Plz, at least press your shields on your carries not you when you're not even exposed to the enemy.

One thing that newer players (and even veteran players sometimes) struggle with is remembering to use actives. If you've played support, you'll know that probably all of your items are going to be actives with the exception of your boots. It takes a little while for people to build good habits but they eventually get there with practice. Just kindly remind people at the beginning of the game to use actives, ping enemies missing and keep the map warded. Teamwork OP.

Ideally, apply the shields to the ally who is just about to be hit with a skill shot. Not just after the skill shot hits them, just before.

Theres a lot of people who for some reason see someone get hit and lose a chunk of their health, and only think "woah they're in trouble I should shield them" even though the damage has already been done, and now the enemys ability is on cd, so the shield is often pointless.

That is just not what's happening. We're trying to shield the damage before the skillshot hits them, it's just that our reaction time is trash so in most cases the shield comes after the damage.

Well, probably a bit of both depending on the situation and the elo. I have a somewhat unfortunate bronze friend who I've been on voice comms with as they supported me, and the not-even-thinking-to-shield-until-too-late situation is definitely real, although I'm sure many people will just be slow as they acclimatize to actually having a shield in the first place although their reaction times may be lacking.

Certainly some skill shots are pretty quick and hard to react to and I can hardly blame them, but theres plenty of people who aren't used to having shields who end up using them as a 'woah don't die' button, and not a 'prevent damage in the first place' button.

Hmm, that's actually true now that I think about a bit more. I remember when I first started playing Karma and the first few games I wasn't very accustomed to having a fail safe in the form of a shield, I'd completely forget to E myself a lot of the time instead just popping right as I'm about to die.

No, no, no! Don't be silly! Shielding allies from skillshots is just enabling your allies! You're teaching them that skillshots don't matter - they've got a support to block all that damage for them! It's just training them to be lazy and not care!

No, the best thing a support can do is to let their ally eat every skillshots they're too lazy to dodge! It'll teach them real quick that they need to take their life into their own hands and be proactive about survival!

It's just like how parent birds throw their babies out of trees to teach them how to fly! It seems dangerous and cruel, but it's how they learn.

So you're saying that my team won't flame me for not shielding them when they get hit by annie Q

You're right but most players in silver are retarded, especially most adcs I play with whether as a sup or anything, if you dont help their ass, they whine and troll and give up, I don't even bother reporting those anyore because that's the majority of the adc player base

As someone who plays Ivern a lot, I try to shield allies all the time. Sometimes during team fights though, it gets a bit messy and I miss the shield that was suppose to go on the adc, and instead it winds up on our Cho, or myself, though if I have Daisy out, I normally shield her because oh how I use her to constantly apply the pressure during, or after a team fight. Actives are something I'm still getting used to though. Have been playing for 3 years now and I still sometimes forget about the actives on items other than redemp, and hourglass.

Fun fact: Casting an ability like a shield while hovering your mouse over an allied champ portrait on the hud casts it on the ally whose portrait you were hovering.

item 3401 item 3190 item 3143 item 2045 item 2052 item 2055 Not going to lie whenever I play support/tank/mage I tend to get caught up in everything that I forget to use 1-2 of these items, not to mention using them at the right time + my shields from my abilities.

I used to be super guilty of this as well, I got a gaming mouse and hot keyed all my item slots to it which has helped me a great deal.

My current pet peeve is when ADCs don't pay attention to when your using relic line and have maxed charges, if your not cooling down on at 1 charge then your income is slowed, I have found pinging max charges then pinging the minion I intend to take helps sometimes. Also annoyed when Supports build relic and just sit there max charges and I'm leaveing them easy cs to grab but they are ignoring it for the exact same reason.

I play with quick/self cast on, so sometimes if I misclick or lag-click on the ground instead of on the ally, I'll end up shielding myself instead. I'd wager most of the times when supports shield themselves, it's because of the same reason.

I've shielded a lot of minions this way. (>_>)

Well if you get hooked, your support made one mistake. Not reacting in time. But you made two as the ADC. You didn't react in time to dodge it AND you were out of position.

NGNL Asian1 votes

Im not the adc, Their team delivered the ori ball into us with cc so we can't even dodge it

Sion I'M TRYING, BUT IT'S NOT WORKING!!!
