Skurr, Captain of the Ruckus

Skurr has been on his own since he can remember. As a boy, Skurr survived the streets of Bilgewater by eating scraps and drinking the remaining swigs of rum from deserted bottles. He found himself in the local pub many times, listening to the stories of the pirates. One particular story, told by Vincent the Shadow, convinced the boy to become a pirate. So at 6 years old, the young Skurr stowed away on a ship to fulfill his dream. Now Skurr has learned everything he can about being a pirate, and hopes to seek fame in the prestigious League of Legends.

Passive- "Some Bilgewater Special"- Skurr's blade is tipped in the most foul of drinks, all thrown together to make something the most daring pirates wouldn't drink. His basic attacks apply up to 3 stacks of sickness. An enemy with only 1 stack will have 5% lowered attack speed for 2 seconds; An enemy with 2 stacks will have 5% lowered attack speed and 5% lowered attack damage for 2 seconds; An enemy with 3 stacks will have 5% lowered attack speed, 5% lowered attack damage, and 5%lowered movement speed for 2 seconds. The stacks remain if Skurr keeps attacking.

Q- "Pirate Tricks"- Skurr stabs an enemy dealing (15/40/75/90/115) + 100% AD damage. This damage is increased 25% for every stack of sickness on enemy, and lowers enemy movement speed by 10% if the target is facing directly away from Skurr. (Cost 50 mana) (10/8/6/4/2) second cooldown)

W- "Chests of Rum"- While Skurr has points in "Chests of Rum", "X's" will appear in random spots in the jungle, and will show on the map. If Skurr is within 100ft of the "X", the icon will show the type of rum instead. Skurr can stand on the symbol for a second to dig up the chest of rum. Skurr will obtain 1 of 4 types of rum at random. The type of rum will replace the icon for "Chests of Rum" in the spell slot, and will be a new spell (effectively). Skurr can activate the rum, and target himself or an ally to gain its effects.

-"Rapture Rum"- (Red in Color) +30% Attack Damage, and +50% Attack Speed for 10 seconds.. (activates special interaction if used on Miss Fortune )
-"Black Pearl Rum"- (Black in Color) +30% explosive damage in 5 ft. Radius for attacks and spells for 10 seconds.. (activates special interaction if used on Gangplank )
-"Myron's Dark Rum"- (Dark Green in Color) Restores 35% health over 10 seconds, +10% Movement Speed for 10 seconds
-"Mount Atin Eclipse"- (Amber in Color) Removes all debuffs, and grants +50% magic resistance for 2 seconds

*Each Rum costs 50 mana, levelling "Chests of Rum" increases the frequency of chest spawns (30/25/20/15/10) seconds. The "Chest of Rum" will remain for 5 minutes, or until Skurr uncovers it, with a maximum of 15 on the map at once. If Skurr doesn't use the rum before uncovering a new chest, the chest will have gold instead. (5 second cooldown on rums)

E- "Pirate Boarding"- Skurr throws a rope to target, impassable, terrain (Turrets, Walls, Trees...). When the rope latches, Skurr can target an enemy or ally and swing them over the terrain. Skurr can activate "Pirate Boarding" to let go of the target, an can activate it again to let go of the rope. If Skurr holds on to the target, or the rope, he or both are returned to starting point. Additionally, Skurr can activate "Pirate Boarding", after latching on to terrain, to travel without a target. (Cost 75 mana) (10/15/20/25/30) feet skill shot, (5 foot 'grab radius')

  • "Pirate Boarding" only allows you to travel with as much rope as you use. If terrain is 7 feet away, the total distance Skurr travels is 14 feet: 7 feet to the terrain and 7 feet away from it. So, the further from the terrain you are, the further in you can go. (Up to 60 feet) (15 second cooldown)

