You make more money if you give the people what they want
To be "fair" his last skin was in June of 2015, so it's been almost two years. Overall I'd just like it if they would release them more like this (for all champs) so they don't have champions (i.e. Yorick) go for many many moons without a skin.
More money is gained in making skins for popular champions. This is still a corporation trying to make money. You can also not just tell someone "okay now make a skin for cassiopeia or we will dislike you" that's not how art works. I can already hear the "Okay but why are people making skins for the same champion over and over again?" This is where the first part of my argument starts to come into play. When it comes to OKing a skin companies will look how the cost vs how much they get back. Making a skin that will get them 1million or half a million is a pretty big deciding factor in what gets finished.
I can see the Vayne, zed, yasuo, riven, lucian ultimate skins. Ahhh yisss, rito trying to make money. classic and smart.

Basic rule of business: You sell what people will buy.
I'm basically done theorizing why the skin team does what it does. On face value you'd think money: there's a few skins here and there that contradict that argument :/
Meanwhile in Illaoi land, illaoi hasn't gotten a skin since release.

I don't even play Lee Sin, but Hot diggity damn am I hyped for this skin. I love new art and new things, so I don't really care who it is for as long as the quality is there!
First of all, like others have said - Lee Sin is popular and earns the business and the people who work for it money.
Secondly, you have no clue if this is just going to be a single skin for Lee Sin. It could be like the Blood Moon, where we got a teaser for Jhin, but it ended up coming along with 3 other skins. Don't scream that the sky is falling until you have the information.
