baiting enemies who think they can finish her off.

#Abilities

(EXPECT CHANGES)

NOTE! - Kahina's abilities have health costs instead of mana.

P - Dark Resolve

When Kahina takes non-turret damage higher than 15% of her current health, she reduces the excess damage by 35%.

Q - Malefic Strike

Kahina's next basic attack within 6 seconds releases dark power from her blade, dealing 30/60/90/120/150 (+1.0 total AD) to 45/90/135/180/225 (+1.5 total AD) physical damage, increasing based on Kahina's missing health (maxes out at 30% of maximum health). Resets attack timer; applies on-hit effects. Cannot crit.

Malefic Strike will cause Kahina to dash toward her target if it is marked by Imprison (max. 350 dash range). If Malefic Strike kills an enemy, 75% of its cost is refunded.

9/8/7/6/5 second cooldown. Costs 6% of Kahina's current health.

W - Drain Spirit

Kahina sends out a skillshot that tethers to the first enemy Champion or large Monster it hits. While tethered, Kahina deals 4/4.5/5/5.5/6% (+1% per 100 AP) of the target's maximum health per second as magic damage (capped against monsters), and Kahina is healed for 6/6.5/7/7.5/8% (+1% per 100 AP) of her missing health per second (healing is halved versus monsters). Lasts up to 5 seconds.

22/20/18/16/14 second cooldown. No cost. 500 casting range. 600 tether range. Damage and healing tick every 0.25 seconds.

E - Imprison

Kahina marks a target enemy Champion. After 2.5 seconds, the mark is consumed and the target is rooted for 0.5 seconds, increased to 1.25/1.5/1.75/2/2.25 seconds if Kahina hits the marked enemy with a basic attack or with Demacian Onslaught.

18/17/16/15/14 second cooldown. Costs 15% of Kahina's current health. 350 casting range.

R - Demacian Onslaught

Kahina becomes Unstoppable as she advances in a target direction and performs three devastating swings of her blade as she advances, hitting enemies in a wide arc with each blow. Each strike deals 150/250/350 (+2.0 bonus AD) physical damage and restores 8/10/12% of Kahina's missing health for each enemy Champion she hits.

140/120/100 second cooldown. No cost. Kahina cannot cancel this ability or use Flash while using Demacian Onslaught.

#Tips

Playing as Kahina

  • Don't be too hasty with Demacian Onslaught. It can be easily dodged if your enemy isn't locked down.
  • Imprison takes 2.5 seconds to trigger. Make sure you hit your target with a basic attack or Demacian Onslaught before then to trigger the full root duration.
  • Don't neglect defensive items just because of Dark Resolve. High health items, such as Warmog's Armor, will be of great help.

Playing against Kahina

  • Pull away from Kahina if she marks you with Imprison or hits you with Drain Spirit to mitigate the effects.
  • Be absolutely sure you can finish Kahina off when she's low on health. She can be deceptively hard to kill and hits at her hardest when near death.
  • Stay spread out when faced with Demacian Onslaught; it's far more powerful if Kahina hits multiple enemy Champions at once.

#Champion Matchups Champions who synergize with Kahina

Lux - Along with being good friends in-story, these two make a great combat pair. Lux's crowd controls and shields help Kahina in numerous ways, while Kahina's Imprison lets Lux easily land her skillshots on targets that might otherwise dodge them. Light and Dark really do go together.

Thresh - One of Kahina's biggest weaknesses is her lack of mobility, something Thresh can help a lot with. Dark Passage is great for either pulling Kahina into position to attack or for pulling her out if she overextends. Thresh's multitude of crowd controls also make it much easier for Kahina to land Demacian Onslaught in team fights.

Orianna - Orianna provides both mobility and defenses to Kahina, while her Shockwave can be used on her team's initiators to set Kahina up for Demacian Onslaught. Command: Protect can be invaluable to Kahina when she's low on health.

Champions who Kahina struggles against

Anivia - Kahina is slow and easily kited, something that makes Anivia an enormous pain to deal with. Between her slows, stuns, and walls, it can be hard for Kahina to get close enough to hit anything. It doesn't help that Kahina can't go through Crystallize with Demacian Onslaught.

Darius - Darius shows no mercy to Demacians, and in Kahina's case that's a bad thing. Darius can match your sustain and damage with his own, but he excels in extended fights even more than Kahina does. In particular, once he gets Noxian Guillotine, he can completely bypass Kahina's Dark Resolve, decapitating her when she's supposed to be at her most dangerous.

Caitlyn - The long arm of Piltover's law will make Kahina's job very difficult, as Kahina will have a hard time getting past Caitlyn's traps, nets, and long range. Caitlyn's high degree of safety simply amplifies Kahina's high level of risk, taking it to suicidal levels.

#Background (work-in-progress)

A knight of the Radiant Ones, the warrior cadre of the Demacian Illuminators, Kahina has served as a protector of Demacia even after being darkly empowered by a necromancer's curse. Though her power comes at great personal cost, she has sworn to use it in defense of the people of Demacia.

  • Kahina was the knight who inducted Lux into the Radiant Ones. Kahina became cursed after bringing Lux into the order.
  • One year after bringing Lux into the Radiant Ones, Kahina was sent to track down and kill a necromancer who was plaguing villages along Demacia's border. Kahina found and defeated the necromancer as he was performing a magic ritual. The disruption of the ritual caused powerful dark magic to become infused into Kahina's body, darkly empowering her.
  • Kahina's power manifests as inhuman strength and stamina, but comes at a cost of her life force when she uses it. She also has the ability to drain life energy from other beings and trap them with dark energy, though she only uses this on the wicked.
  • It isn't long before Kahina's dark powers are made public knowledge, as she accesses them to defeat a powerful demon that is attacking a major Demacian city.
  • Though Kahina is accused of the crime of magic, King Jarvan III grants her mercy for saving countless lives. Instead of an execution, Kahina is permitted to enter self-imposed exile (for political reasons), but she chooses not to go too far from her home nation.
  • Kahina now lives within an abandoned keep just outside Demacia's border, occasionally daring to enter its borders in order to protect the innocent, even if she is feared and scorned for her actions.
  • Kahina also tends to accompany Lux whenever her missions take her out of Demacia.
  • Kahina has no love of Demacia's stance toward mages, thinking it hypocritical. That said, she does not endorse criminals like Sylas, and (following his escape) has vowed to put Sylas to the sword for manipulating Lux.

The numbers are probably off, so try to judge the functions of the abilities first before you go into number-crunching.

[slayer-pantheon-popcorn] [zombie-brand-clap] t*[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]* Well well this is single handedly the best formatted and elaborated champion concept I've seen thus far, makes me question if this is an official release. She's interesting to say the least and yet i cant help but be unmoved, i mean her kit is good, everything works together and flows with her kit but she seems rigid, or basic, no offense of course but to me she lacks wow factor, what about her would make me say OMF I WANT TO BUY/PLAY THIS. I mean don't get me wrong id probably play it but she's like a "Corrin, in smash Bros" fairly good but just average, this is however just my opinion so don't change it if it is what you have wanted it to be. Good job on this though well executed*[vlad-salute]*