R- "Captain of the Ruckus"- Skurr jumps on target turret and takes control for 5 seconds with a hearty laugh. The turret gains additional effects based on its type. Ally turrets gain (30/40/50)% damage reduction. Enemy turrets are rendered dysfunctional for (2/4/6) seconds after Skurr dismounts. (100 mana) (60 second cooldown)

-Outer Turrets: (5/10/15)% Attack Damage added to turret damage.
-Inner Turrets: (5/10/15)% Turret Attack Speed
-Inhibitor Turrets: (cannot target Inhibitor) While under turret fire, enemy loses (15/30/45) Armor.
-Nexus Turrets: (cannot target Nexus) Turret fire generates a pulse every second that deals (100/125/150) magic damage.

Attack Damage: IIIIIIIIIIIII_____ Defense Power: IIIIIIIIII______ Ability Power: III_________

Skurr's abilities scale off of his AD.

Bilgewater needs more champions. I think Skurr would be an excellent addition to League of Legends. I like that you can have good team composition by sticking with factions. Ashe Braum Anivia Nunu Trundle ... Gangplank and MissFortune need friends. Nautilus isn't very talkative.

massively undertuned. cool concepts i'd say more but im on my phone. try to add more power to his ult; it doesn't do much if the turrets are gone, and it'd be sad if enemy teams could just deny his moment of power by killing the turret. besides that he needs a lower cooldown and increased scaling from passive on Q and higher numbers in general. without fulfilling a separate niche of (perhaps situational) statistical power, he'll have a hard time competing

He can jump on enemy turrets as well. And if there are no enemy turrets, you should be about to win.

How would you tune him? This is just a concept of course. I'm looking for any tips. The damage ratios can be increased. Maybe there can be more to his ultimate?

Q needs something like 100% AD scaling. it would be bad even if at level 1 it was as strong as rank 5 as it is now. It'd also be more accessible to be able to reach the utility of his passive more consistently.

This is just my opinion, I think his numbers should look more like this. Q: 15/40/75/90/115 + 100% AD, damage increases by 25% per passive stack

W: - Random effects don't leave much to the player. I think it's alright to have random rum if the type of rum can be seen on the minimap before he picks it up. Besides that they're undertuned. Late game they'd all be garbage. Seems like they should be a strong situational steroid. It may be hard for him to function if a lot of his statistical power was tied to roaming the map. Think about how his kit lends himself to that gameplay pattern. Why is he being encouraged to do this besides his theme? In between ganks, he can have a choice on which to take which can lend well to his ability to counter different champions abilities, but I don't know how reliable that would be.

E is fine.

His ultimate should probably make the turret gain 20/30/40/50/60% damage reduction (unless it's an enemy turret). Besides that, think of it's best use cases (tower dives, sieges, defense?) and try to balance it around that. Don't be afraid to give him big numbers somewhere. He needs it

I'll use these numbers. The numbers I picked were subject to change anyways, I just wanted to provide something at least. And I like the passive to his ult- the on you suggested, less damage to turret per level, and maybe for an enemy turret, he disables it for a few seconds after he jumps off? Also- I was just thinking about his E- what's your opinion on this addition- "If Skurr is not holding a target, he may auto attack a target while swinging to kick enemy as he jumps off. The enemy is knocked back and takes damage, and is stunned for a few seconds if it hits terrain.

I changed his W, so that it's an X on the map, but if Skurr is within 100ft of it, the icon changes to show what kind of rum it is. I also added interactions for he first two rums. The 4 rums are legitimately from Bilgewater, the first is Miss Fortune's rum, and the second is Gangplank's. It's actually called Gangplank's Black Pearl Rum. I just shortened it.

I'm with crett here. For once a champion concept actually seems pretty weak. If there are no turrets he basically has no ult. Q doesn't even scale with anything really.

Mister Modesty1 votes

Any suggestions? Thanks for checking out the champ!

Mister Modesty1 votes

Maybe his Q can deal more % damage for each stack of sickness? And his skills scale off AD, I don't know if I mentioned that.
